  1. Finally sealed my Ma'al and got some good pictures in the light box. though I might need to take some more as the white head gets washed out in a few photos. More photos and close-ups of the heads can be found on my flickr page - https://www.flickr.com/photos/93463437@N03/ I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed finally getting around to painting it after all this time. And last but not least photo with the full base:

77580: Ma'al Drakar the Dragon Tyrant WIP

All done, now to finish all the details and seal. Almost time for the Show Off thread.
  3. Finally getting back in the game of painting and after finishing a PC for my current group I decided I just had to start working on Ma'al. Here is the progress so far. Blocking out the base color to start thinking. Goodbye Olive Green bottle, you had just enough to get through this. You can also see the back of the PC mini I painted for my group for scale. Last work tonight was putting the base on two other heads to start ordering the colors around after highlighting up on the olive green section.

    Kaladrax Reborn

I finally did it. After 3 years of telling myself this summer I will get to Kaladrax, I finally did, during the snow day this week. Here it is

    Smaug

I've been really, really, bad. I haven't painted since, well December... Partially because my boyfriend finally popped the question around then so I've been busy with person life stuff like planning a geeky wedding, moving in together, and other real life things. So I'll start off with my take of Smaug with the Pathfinder Red Dragon. The white got washed out but I promise it looks better in person than the pictures. and a close up of the head and underbelly:

    77441 Ostarzha Elf Cleric

Since my group is traveling through Middle Earth between the time of the hobbit and lord of the rings, our last mission was to escort an elven lady to take the boat over the sea. I painted the bones Ostarzha Elf Cleric for Irime, and tried my best to paint the sigil of Fingon/Gilgalad as she was a member of that high elven family.

    Nethyrmaul the Undying

Shhh, don't tell my gaming group but I painted Nethyrmaul the Undying for something that will happen a long time from now in the game. The reason he is a secret is they have yet to encounter the dragon alive, I painted Nethyrmaul and my Narthrax to look like the alive and dead version of the same dragon. Enjoy!

    AirViper's Kickstarter Thread

Might as well revive this thread with the Manticore and Sphinx. The sphinx was inspired by Pochi's awesome job since credit is due for the inspiration. I apologize for the awful picture of the Sphinx back, no matter how hard I struggled with the camera it just wouldn't behave.

    AirViper's Kickstarter Thread

I had a productive weekend. I painted one of my Deathsleet dragons like a sand dragon for my long running campaign (that is on hiatus due to people's scheduling but maybe they will be more willing with this mini now). And my griffons: I painted this one with peacock colors, because why not? Hopefully this gets me back in the game of painting as I think I was overloaded with too many minis to paint from the kickstarter.

    Sphinx - 77576

Pochi I love your Sphinx, you inspired me to paint mine this weekend. And you gave me some great ideas for what to do with it.

    Smaug

I picked up cheap gold glitter. Super glue on the raw bones as I wanted to make sure the jewels stuck to the plastic instead of paint on the plastic.

    Smaug

Yes, there is a small white spot on the under belly

    Smaug

Thanks! the gem was actually my fiance's suggestion. He even went out and bought small swarovski crystals for it :) Since I would never buy something fancy like that on my own for a mini.

    AirViper's KS WIP

I've decided to use my days at home with the US government shutdown to tackle some of the bigger models. First up, Wyrmgear. My gaming group's long running setting has evil blue elves, named for their blue armor and the fact their eyes are a pale blue from the herbs they smoke. This dragon is going to be painted in the blue metallic armor the blue elves have as it was a creation for them and built by some dwarves. I base coated him in various shades of reaper paint greys to give the different metallic paints a lighter or darker feel. Here is what I have after one day of work:

thanks everyone, I'm glad the peacock griffon is going over well. I was a bit hesitant with it because I was worried I was going too overboard with the colors.

    AirViper's KS WIP

Thanks everyone! I did it with some cheap metallic craft paints that I thinned with distilled water. I originally tried thinning it with airbrush medium but I noticed the paint separated while it dried on the mini. I'll post more pictures when I get the army this guy will be a part of done :) I'm actually painting about 6 armies of various dwarves, elves, and humans for an in house wargame my boyfriend is developing for our long running D&D campaign. I'll keep this thread updated as I work my way through them.

    AirViper's KS WIP

First day back at work and had to sign my papers saying I have to work and will eventually get paid when the budget passes for the hours I work (w00t?). Anyways, update on the clockwork dragon. Painted the wings and glued them in place and started work on the base, I should get him done tomorrow as the tail is painted and drying. I'm debating painting white stars or something on the metal shields since the blue elves are all named after stars and constellations or should I leave them as is?

    AirViper's KS WIP

Looks like I spoke too soon, back to work on Monday. I think I'll turn this into a what happens first, the dragon is complete or the full government is back to work. I'll just plan to make progress after work until it is complete. For now a status update, finished base coating all the grey undertones so now to paint on the blue metallics one they dry. I started painting the dark blue over the spines on the tail and will work with the light blue once the lighter greys. I've glued the legs into place and will finish painting the wings and tail before I attach them and then work on the base.

Just finished painting my Bones Hydra. Enjoy! And a close up of one of the heads:

    77191: Hydra

I went with yellow since each head is a different element. Green = earth, blue = water, red = fire, white = ice, and yellow = lightning. Let's just say when this guy gets used by against my gaming group they are in for a hard time.
