  1. James Wappel has done this a couple of times on his Twitch channel. He uses Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel on sheets of plastic to make what what looks like running water. Those sheets or portions of them are then attached to bases and terrain with more gel to look like running water. The effect shouldn't cloud over time. Below are some examples. I put the timestamps in for the relevant parts as they are both very long videos. How to create Water Effects and using Vellum plants https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHDkFSF3sfI ~0:09:20 - begins demonstration of using Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel to form sheets of "water" - then moves to leaf litter and other basing, so that can be skipped if not of interest ~2:01:00 - demonstrates again before beginning to attach the waterfalls - the remainder of the video covers his process for attaching the gel sheets and using the gels for addtional water effects The Terrain Workshop: Episode 2: Painting a Fountain and experimenting with water effects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T56S5AWeRMY ~0:12:00 - another demonstration of creating the sheets - uses a filbert brush in this version rather than a round brush - them moves to other painting and other basing effects ~1:15:50 - the remainder of the video is the attachment of gloss gel sheets to the fountain Hope this is helpful.
  2. This is what I took away from the show. Note that this is not an official announcement. I do not represent Reaper Miniatures. I could have misunderstood something so please don't yell at Reaper if I got something wrong. They will be posting more information soon. Tonight's show will be on Twitch as VOD as soon as possible to do. Everyone who purchased tickets currently will receive a 100% full refund. Will not begin processing refunds until week of May 4-8 and will take time to complete. Swag bags on sale before show & after show. VIP bags on sale before show & after show. Plan to make enough bags to not run out. Cancel your hotel reservations as soon as possible. Do not rely on the hotel to do it. Do it early so that you don't get an extra charge. There will be online classes/demos/lectures/etc. The online stuff is free. There is no requirement to buy anything for the online streams. Class kits for sale with minis & paint. You do not have to buy a kit to see the class. Once all classes are in place and locked in, it will be possible to purchase class kits. Kits will be in place to arrive before Reapercon. Not all classes via Twitch.tv. Other options are being looked at. They are *trying* to archive all classes for later viewing since not all will be via Twitch.tv. Paint contest via social media. It will not be the normal MSP Contest. Will have to be a little different due to the remote nature. Rules to be posted. MSP Contest ceremony: information pending, in planning. There are no plans for ribbons. There will be an email sign up to keep posted on Reapercon developments. Info will also appear on Reapercon.com.
  3. Thanks, all. Reaper peeps are the best peeps.
  4. Does anyone have a link to the full picture of the final Bones 4 core set? I'm trying to inventory. It's impossible based on what is on the Kickstarter main page, and the pledge calculator won't allow me to see any of the pictures.
  5. Thanks, everyone. Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at next year's Reapercon.
  6. Well, I posted that I was waiting, and they arrived the next day. These guys are on their game.
  7. Thanks, everyone! Forget Disneyland. The Reaper boards are truly the happiest place on earth.
  8. Are there any examples of this I can look up online, or is this strictly stuff that he has shown off in his (presumably) ReaperCon classes? He has an entire video tutorial series for sale. However, if you want to see a partial example for free, search for "Wappel" on Youtube and you'll find his channel. He has some samples up which show of pieces of his process. The Painting Your Skeletons samples shows the tools that he starts with and the process for laying down the basecoat. I picked up the Shaded Basecoat video and Glazing Away video last year, and they're completely worth it. They lay out the basic process he uses for a figure.
  9. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Where's the 100% CGI sets? Where's the totalitarian temper tantrums? Where's the creepy stares and creepier stalker dialogue? Not sure if I can get behind this film. (But seriously, it looks pretty good.)
  10. Thanks, Bryan! I'll be smiling the rest of the day over getting the classes I wanted.
  11. Sigh. This one seems to be a perennial one. He was signing autographs at the booth across from the one I was working at this past weekend, so I'm glad to hear that our local show didn't do him in.
  12. If you are still waiting on this one like I am, Andy just announced on Twitter that he had to let his helper go. Looks like it will be a while longer before this one is complete.
  13. Happy Birthday! Hope it's a good one.
  14. Good work! And you made it into the store: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/2970/latest/02970#detail/IG_5218_1
  15. RiffTrax Live 2016: MST3K Reunion, Time Chasers Live & More! Just realized that this one hadn't been posted here, but I know there are some MST3K and RiffTrax fans on the form. The Kickstarter is in the last 13 hours as I post this. Every pledge level gets some free downloads! The coolest part: they're getting the gang back together. Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu, Frank Conniff, Mary Jo Pehl, Bridget Nelson will host riffs of a bunch of shorts along with the Rifftrax regulars. Jonah Ray will join in, also, presumably as part of the promotion of the upcoming new MST3K show. The KS won't get you tickets to the live shows, but a number of pledge levels offer downloads and DVDs/Blu-Rays of the planned live shows.
  16. Bless you.Don't make me disembearowl you. You're both unbearowlble.
  17. You might be interested in this blog post: http://shedwars.blogspot.com/2015/11/frost-grave-terrain-build-part-5-dragon.html The writer has a bunch of examples of his Frostgrave Terrain creation, and he's using a few cheap dragons so that things weren't too bland.
  18. Could close-up, painted pictures be added to the Preview Gallery for the three new figures? They look good small, but I'd like to see how much better they look when closer.
  19. Congratulations on making it into the store as a painted example! Well deserved. http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cobra/sku-down/03679#detail/IG_4904_1
  20. He looks fantastic. I'd passed this figure over, but your paint job brought it back to my attention. Excellent work. I agree with Serenity. Please consider adding this to the Reaper Inspiration Gallery (http://www.reapermini.com/InspirationGallery).
