  1. I would have, had I known I was even going to entertain getting one. Up until I sold those football cards, it was going to be a "maybe in 12 months" type of thing since it wouldn't fit into my current budget. Once I knew how much I was bringing in, I knew I needed the tools and headlights, and I thought I COULD use the rest of the money to pay off some debt, but that's all I've been doing for a while now with most of my extra money and wanted to do something fun part of it. I still have a few hundred extra to throw towards debt, so it's not like I'm being completely irresponsible LOL Once I get everything all set up, and a little more free money, this is my current list of "have to buy": Cold Giant Dark vs. Gray Dragon: Kraken Green Dragon Blue Dragon Ancient Red Dragon Tiamut (because who wouldn't want this bad boy sitting next to Reaper's version???) Cthuhlu Bahamut Asian Fire Dragon Mind Flayer Dragon Just noticed that's going to be a LOT of resin LOL And, with all of the Reaper (and other) dragons I already have, I'm going to need more space to display them when they're painted! I'm sure my wife will love that
  2. Great! Mine are in route to me and will be here tomorrow. I even bought about 30+ bucks worth of STLs to start with
  3. Well. gotta start somewhere LOL Yeah, I'll probably end up getting more. As to what to design, I have actually been working on sculpting some tokens to print that are for the Marvel United game from CMON. The cardboard ones just don't seem like they will be super durable. I have the first one figured out for the main token, but have to put the design on the top and bottom for it, and that will be the challenging part. Of course, I'm using AutoCAD for it, since making proper angles for corners doesn't seem to be super easy in Blender and Mudbox.
  4. Thanks for the tips!! Been doing a bunch of research before I finalized the purchase, and I feel pretty confident in my choice, and I am looking forward to a new challenge :) Not like work, taking classes for another degree, raising a 5 year old, working on house projects, and still trying to paint everything wasn't enough challenge, right?
  5. I personally try not to go directly to China. I know there's not much that you can get that doesn't touch their production facilities in some way shape or form, but at least going with Amazon I could get mine and pay someone at the Amazon shipping centers instead of someone in China. That and I only have to wait until Thursday to get mine LOL My wife has Prime, so just ordered through her account.
  6. You'll have to let me know how the Mars 2 Pro is. I thought about getting that one, but Amazon and other US sellers didn't have it in stock. I've never owned a 3D printer, and from what I've read the Anycubic is nearly as good as Elegoo (with some minor cons in comparison to it) and I don't know enough about it to really care about marginal increases in speed or resolution... anything will be better than what I have right now LOL I also liked that the tray for the Mono can be used to wash and cure in their wash station.
  7. Yeah, the values of cards depends on the player and the rarity. A lot of the stuff I sold was very low numbered and hard to come by, and Adams is a high profile player this year (with the records he broke for the team). Still, I can't believe it sold for so much, so I'm still in shock. Turned out to be a perfect storm of timing for it: COVID stimulus, Adams doing fantastic, Packers getting first seed in the playoffs, the COVID price surge, and people getting money for the holidays. Heck, I even accepted a promo for selling when listing them without paying attention to what it was, and it limited the final selling fee for 10 auctions to 1 dollar, and those ended up being the most expensive of all the cards LOL Only pad 119 dollars in eBay final price fees for 3800 in sales! Seems that eBay chose poorly when giving me that promo I think the printer, wash station, and the resin came to about 460 total, which isn't too terrible. Did a bunch of research and had long discussions with a friend of mine who also wants to get into it, and that combo of the Anycubic stuff seemed to be the best combination of value and quality of prints. I'll definitely have to post stuff as I get it printed. I have a number of things I HAVE to print and paint! LOL
  8. I've thought about getting a resin 3D printer for a while, but finances the way that they were it just wasn't something I wanted to spend money on. Here before Christmas, though, I decided I was going to list some football cards I thought I would get decent money for on eBay and see if I couldn't free up some spending money that didn't affect my budget. They were Davante Adams rookie year cards (Packers WR) and were in a set that has a high demand. Since COVID hit, the sports card market has skyrocketed, and I figured I'd be able to hopefully get about 1000 bucks for the 22 cards that I had, which I figured I would use towards new headlights for my truck that I need. Boy did I underestimate the demand on those! Ended up pulling in almost 3800 for them before eBay fees and shipping costs! I was flabbergasted! Anyhow, so not only am I going to be able to get the headlights for my truck, I paid for new brakes for it (they're not quite bad enough to be replaced, but getting close), a new ceramic water bowl fountain for the cat (old fountain is getting long in tooth), some new Dewalt 20V power tools (old Ryobi stuff needed replaced), stuff for my college courses, and I decided I would get a 3D printer for something fun! All that and I'll still have about 500 bucks left to play with! Anyhow, I got the Anycubic Photon Mono printer and their wash and cure station, and a 1 kg of clear resin. Amazon had a 40 dollar off coupon for the printer. Should be here on Thursday! I already have a list of things to print with it, and have even decided that I am going to find an online tutorial for 3D sculpting that I'll sit down and do with my 5 year old, and we'll get her sculpting her own minis to paint :) She's already told me that she would love to do that, I just need to find some stuff to teach us. Sorry for the novel LOL Just really excited to be able to say I got something (besides just minis) fun to play with which didn't kill my budget or my credit card balance to get!!
