  1. Thanks guys! I will definitely be picking up that book. I made a ton of armatures last night and heads to be able to work with. Really glad I took that class last year from Patrick. Can I ask how you all sculpt lips? Did you add pieces or cut into the existing face? They just look so puffy and weird.
  2. Ok. Well. Here are my first attempts at creating heads. This part is maddening, Lol. They look like aliens. If anyone knows of any good threads or sites that I should be using to help me out here I would be eternally grateful! The mouths especially give me trouble. They have the biggest lips I have ever seen. I attempted to sculpt the green stuff right after mixing it but this was too difficult at it was too soft. I let it sit for a bit but then it was much too hard to work with and would heal its self when I tried to put any indentations for the eyes or shape the face more. I am trying to layer to add shape but I'm starting to wonder if I'm making the original too large and not giving myself enough space to add. But I'm flying blind so I don't know. I gave it two tries before wrapping up for the night. The first one is supposed to be more male, the second female with higher cheekbones and thinner face. I think I'm getting a slightly better handle for the tools but the green stuff and procreate are still giving me a hard time. It also moves all over the place on me since its just sitting on the wire. I dont want to attach it to my body until Im a little happier with it. Oh well. I'm sure its like that for everyone in the beginning. Please let me know what you think. I would take any advice at this point. Head One: Head Two:
  3. There is some green stuff on the torso and upper leg but mostly its procreate from Patrick's sculpting kit. I'd never used it before but it wasn't much different. I'm always amazed at how little it takes. I would tear off a part to add and realize it was way too big, half it and still need to half it again. That's why her but is a little on the robust side. Lol.
  4. Took a class from Patrick Keith at ReaperCon 2012. Picked up his sculpting kit this year. I wanted to give it a shot. Here is what I came up with. It is a female figure, not safe for work, simply because I have no idea how make clothes. I started at the legs and worked my way up. The arms gave me no end of trouble so I decided to take a break. I really like the procreate but I think I sculpt slow and it hardened on me while working. As you can see I have a lot of layers that I struggled to get smooth. I'm seriously considering burning off my fingerprints as well. Lol. No idea how to do a head, hands, feet, or pretty much anything else. I think Ill take some classes at GenCon and at Reapercon next year. I had fun with this and I think its pretty good for a first. Please let me know what you think. Constructive criticism welcome! http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h359/Shawna_Hogan/SculptFront_zps25a581a8.jpg http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h359/Shawna_Hogan/SculptBack1_zps25a6c456.jpg http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h359/Shawna_Hogan/SculptBack2_zps0a358559.jpg
  5. Absolutely love her! That is the perfect mini for Storm. Can I asked what paints you used for her skin?
  6. Sorry Myrnnyx, I did get my mini this week! It looks amazing. You completely blew me out of the water. I absolutely love it, especially the extra details on the base. Please feel free to post pics.
  7. Absolutely! She was safe and sound and WELL packaged. I'll try to get some pics up this weekend.
  8. I got my mini in the mail this weekend!! It was so exciting to come back to it after being out of town!! I'll try to take some pictures later. I love her!! Thank you so much Buglips!!
  9. I'd really like to cut her off the base and I have a great saw but her feet are clawed and I think I would just end up screwing up the feet.
  10. Working on converting this mini to make into a Drow NPC. I really like this sculpt. Harder than I thought it would be with all of the horns and boney protrusions sticking out. The worst was carving the polearm off her armor. Not sure how it will look when its primed. Was thinking about trying some liqued green stuff to smooth it out. Sorry for the poor pictures but I'm in a hurry. Would love any thoughts. Before: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/female%20polearm/sku-down/02443 After:
  11. I just sculpted these for a base I would like to do. I want one of them bursting out of a wave with the Runelord Alaznist standing on a cliff overlooking it. Thoughts?
  12. Had an awesome experience I wanted to share. I was in the Dallas area this weekend so of course I had to make the trip up to Denton to visit the Reaper store. ReaperBryan happened to come out and I was asking him questions and telling him I was looking forward to Reapercon. He even took me on a tour since I had missed out at last Reapercon. It was fantastic. I got to talk to the very awesome Shannon who was helpful regarding wet pallets. And then see the infamous Patrick Keith and Martin Jones who were working on the new Bombshell Babes. (They are looking amazing BTW.) I’m not ashamed to say that I seriously geeked out. The Reaper Crew are a really great bunch and it only saddens me that I don’t live closer to experience all the shenanigans that must take place on a regular basis. Thank you ReaperBryan for showing me around. It made my day.
  13. I cannot wait!! I have been looking forward to this since last Reapercon.
  14. Oooh! Owed a favor from a goblin. I don't know if I'm delighted or scared. I'm super excited. I shall take many pictures once I get it.
  15. I am so excited! I really love doing these. The 13th cannot come fast enough.

    ReaperCon Minis

Thanks Inarah. I was just curious. I had seen the strong man and the ringmaster and thought maybe some of the minis were tied in.

    ReaperCon Minis

I think maybe I wasn't very clear with my question. I'm not talking about Reapercon exclusive minis like sophie and the mouslings. I just meant the general theme of ReaperCon 2012 seemed to influence a lot of minis that came out this year. And we know that 2013 is "Dark Carnival" and suddenly two minis are out with a circus/carnival theme. Is that just coincidence or is it that typical? (I hope I've made sense.)
  18. He looks great. I particularly love the way the sword turned out. I would love to hear how you did the NMM gold too. It looks fantastic. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to more.

    ReaperCon Minis

So I noticed that since last years ReaperCon we've had a ton on new pirate minis and the theme for Reapercon was obviously pirates. Is that normal for the theme to predict some of what will be coming out over the next year? If so I am psyched for 2013, "Dark Carnival" sound so cool. I did see that we already have the ringmaster and strongman. 2012 was my first Reapercon so I wasn't sure if that was typical. Can't wait till April. Thanks!

    Class Wish List

I would love a class on painting reptiles. I can't seem to master the art of scales. Things like dragons, dinosaurs, Lizardman. This may be too specific but I thought I would throw it out there.
  21. Hey Girot. I haven't been able to post a pic of your mini and now I'm out of town so feel free to post if you want. :)
  22. I love Terry Pratchett and Dodger was brilliant. I had so much fun reading it. Hope you enjoy it too.
  23. A back-2-basics paint rack, several reaper minis, money to put towards a custom bow, misanthropic school for girls board game, and an awesome print of some artwork I saw at gencon. I love being a geek!
