  1. I was able to get some more work done on Sophie. I added more shadow to the boots, hair, and flesh. I still need to do some shadow work on her shirt. Looking at the picture, I notice that I need to smooth out some of the transitions on her boots. Still todo: Wings, pistol, base.
  2. Thank you! I'm really enjoying painting them; this is my first exposure to Chibi style miniatures.
  3. Got some NMM Steel and Gold finished. Diva is now done (except for her base) EDIT: on closer look, I noticed that I missed her belt buckle. Spike also got the NMM treatment on his axe. Not totally satisfied with how it came out, but it looks good on the tabletop :)
  4. Indeed :). We have two, but the other one (who is more often my painting buddy) isn't the biggest fan of posing for the camera.
  5. I know I'll be in for Tianot and likely many of the bigger items. Of course with Cthulu, Wurmgear, and Kaladrax already sitting on my shelf, it may be time for me to invest in an airbrush. No Size-0-only-challenges for me
  6. Hair and Cloak done. Next up: some NMM Steel and NMM Gold.
  7. Worked on the Red NMM for Diva's armor. Needs a little more cleanup, but I really like how it turned out. Also, I wasn't happy with the contrast on her face as it looked like she had a 5 o'clock shadow. I smoothed out the transition. Looks like I will also need to cleanup some stray red on her chin from doing her armor.
  8. Are there any not-SpiderGwen type figures in the catalogue? If not, I would love such a figure.
  9. For me, the things that give me confidence: 1) looks like actual prototype miniatures have been made (see the gameplay video) 2) the responsiveness of the creator to questions on the Kickstarter AND BGG 3) the big one: they seem to know when to cut off the stretch goals. Not getting caught up in the stretch hype train and overextending yourself is the sign of a mature team. 4) seemingly realistic delivery date 5) multiple backed projects (shows they are not total Kickstarter newbies)
  10. Thanks for the advice! Any recommendations on color choices for deepening the shadows? My first thoughts would be: - Mahogany Brown in the deepest recesses of the hair. I did do a mahogany wash prior to highlighting, but more is needed it seems. - The skin is Rosy Shadow triad + Fair Skin HL at top end. Maybe Dark Skin for the shadow? - I used the Khaki triad on the pants and True Blue triad on shirt. Perhaps Walnut + shadow portion of the triad? - haven't started shading the boots, but I was planning on using the Ruddy-Oiled-Burnt Orange triad on them (and gloves, belts, etc.) Loving how she is coming along. Here are my ideas for your shadows and such although do what you like and feel free to ignore any or all of my ideas. :)Consider a burgundy wine or purple red for most of your shadows. I think the hair could use a bit of more shadows and highlights, maybe try the highest points of the hair to a blonde. Her pants would look great with a bit of burgundy wine mixed into your deepest color I think. I use burgundy wine a lot to shade my greens even olives. For the blue try adding a bit of deep red to the blue and apply it in the areas of deepest shadow if it leans to red just glaze a blue over it to bring back the focus to blue. I think the browns would also work with a purple red shadow to help tie all your shadows together. The skin though may be easier to shade with Chestnut brown mixed with a bit of tanned shadow of even your darkest rosy flesh, females skin shouldn't have too much shadow or you risk making her look old. A bit of linen white would help pull the fair skin a bit higher in spots. Although after looking at her skin again maybe start with glazing a ruddy color softly in her shadows and even a bit to ease some transitions. Oh and try adding a white relection to her eyes. Overall she looks like she is off to a good start I like the blue vest it helps add a pop of color. Her face is very pretty and I look forward to seeing her finished. Thank you for the extensive advice! I'll try some of those tips out.
  11. I haven't gotten it to the table yet However, I do have it on good authority from one of my friends that I will very likely enjoy the game. I was a sucker for the chibi figures and really liked what I saw in all of the reviews/gameplay videos.