  9. I've heard you could sell Ed on eBay for a decent price, and it would be worth the extra shipping. Might even pay for the rest of your pledge
  10. Excuses, excuses LOL I completely missed out on Bones III for the same exact reason. Didn't even know it happened until Bones IV was announced.
  11. LOL Wish I could have kept mine to that small of a list!! My Rewards
  12. I think I have an idea of why, but I added some links to the main post. You should be able to click on those to see the pics (I've had other people have the same issue and the links work for them). He was EXTREMELY fun to paint! Yog I anticipate I'll spend more time on (more eyes LOL), but the sculpt is just so darned intriguing! Models like Narl and Yog are exactly why I am so enamored with what Reaper has done with Bones. Ok, and I admit, I LOVE the dragons they do as well! Julie can't make a bad dragon in my mind! Also why I can't wait to get my grubby hands on the Pirate ships. Ugh, is it time for fulfillment yet?
  13. My goal was to paint through my Bones I stuff really quick. Life seems to have not wanted that to happen LOL I STILL have a few Bones I minis that I haven't painted yet! A bunch of Bones II, missed Bones III because of my daughter being born, then got a bunch of stuff in Bones IV. Still have a bunch of stuff from IV to paint still. Now I have a BUNCH of minis coming in the spring... Once i get done with my second degree that I'm working on I'll have far more time to catch up on them, but that's what I get for deciding to go back to college when I'm in my 40s LOL Yog is going to be a BLAST to paint :) You just need some inspiration when you do it. It was like Nyarlathotep from Bones IV, I didn't know what I was going to do with him until I had him mostly assembled and primed.
  14. Well, they DID say things were going to be turned off in multiple updates. So much so that I ended up buying a third ship because I decided I wanted to keep 2 and sell one to help take the sting out of buying 2, knowing they could be turned off. That said, there would be people who would still complain and Reaper would still get some flack if they did the flashing letters. Heck, one other campaign I'm waiting on rewards for gave free minis to people for a mess up from Wal-mart because they didn't care what the release date was, and lo and behold there were people complaining that we're getting 2 free minis because Wal-mart screwed up. Reminds me of working at Wendy's in high school (what seems like a lifetime ago) and people would complain about promotions that were going on where they got free food, or would complain because something was wrong with their order and the manager gave them not only replacement for their food but vouchers to come in and get another meal for free.
  15. I realized when I looked up this mini in the store that I didn't make him very crimson.... LOL My wife and daughter both told me he is sufficiently creepy looking, especially the eyeballs (see if you can find the one that's NOT on the staff LOL). I particularly enjoyed painting the staff and the book :)
  16. Whoops, looks like I forgot to add the links for a few members who don't have my images load for them in the forum for some reason. Captain Quidd 1 Captain Quidd 2 Shield maiden 1 Shield maiden 2 Shield maiden 3
  17. I apologize for the lack of focus in the pictures, for some reason my camera wouldn't focus on the whole miniature instead of either the lightning bolts or the body.... I'm pretty happy with this, and I think my wife is going to love getting it along with the shieldmaiden! I contemplated doing an additional drybrush of white on the lightning, but after testing a small area decided against it as it sort of cluttered it a bit too much. I tried my hand at some freehand on the base where the lightning touches the ground, and I also made the eyes yellow like they were glowing, although it doesn't show very well in the pictures due to the light washing it out. I've got some other minis I got from the person who printed this for me, like Set (Egyptian god), a wizard, and a dragon, but those I'm going to paint after I finish Dance of Death. Critiques always welcome! http://www.bojesphob.com/Army/printed/Thor1.jpg http://www.bojesphob.com/Army/printed/Thor2.jpg
  18. Thanks! Was a lot of fun painting them! Thor is going really well now too, and hopefully will have some pics of him tonight (as I need to package him and the shield maiden up so I can wrap them for Christmas!). I wasn't sure about Quidd until I got him in person, the render was intriguing, but I could see when I bought it how it might not translate to mini form very well.... man was I glad I was wrong! So far it's the best mini I feel I bought from this batch to be honest!
