Getting to Know You July 2019

I am seeing a lot of City Mouse/Country Mouse on this Map. The Orange area has bluish carve-outs corresponding to Dallas, Houston, Galveston, Miami, and Baltimore.

I never liked it that much. Probably just dump it in the river. (The super will actually take care of it) Do the apartments own/provide the fridge or do you own the fridge?

You are not alone in your fury. But I trend more to snarling... It is as if some cabal of programmers have decided to see how many people they can troll and enrage. And the dimwitted management pukes that approve these new/improved robo-things have no clue... ...they wrongly think they’ve made things better. < Grumble >

This is why ^ cheese can be safe ^ but ice cream can be a time bomb. (/edit) @Unruly Your Cheese(s) May Vary. YCMV. Here is a good article about Cheeses: https://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/recipe-collections-favorites/popular-ingredients/cheese-can-eat-lactose-intolerant

There is more than one lab test that a gastroenterologist Office can do. Looking back on it I was probably suffering mildly from it for years before it was diagnosed. The unfortunate F/X are more intense with rich ice cream, less with frozen soft serve products that are really more Ice than Cream, and vary a lot with different cheeses. Different cheeses have different amounts of remaining lactose. Even now, one slice isn’t fatal for me. @LittleBluberry has a point, other things can mimic with similar symptoms. Getting it checked is a thought. They did the one that involved breathing into a tube on me. Also, I don’t think it is like a switch gets suddenly thrown. For me it feels like it developed slowly as if the production of lactase spooled down slowly.

Also available in chewable tablets. Sorry to hear it. I have been told about 2/3rds of humans eventually lose the ability to process milk or milk products comfortably. There are some rare infants born unable to process milk. A few people retain the ability to produce the enzyme for their lifespan. Lactase (a) is the enzyme. Lactose (o) is a complex sugar. (Chemically speaking). Lactose + Lactase ===> busts the nutrient down to glucose and (sucrose?). Simpler sugars more easily metabolized. Pingo is correct. They work for me. You want about 3 tablets for a big bowl of ice cream. Two is usually enough for a milk shake. One for a glass of milk, or with a meal that has milk or cheese as ingredients: scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, pizza, etc.

It could work as a Starship; just lose that landing gear; and the racing numbers. @Glitterwolf is WOOF headquarters preparing the surrender documents? I ask because, I think the game is over, MEOW has won:

Does this one pretend to talk to you? Does it play a typing keyboard noise to pretend it is noting your responses? Does it say, “Oh, you don’t have to press buttons, I can understand complete sentences...” ?

I believe that it was Billy Connelly that said the very desire to be a politician should automatically ban you from ever being one.... Perhaps a Randomocracy is the thing. People are chosen by random means and put in a pool of candidates (much like jury service, but worse) they are then winnowed down after being subjected to to scrutiny and investigation by journalists (this happens before they hold an office) then the voters can choose amongst the survivors. Candidates are free to campaign against themselves being elected... ...but the people have the power to dragoon the finalist.

I call them a necessary evil but I'm still not sure why they're necessary. Otherwise everything you could only dream of owning would be the property of your Sheik.

How many people do you suppose *would* be interested? I have an old project on the shelf, which I have might bring back to the work bench for ReaperCon. If there is enough interest, maybe I'll try posting it here? I'm guessing @Corsair, and maybe @Weird-O Are you suggesting a group WIP thread ? (I have an old Atlas or something, I think, somewhere.)

The Landover Novels Kobold. (Terry Brooks) Those novels were ~so-so~ But I very much liked that take on a Kobold. I think of it as a “Greater Kobold”. I am good with ^ most variants of these. ...For lesser Kobolds. Dislike. A gnome is a gnome, whatever color its nose is. DCS kobolds FTW. ***The Landover Kobold Seven feet tall. Unless it must needs walk through a hollow log only 15 inches tall, then, much smaller. Able to start small fires with the snap of a finger. High levels of innate magic. Dark ..shadowy. Possibly Cobalt Blue (pun fully intended) or jet black, unless it needed to blend with the forest. Skilled cook, conjuror, ...quiet and silent. Stealthy infiltrator.

Don't ask me anything. Tell me something.

USS Sea Cat A boat that served from 1944 to 1968. That photo looks to be post-WW2. (No deck gun; taller more enclosed sail; both modifications were Cold War upgrades.)

Awww. The question is: why have hyposprays not been perfected and mass-produced? They’ve been invented: http://news.mit.edu/2017/startup-needle-free-drug-injector-gets-commercialization-deal-1208 Inoculations for Infants should be one of the first applications. I tried that. It failed. The Bermuda grass won. And now I have to pay someone to mow over it. I made a nifty little rock garden that is now all grassed in.

My oven doesn’t work either. A few months ago it was discovered to be making an electrical sounding, constantly repeating noise.... brzzzzt ...brzzzzt ....brzzzztt ...brzzzt ....brzzZztt Even though every switch and dial on the all electric appliance was in the off position. The noise stopped when I went to the breaker box and killed the power to the circuit. No idea what’s broke or how to fix it or where I’d get the money.