  13. Here's one I did for Earth Reborn: https://boardgamegeek.com/image/1397903/earth-reborn His gun seems a bit flat to me. Here's another one I submitted to the Inspiration Gallery: http://www.reapermini.com/graphics/gallery/4/IG_1440_3.jpg Again, the gun seems a little flat.
  14. I've been staring at an assembled, partially painted Adventure Sophie for the last year or so. However, I was able to make some process over the last few weeks. Critique/advice most welcome! Progress: - Shirt and pants done - Flesh mostly done. Her lower face looks weird in the picture due to the bad lighting, but much better in person - Hair - Whip Main ToDos: - Leather bits: boots, belts, gloves, etc. - Wings: going to be using the Dark Skin triad for this. Based with Dark Shadow. Bone triad for the claw on each wing. - Gun: Doing good, realistic guns still eludes me. Any advice? - Base stone, etc. Edit: Sorry the post title doesn't conform to guidelines.
  15. EDIT: I've started a completed figure thread, which you can find here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62776-arcadia-quest/ I just started on my Arcadia Quest (CMoN) figures. I'm trying to match the art as much as possible. Critique most welcome! First up are Diva and Spike Progress: - base coat done - face mostly done (may do some touch ups - eyes Main ToDo: - NMM Gold on the sword - NMM Steel on the sword and belt buckle - NMM Red on Armor (yeah, lots of NMM on this one) - Cape - this will be much paler pink once I'm done. Progress: - base coat done - hair done - flesh mostly done - hands need some more touch up. This was my first free hand tattoo. Pretty pleased with it Main ToDos: - Clothes (including his braid scrunchy) - NMM Gold on the axe handle, cross bow handle, and one of the teeth - NMM Steel on the axe blade and arrow - Teeth - waiting on an order with some Ivory to wash those.
  16. Yeah, I dropped out of this one because it just doesn't feel right. Especially with Middara already taking my first-timer-Kickstarter trust at the moment.
  17. Also, I'm sure it's been said already, but a Talin's concepts Art book add-on would be great!
  18. Some highlights Bones 1: #668 Bombshell Babes: #43! Still one of my favorites Ninja All Stars: #1865
  19. Thank you so much! It was my first success with wet blending.
  20. Colors Used: Body: Blood Red, Fire Red, Phoenix Red, Fire Orange; Pine Green/Some dark brown (forgot which) wash Horns/Teeth: Bone triad; Brown Liner towards base of horns Wings: Dark Elf Skin triad Claws: Midnight Blue, Noir Black, Rainy Grey, Snow Shadow, Aircraft Grey, Linen White - was going for a little bit of a NMM look Belly: Tanned Leather triad Base: Stone triad; Muddy Brown/Leaf Green wash. Lots of Brown Liner lining
  21. Done painting, varnished, and ready to start basing.
  22. So much this. I just sank $255 into a gaming Kickstarter in late April. My fundage is low. OTOH, this is encouraging me to eBay the troll out of my Netrunner swag... This is so me. I am about to add a bunch to my Ninja All Stars pledge and am realizing that I really don't need all of those alt-arts for a game I stopped playing.
  23. I've been a long time lurker and haven't been really good about tracking my painting, but I figured it was time. My current project is a Reaper Bones Red Dragon. So far, I have most of the base coating down (sans base and claws). I've been attempting a bit of wet-blending on the wings, but I think they need more work. Looking at the picture, I also see some more mould lines that could use some work. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the progress. Colors used so far (my base is my darkest color): Body: Blood Red Wings: Dark Elf Skin triad Horns, teeth, etc: Bone Shadow Belly: Tanned Leather
  24. I would love to see a set of the not-Suckerpunch girls by Patrick Keith: 50232: Karla 50229: Ishio 50228: Whitney 50233: Grace 50238: Farrah
  25. Joni Eareckson Tada is a quadriplegic who learned to paint with her mouth and ended up becoming a pretty successful artist and author. Pretty cool story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joni_Eareckson_Tada