  19. I took a hiatus painting Dance of Death to start painting some minis I had printed for me from Etsy. The Sheildmaiden is for my wife for Christmas (along with a Clay Cyanide Miniatures Thor). The Captain Quidd is from RN Estudio's patreon. I actually didn't know if I liked the Captain Quidd from the renders, I saw it had potential, and for the price to have it printed for me I figured it was worth taking a chance. I got the minis on Thursday and was absolutely ecstatic about the Quidd once I saw it in person! Was one of those minis that when I saw it for the first time I knew exactly how I wanted to paint it! The only thing I wasn't sure of was the beard and hair, but after painting everything else, I noticed that I actually liked it as the white that I used for the primer, so I went with that. The dark skin and red eye really works well with the rest of the colors!' Shieldmaiden Chieftain
  20. I got dark depths specifically for the giant, dragon, the beholder thing, nessie and the (ahem, appropriate) merfolk for my daughter to paint. The rest I'll probably pass along to someone else who wants them on one of the auction sites or through here depending. I'm odd, though, I have hundreds of painted minis and don't actually use them to play games I just love painting them and displaying them in my mini mancave in the basement.
  21. Thanks! Yeah, I like the way the stone turned out, wanted it to sort of have the layers like what I've seen in places like the Mount Rushmore area and at Pike's Peak. I think I was a little heavy handed on the lighter drybrush I did to top it off, but it still looks like approximately what I wanted. I was using a new drybrush that I hadn't used before, and it seemed to have held more paint than I was expecting Might have some more time the next couple days to continue. I won't do the tree or the snow until after I finish the dragons, but figured I'd like to visualize it before I did it so I had some sort of plan. I gotta try to find those scenic trees somewhere in my computer desk lol
  22. After completing T'Raukzul, and currently waiting on a batch of minis I ordered from Etsy to paint for my wife for Xmas, I decided to start my Dance of Death from Bones IV! I have the mountain top painted up, and put the base coat down for the green I'll be doing for the top dragon. I think for this I am going to name this "The Female of the Species is more Deadlier than the Male". The lower one will be the combo of green colors you see on it's shoulder, and I will make the wings brightly colored, almost like what you see in birds or reptiles where the males are colored in a way to attract a mate. The second picture is my plan for the base, made using the original image and photoshop. I am going to put snow effects on it, and I have some Natural Scenics trees and one will go under the dark green dragon on top. Will sort of make it feel like they are "dancing" on the top of a mountain. I'll get better pictures as I go along, I couldn't get the lighting quite right with the second dragon being bright white!
  23. No hurry! Just thought it would be a fun modification if it would work! Thanks!
  24. Not sure if you can answer this, Jon, but do you know how the anchor on the ship compares in size to the anchor in the Brinewind expansion? I was thinking about doing some modifications on one of my ships and making the anchor on one of my ships have the skeleton from the expansion replacing it. Do you think this would be feasible? Since part of the brinewind anchor is covered by the base, I wouldn't probably be able to replace the whole thing, but the shaft and eye for the rope I could if the sizes line up. If you can't answer that easily, that's ok, I'll find out when it all arrives, but was curious :)
  25. I would say you'd probably want to have it updated with them by the time they started shipping stuff. As long as you do it before then, you should be fine. If you need to change closer to the actual ship date, I would imagine your best bet at that point would be to contact Reaper directly, as they may still be able to do something for you. Are we REALLY virtually half way through December? With how quick this year went, we'll be getting our boxes of stuff before it feels like 2020 should be over!
