  1. I haven't been painting much Reaper lately, but painted up this beastie for Jimmy The Brush's July community challenge. Everything on the beast is TMM.
  2. It's actually a very similar technique. I learned it from Michael Proctor at ReaperCon. First, base color. Then shade with a thinned down, very dark color. Blue Liner in this case. Finally, highlight by mixing your base color with a bright metal, Vallejo Metal Medium is what I see most people use; I think ProAcryl also makes a pure metal flake.
  3. It's been a while since I've painted a Reaper miniature, so I thought I would post my latest creation here. I had a lot of fun painting this mini - blue is one of my favorite colors to blend with, and I enjoy painting fun hair, like her braid in the back. TMM was used on the metal.
  4. It's been a while since I've painted many reaper miniatures. I weapon modded this this Reaper Solar for use as a Privateer Press Morrowan Archon. His shield is a 3d printed, upscaled Stormcast shield without the Sigmar emblem. Morrowan symbol is freehand. Skin is MSP Olive Skin Triad, hair is MSP Blonde Hair Triad. Blue is MSP Desert Sky (with Indigo Black and Ultramarine Blue). Silver undercoated MSP Nightmare Black, then VMC Oiled Steel, P3 Quicksilver and Vallejo Metal Medium. Red is MSP HD Crimson Red (with Red Liner and S75 Blood Red). Wings are Citadel Contrast Apothecary White, drybrushed with Citadel Dry White. Gold is Citadel Gehenna’s gold.
  5. Is "Let's get Stoned" one of the classes with problems? It doesn't show up for me when I try to purchase tickets. Nevermind... it showed up just now
  6. Looking forward to continuing our adventures in color!
  7. I got a fierce Oni warrior from Sanael. Thanks for the beautiful mini.
  8. We're down to two weeks left to finish painting and mail your mini. PLEASE try really hard to mail by the 15th.
  9. I'm glad you like her! Everyone else can check her out here:
  10. A fun mini I painted up for the Spring Mini Exchange. My partner wanted a) female b) non-human skin-tones c) horns, d) practical clothes. 3 out of 4 isn’t bad. Her wings got replaced with the wings from the Bones 3 Sophie, as Princess’s wings got fatally bent in transit. I used zenithal priming for the major shadows and highlights, MSP Clear Red and DR Payne’s Gray for the red, MSP Bright Skin triad + MSP Splattered Blood for her skin. VMA Steel over MSP Midnight Blue for the weapons. The same Midnight Blue is the base for her thong-dress.
  11. Yeah, there's regular communication and they're getting fairly close to production. They suffered from a bit of over-reach which increased the complexity of the project. They've also announced this game will not be released at retail due to cost.
  12. Mini, ready to be shipped out when I can make time to visit the post office. Click here for spoilers.
  13. Finished up my mini tonight! I'll post pictures shortly. Speaking of pictures, please send WIP pictures to your organizer (or post in this thread) by April 1st.
  14. They work for Circle, Legion, Skorne and Trollbloods... just sayin' :)
  15. I paint a lot of Privateer Press models because I play their games, but only post those I really enjoy to this forum. These porcine ladies were tons of fun to paint up. Much of the model was suitable for directional highlighting + inks, or basecoat + wash, which gave me lots of time to work on the fun parts: the hair. And boy do these girls have lots of it. I also shot them against a different background, which I thought I'd post since the whole photo just gives a different feel.
  16. Yes, that's who I'm using for the captain - I wanted to have an even number of Grey Maidens to make it easier to build encounters with groups of them. Having three "levels" of them should make it easier for my players to differentiate between relevant individuals in an encounter.
  17. A squad of Grey Maidens. They show up in Curse of the Crimson Throne a bunch, so I’ve painted a captain, a couple lieutenants and some grunts. I didn't spend a ton of time on them, but I think they came out looking reasonably nice. The biggest mistake I see is the "halo" on the captains hair isn't right in the front.
  18. 19 total people in this exchange. My half of the people have their assignments, and robinh should not be far behind. Get thee to painting!
