Have you ever been so frustrated with or disgusted by working conditions or fellow employees that you just walked off a job?
Never walked off mid-shift or anything.
But there were three jobs I could have carried on with but did not.
The rest of the stories…
1) Worked as a temporary painters helper for a guy that hired kids. Our parents knew the guy via church. I was 14? and my little brother would've been 11. It was hot, dusty, hard work in un-air-conditioned rooms. At the end of it, the dude who was paying us below minimum wage because we were minors, paid me more than my little brother because little bro was younger. My brother worked as hard or harder than I did. When he asked if we’d be interested in a second job (?) that was a giant NO
2) I was working nights and weekends at a 24/7 donut shop during HS senior year. It was a shoe-string operation. For most shifts there was only one person there. The schedule changed week to week, it was Usually published only two days before the week started, and this was pre-internet, you had to go in to look at what was stuck to the wall. They scheduled me to work a Thursday night, but the previous weeks I had been off on Thursdays. I only found out on Tuesday that my name was down for Thursday — it was just too bad I was expected to be at a Cap And Gown event across town that same evening. I told the Donut Shop Boss, by phone, I was not showing up Thursday no matter what. This went over poorly.
3) I worked at a ToysR-Us part of the time I was in college. But when fall of my Junior Year rolled up, I told them I was leaving. I’d worked the Christmas Season once for them but Never Again.

Having Peak Pure Gold Leaf Tea for breakfast. (At least that is what combining the labels would end up naming it.)

I'm grilling some tuna steaks for dinner.
The sky is starting to get dark, and I'm hearing some ominous rumbling.
Will I finish dinner without/before getting soaked?
Tune in tomorrow to find out!
I’m guessing it was no. My power kicked off at least twice. Just flickers. But now the two clocks I had working need resetting.-

What was the biggest hobby miniature figure you painted by hand with a brush and paints?
Thanks for the clarifications and refinements.
It is this guy ^ (unless something now forgotten resurfaces from the murky depths of memory.)
But what is that guy? (Wandered off to look…edit happened) That guy is:
Lunkh, Hill Giant

June 7, Strictures:
(Not spray paint, airbrush, "dip", speed paints, or finger paints)
I need to know more before I can answer. I may not have a single qualifying model. Depends on the restrictions.
Spray paint:Most of my painted things were spray painted as a first step — rattlecan primer. Disqualified?
Airbrush:
Never done that to a miniature.
Dip:
I think I know what this is, what if I tried for the same effect but used a brush to get there? Disqualified?
Speed Paints:
Meaning? Used paint bottles labeled “speed paints” OR used some technique intended to achieve a decent result quickly? Does either disqualify?
Finger Paints:
Huh whut? (Either way, I’ve not done that to a miniature…)

June 6 Questions:
Do you memorize phone numbers?
I used to have that facility. But the cell phone took over. And now I could not call a friend from a borrowed phone.
37 minutes ago, Inarah said:Do you memorize passwords?
I hope everyone else has the good sense to not publicly post any answers about this.
37 minutes ago, Inarah said:Do you memorize addresses?
A few. I "know the way" to a few others.
37 minutes ago, Inarah said:Do you memorize account numbers?
I have some memorized. But which ones will remain redacted.
37 minutes ago, Inarah said:Or do you have another way of keeping track of them?
I put things in writing; I save scraps of paper with things pre-printed on them; I let the cell-phone store some things…
It's all a nightmare — and I
dread
ever losing my cell phone.

Are you ready for summer?
Not at all.
18 minutes ago, Inarah said:For example, have you made vacation plans, set up the backyard pool, bought park passes, broken out the deck chairs, camping equipment, or planned for activities usually done in the summer?
I have none of the five things listed in the examples list.

Uhhhh. No.
Alfred Nobel discovered-invented dynamite. He is buried in Stockholm.
In just one spot. As befits the founder of the various Nobel Prizes.

Natural disasters are not limited to severe weather.
Indeed not.
On 6/3/2023 at 9:51 AM, Inarah said:Earthquakes, flooding, and fires also affect us.
And that is the short list.
A bit more comprehensive (for North America North of Mexico):
Tsunami, Earthquake, Volcano, Wildfire (forest), Flooding, Wildfire (prairie), Tornados, Severe hail, Hurricanes (wind damage or storm surge), Asteroid strike, Solar flares†
On 6/3/2023 at 9:51 AM, Inarah said:Are you and your family prepared with an emergency plan and supplies if you need to evacuate or take shelter someplace else?
Plan not really. Shelter in place is not much of a plan.
Supplies, I have some water stashed. Food in cans + can opener.
My younger brother has a farm and a big garden — he has a plan. They can their own produce.
(I suspect he is a "prepper" )
(†Bro even worries about X-class Solar flares)

June is the beginning of Hurricane Season in the Americas. Five tropical storms have already begun forming.
Did they give them names yet? Does that mean NHC has burned A to E?
2 hours ago, Inarah said:Do you now, or have you ever, lived in areas prone to hurricanes?
No, the Gryffin eyrie is well inland. And always has been. (A good six or seven hundred feet above sea level I think.)

Do you find your taste in figures and painting styles has changed over the years or are you still collecting the same miniatures that attracted you to the hobby?
Taste for, or choice of, figures has changed many times.
But painting styles? I barely recognize the style of the paint and for me it does not correlate to particular kinds of figures.
I started off with Humbrol Oil based paints; but changed to acrylics; If those two things are styles?

Mostly I just watch Wheel of Fortune
That is another one I have seen because I had the habit of tuning in early for a following show that I did want to watch.
A local station runs WoF from 1830 to 1900. 1900 is when the prime time evening shows begin.
That meant I would see the final puzzle, where they would spin a small wheel once, that would grant them a hidden value prize card, they reveal a few letters, then they get a 60 second countdown to guess the final phrase.

*sigh*
The hits just keep coming. Mom just texted that she won’t be able to make the annual family vacation. Step father fell in April and got home from rehab this last week. But, since he hasn’t been doing his PT as he should, he can’t get around enough to go.
He simply doesn’t take care of himself and these injuries since his stroke 4-5 years ago keep coming. Very sad and frustrating.
Scooter, Electric ?
I’ve heard tell they can be rented (?)

Do you like trivia quizzes or game shows?
TV Game Shows: Not enough to regularly tune in to any of the current ones.
(I used to watch the end of the one that had lifelines: Call a Friend, 50/50, etc. It was time-slotted right in front of another show I did want to watch.)
A Pub Quiz might be fun, but I never go to pubs.

I didn’t know they had Possums in the European Renaissance.
Kinda believed the critters were native to the Americas. So, basically just Jamestown.
