July was a disappointment for me. I had hoped I would be further along by now. With two painting contests coming up I will need to focus on completing entries. I prefer plastic miniatures as game tokens over metal ones. They travel better and weigh less and are less prone to damage. And they are considerably easier to repair when they do get damaged than metal miniatures. But the miniatures I collect as collectables I prefer to be metal. The quality is better and the fact they are metal makes them seem more authentic as collectables. buckyball

How many miniatures do you paint in a few months? Back when I was cranking them out I went through about one da Vinci Kolinsky sable brush for every 100 28mm minis. It took about 3 months to paint that many. But I was only getting through 20 or so figures with cheap white vinyl synthetic brushes. buckyball

I seem to remember that in 2019 there was a sign stating that people could buy metal figures off of the table for $1 per oz which to me sounded like an amazing deal at the time. Now I could be mistaken about what the offer was, because I had come with lbs of miniatures to trade, and didn't need to buy any. Haldir you must have a lot more credit than I do; and I have kind of a lot. But I have also pulled things off of the meltdown table like the core of a Roman army. One year there was an18th century Austrian army in 15mm. I suspect you are right that the table isn't as huge as it was at the factory, and it would seem unsustainable to just have what comes in each year. But I have noticed that slightly imperfect miniatures from other companies like Bombshell have ended up on the table. If Reaper and some participating manufacturers seed the table with extra inventory, people's existing credits may continue to decline each year until they are exhausted. And then I don't know what will happen. But looking back most of my best finds came from what other people were willing to part with on that table. So even if it ends this year I got no regrets buckyball

I would not mind only being able to trade for metal on the table. Some of my best finds came from that table. It would act as a way for collectors to swap old metal. BUT they would need to stop selling the figures on the meltdown table for money. or the ratio of credit to available metal will become increasingly disproportionate. buckyball

I paint near a window. The sun is a pretty good light source. The downside is that I can really only get the full benefit in the morning. And of course painting at night is out of the question. buckyball

My guess is that the empty spaces are for the super rare figures that come in the small white boxes. The original set had reserved spaces for Yondu and Adam Warlock. buckyball

At the halfway mark I am mostly done for the month. I did however order some ghouls and skeletons to round out the figures I need for Temple of Madness. So with any luck I will get in a few days of honest to god speed painting. Undead can go quickly since they are supposed to be dirty and gross. buckyball