  19. 16 people signed up so far. Get your sign-ups in by Sunday if you want to participate
  20. The Spring Exchange has gone live! I hope lots of people can sign up for it.
  21. Welcome to the 2018 Spring Miniature Exchange! This is the thread where I'll post announcements, and you can post questions, let people know that packages have be mailed or received, or just talk, get suggestions, and show off the awesome mini that your partner sent you. If you've never done an exchange before, how it works is like this: Everyone who is interested PMs me with the questionnaire below filled out (please don't just send an old one, as the questions may have changed). I then match you with a person whom you will paint a mini for, and a second person whom you will receive a painted mini from (sometimes it's the same person). You have until the deadline to send your mini out (please try really hard to do this, though we understand if sometime life gets in the way). That's pretty much it, feel free to PM me with questions. This exchange is based on trust. Please be respectful of the fact that someone else is investing their time, money and energy into painting a mini for you. I am simply the organizer, but I will do everything I can to make sure that everyone who paints a miniature receives one. The Rules (tl;dr version) Fill out the questionnaire below and send it to me via PM. Painters must send the organizers a WIP of their mini by April 1st. Paint your partner a mini and mail it to them by May 15th. Full Rules Fill out the questionnaire below and send it to me via PM. Please fill out the current version of the questionnaire, Please don't just send an old one, as questions may have changed. Reaper minis are the focus. If you want to paint more than one miniature, you may do so. If you wish to include other gifts for your recipient, you may do so, but please keep them small. There is no hard and fast rule, but keeping the value less than the price of a single miniature is a good rule of thumb. The focus of the exchange should be a Reaper product. Please don't contact your partner unless they have listed themselves as okay with contact. I've included it on the questionnaire, so you'll know who wants to keep it secret and who doesn't. In order to encourage people to start painting early, you will need to post a Work In Progress (WIP) image of your mini to either this thread, or as a reply to your organizer, by April 1st. The mini should be at least base-coated by this time. If you don't post a WIP by this point, I may have to drop you from the exchange. Please don't make me do this. Try really hard to get your miniature out by the deadline. Let an organizer know if you are going to be late. If you are mailing internationally and plan to send more than just miniatures/paint, you must contact your recipient to get any "bonus items" approved. We don't want any trouble with customs. As an example, plant matter or powders can cause a lot of trouble. The organizers (fanguad, robinh) can help facilitate any anonymous conversations you want to have with your partner. Have fun! Deadline The deadline to mail out miniatures for this exchange will be three months from when assignments are sent out, on May 15th. You must post a WIP image of your mini by April 1st. Assignments Deadline The organizers will send the assignments out in about two weeks (February 15th). Please let me know if you're interested by the 10th. I can't make any guarantees if you're late, but I will try to make arrangements. Exchange Assistant robinh will be helping me run this exchange. He will coordinate and communicate with approximately half the participants. You can contact either of us if you have any questions or issues. 2018 Spring Exchange Questionnaire -Mailing Information- Name: Address: -Miniature Information: Outbound- What can you paint? We will attempt to match people with similar preferences, but can't guarantee this is the case. Is there anybody you would prefer not to paint for? (please include why) I painted for johndoe123 in the last miniature exchange. Notes: If you like to paint for a variety of different people, you can list those you've painted for in the past. We will do our best to pair you with someone new. Another situation is that you know certain people in real life, and would prefer to paint for someone you don't know. -Special Requests- For the organizer, your painter, or your recipient:
  22. I looks like the majority of people have received their gifts. If you haven't received your gifts and would like an update, please contact robinh or me. Thanks to everyone who participated, and especially thanks for being on time - I think this was just about the smoothest exchange I've run. I hope to have signups for the Spring Exchange up in about a week.
  23. I received a beautifully painted monk and a generous supply of both miniatures and candy from SGHawkins. Thank you, SGHawkins!
  24. 2017 was a good year for me: 109 models (including a few terrain pieces). Mostly Privateer Press, but a few Reaper and other models mixed in as well. The Reaper models: The full set:
  25. Did the items contained in the letter make it through safely? I posted a thread in Show Off of the finished mini.
