With the exception of Vallejo Mecha primer, my experience with brush on primers has been they do not adhere well to Bones so I would not recommend them for minis that will be used for gaming where they will be handled a lot.

I haven't tried this primer, but as I understand it the Mecha primer is Vallejo's version of Stynylrez and is pretty similar in formula and how well it works.  I do have the Mecha matte varnish and it's turned into my favorite for both brush on and airbrushing.

Stynylrez is what use for primer and it's works great with an airbrush or brushed on.

This are rebranded "DaVinci Maestro, Serie 35", I can buy the 2/0, 0, 1 and 2 (same as XS, S, M and L) for  44,25€ (around 50$) shipped (10€ for shipping). EDIT: Tax included.
Squidmar's ones cost me around 65€ shipped (17€ for shipping!!!)...
Ok the box is cool, but no worth the difference IMHO.

I wasn't trying to suggest the price was amazing, just that it's not crazy out of line. Some of the other brush kickstarters run many times the standard cost of compatible brushes. If these are alterations (even minor) the amount they cost over the standard DaVinci brushes seems like it probably makes sense from a cost perspective. Whether it make sense to actually pay the premium for them depends on whether the tweaks he say they did are things you've been wishing for.

  3. For I'd either get GW or Army Painter. I'd probably suggest getting one of each to start with and see which you like better. For colors I'd start with a black and dark brown, then a flesh and sepia. Beyond that I'd just make you own as needed for most color and only buy something if you has a specific reason to.

It's a plastic Warhammer miniature, and it was primed 2 weeks ago, and it actually looks really clean and even. So I gather I don't have much to worry about? Thanks all of you for the input!

I'd gently wash it to remove any finger oil and if that doesn't hurt the primer you should have no problems with it. In general as long as it stays clean more time after priming isn't going to hurt anything and with many primers waiting 3-7 days between priming and painting is actual better.

Latest update had them saying 800+ pledges hadn't filled in their surveys, so this may be the case. (Spam folders)

I think 800 out of 10,400 surveys still being outstanding after 1 week is pretty normal for a kickstarter even without surveys ending up in spam folders.

Not sure what the appeal is, other than maybe fans of Squidmar supporting him. Both the busts and brushes seem quite expensive. Can get some Raphael 8404s for quite a bit cheaper, especially after factoring in that shipping. But I guess you get a cool case... though, storing a brush vertically after use is not exactly a good idea.

But good for him for getting so much support so quickly.

The set of 4 comes out slightly cheaper than getting Raphael 8404s from Blick before shipping, so the prices aren't that out there.

I though my Rosemary & Co Series 33 was what all miniatue painters was dreaming about?

I wonder what these can offer that sn't already on the market?

He said compared to the Series 22 they'd have bigger bellies and more bounce in the tip. I'm pretty sure the "perfect" brush for painters like him is just minor tweaks to what's already there. I thought he had said who the manufacture was, but I can't seem to find it now.

I'm wondering if they are re-thinking getting rid of their online store.. even if it was just for their own products

It's not really gone just relocated. All their NA product is warehoused by Asmodee now so it's sold out of the Asmodee online store. It would be nice if they rethought the entire Asmodee deal though.

I think everything else (that wasn't KS exclusive) eventually made it to retail.  Just not that box.

But I just looked and it appears the elementals actually did make it to retail.  At least it's listed on a couple online shops.

I think everything made it to retail, but was in fairly limited quantities. Once something sold out it was gone, nothing had a second print run.

Anyone know what the optic sensor is for? If I get it, I'll have to buy as i spaced off the share & email them part to get it for free.

There seem to be two theories. The main one, if I'm understanding it right, is it's a better quality spare part replacement for the Z axis optical sensor that is already included. People were asking for it because the sensor on one of the review units had issues. Though that particular review unit also had one of it's belt tensioner smashed, so it may have been a case of physical damage rather than the part quality. The second one is that it's a replacement part for the filament run out. In either case you shouldn't need to buy one unless the included one fails at some point.

    Weren't they bought by Asmodee?

And Asmodee isn't in great shape either.

No, but they now use Asmodee as their North American distributor. That means that outside of items received directly from kickstarters CMON products effectively no longer offer customer service in NA from CMON itself. With Asmodee in charge of customer service replacement part for missing and damaged components no longer exist and the only means of service is working directly with the store the game is purchased from with varying results.

New update. CR-6 Max! Print Size 400×400×400mm! Can't find the price difference right now though. Tempting for the extra build size but not sure I need it.

The way I understand it, once you start getting that big the weight/momentum of the build surface moving back and forth can start causing problems. Something like the Ender 5 Plus, though a bit smaller, is probably a better configuration for large prints.

Oh, I just assumed they were still going to use the same drivers they've used in soooooo many other Creality boards, hence why my comment being the way it was.

The board they originally were coming with was the same or similar to the silent board that they've been selling as an upgrade for the current printers.

The newer stepper drivers are virtually silent, especially compared to the stock ones, which squeal.

The stretch goal drivers won't really be any quieter than the initially included ones. They will be maybe slightly more precise. The main feature is they put out a lot less heat so overheating the board is less likely to happen. I think they might also have a few extra tweaking options that won't be relevant to most people. It's really similar to the 32bit upgrade in that it's nice to have in case you every do something where it matters, but most people will never notice the difference.

How does the original game actually play?  I watched a video of a game and it seemed rather dull.  But maybe that was just the people I was watching.  Seemed like a lot of running away, and that just doesn't sound cinematic to me.

I think it's one of those games where you get out of it what you put into it. If the people playing get into it then it would be fun, but if they just play it it will fall flat. It's also a semi co-op, which means it can break fairly easy if people "don't play it right"

I'd like to imagine the original Nemesis project is fully shipped. I've had my copy for ages now.

Not one of their last three projects. Checking the comments though it looks like some people are still reporting their games as just arriving within the past couple weeks.

KS page doesn't say if s/he has the rights to make the stickers.

If it's anything like how Fantasy Flight Games tried to get the rights for the Dune boardgame (and didn't), s/he probably doesn't.

While I think it's unlikely she got permission, they've been more open to licensing recently. The Dune board game is even back in print now.

Late August was the original date for Frostgrave 2nd edition.  They've been quiet about delays for it but most of their other projects have had some delays due to the impact of the pandemic.

They've said it would be a Nickstarter, with a plastic box they were keeping a bit under wraps.

As of April 29th they are still saying August.

Yeah, with that many still in development, and barely any fulfilled that's an insanely huge red flag to me...

To add another one, it looks like stores are canceling preorders of Joan of Arc 1.5 and it will no longer have a retail release "due to circumstances beyond their control". I suspect that the legal problems that they were certain would be wrapped up in their favor in no time are dragging on and potentially not as solidly in their favor as they thought.

Unfortunately, they say only the shipper can file such a claim in this case since the package never reached me. If it had arrived damaged, that would be a different story. I pointed out to CMON that only they could get compensation from FedEx, but it didn’t change their refusal to make me whole at all.

It's pretty unlikely FedEx would pay anything on the claim even if CMON filed one. As far as they are concerned once it's marked delivered that's it. There have been rare occasions people have reported success, but they are exceptions and usually seem happen when a police report is filed.
