I second the TAP varnish.

Yeah but rest assured, "they are looking into it". Rofl. It's funny cuz I posted that topic about a year or so back and they assured me (quite rudely, along with the community) that I was wrong. Fast forward a year and now all the reputable community members are squawking about it. I just don't feel like I can "trust" them because so many colors have just straight up changed. Anyhoo!! That's what I love about the Reaper community. People listen, offer advice, and aren't quick to judge/throw around insults.

Actually I traded my entire lot of GW & P3 paint for about $1300 worth of Dark Eldar, so they were worth it in the end. The reason I purged myself of P3 paint is the lack of quality since the reformulation. Black should not take 10 coats to cover. Khador Red Base is now orange. Skorne Red is not the deep rich red color it used to be (there are a few threads about it on the Privateer Press forums - Ghool goes into extensive detail in a few of them). Take what I say with a grain of salt - this is just one fat guy's opinion.

A little off topic, but when do all of these other bones become available for general purchase? Also are there pics up somewhere of what they will be? I missed the kickstarter while I was institutionalized (see: only cared about GW products). EDIT: nvm, found it. /smackself

I spent about $200 on the new GW line of paints on release day. I win.

But the mold makes it easier to paint mushrooms. /insertstupidNelsonfromTheSimpsonslaughhere Yeah, that was bad. I can't believe I even said that myself.

I love using a pyrex dish with a lid. Keeps the paints nice and moist for a loooong time.

I absolutely agree that it's best to go on feel. I was just wondering if I was anywhere near the ball park for starting a basecoat (and I wasn't, hah!) I go by how the paint feels when I stir it and how it looks, but with RMS being relatively new to me, I wasn't sure. Vallejo is really easy for me to get a good consistency with because I am very used to using it. GW is even easier to get the consistency right - you just open the trash can and throw the pot right on in there! Especially their new line... ugh

Beginner questions on paints
mrbspaintjobs replied to Einherjar101's topic in Tips & Advice: Painting
I can NOT emphasize this enough. I have wasted way too much money on miniature paints (I just got finished trading off 163 paints from GW (new and old) and the P3 line for a Dark Eldar OOP army... yay for 70's looking sci fi goofiness!) just to never use hardly any of them. If you are just starting out, it is absolutely worth every penny to buy nice brushes (since they're not that much more expensive than "hobby" brushes) and good paint. Buy a Winsor and Newton brush or two, and buy the Reaper Master Series HD paints to start. -

I wonder if it's Mint Green. That looks pretty jade-y. -
