I think I found all the skin!

It was done with a base of Dead Flesh, given a Purple Wash, then highlights of Dead Flesh and Dead Flesh/Off-white. The exposed gums and "skin holes" were done in Hexed Lichen/Off-white and the teeth and bones are Ochre Yellow with a Sepia Wash.

I also noticed his helmet has ear-flaps, I just did these in Red Leather.

I'll make a start on the coat next.

Made a start by doing all the bits that needed drybrushing.

The axe head is Leather Brown with a Dry Rust Wash and a Fire Orange drybrush plus a bit of Oily Steel on the edge.

The fur on his hat and coat started with a base of Cold Grey/Ghost Grey, then drybrushes of Ghost Grey and Off-white, then some Brown Wash and then more drybrushes of Ghost Grey and Off-white.

Also did the top of his hat and shoulder-pad in Bronze with a Verdigris Wash, was going to drybrush it with more Bronze, but I thought it looked good as it was.

Next, I've got to try and find all the bits of zombie skin.

    Great stuff!

    Thanks!

Had a couple of minor disasters that put a stop to any progress for the last couple of days.

First, Jelsen got knocked off the table. He now has a bent rifle barrel, and the stake part of his stake launcher pinged off into that weird void where all little model parts go when they're dropped. So I had to patch him up as best as I could.

Second, my idea for the vampires skin didn't work. The Purple Wash worked great on smaller areas like her face, but went very blotchy everywhere else. So I've had to set her aside while I rethink that one.

Been prepping the next batch instead:-

A Priestess, a big zombie (Who's getting painted next) and some rats.

  4. Well it's official, come the end of March England is giving up on Covid (barring the appearance of a nasty new strain),  no more restrictions or regulations, it's going to join flu as just one of those things we put up with.

We did weather Omicron surprisingly well, and numbers are going down across the board, but once again I'd prefer if this was entirely a science-based decision and not political shenanigans.

  5. Thanks for comments everybody!

Glad that others like his pose, I think I'm always going to see a badly based mini though.

Great figure (Damn, I want one now...), and great painting.

I think the placement gives it a greater sense of motion. It sort of has the feeling that he's walking along the bottom of the ocean and looking down into a deep trench. The only thing I might suggest is doing a bit more with the empty space on the base - perhaps put a shell or small sea creature in the middle. (If you put a turtle there, he could either be walking on the bottom of the ocean or be on the shore about to walk into the water.)

There is a ruined pavement behind him (That he was meant to be standing on), unfortunately he's the only one of the set that works in an underwater setting, and I like to have matching bases, so a shell is out, but I will definitely put some thought into putting something on there.

Presenting the Wayward Mariner, this poor soul is from one of Malifauxs Special Edition sets (I think he's part of an alternate Molly crew) by Wyrd Games.

Very happy with how this one painted up, my only problem is how I've had to awkwardly wedge him in one corner of his large base to accommodate his overhanging anchor, looks weird and stupid.

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

They look great, looks like old ivory.

    Thanks!

Honestly I'm a bit surprised at the lack of detail.

Anyways, Jelsen is all done and off to the Show-off section:-

So far I've just bascoated her skin with Pale Flesh/Elf Skin and given it a Purple Wash.

Presenting Jelsen the Vampire Hunter from Games Workshops Warhammer Quest:- Cursed City board game.

Pretty pleased with this one, I was worried about how to paint certain areas (Like his little tucked away face), but I think he ended up looking decent.

How is [are] your New Year Resolutions holding up?

PS: sorry my quizzle yesterday caused consternation, it may be rephrased more clearly later...MWAHAHAHAHA

They're doing okay so far, but they're pretty easy to stick to (Basically, keep up with my exercising and try and do some hobbying every day).

    How tall is this figure?

For that matter how long is that Zweihander sword?

    I've got a ruler somewhere, let's see...

He's 37mm tall (47mm including his hat), with the sword itself being 40mm.

    Painted the last bits.

Painted the handles on everything Iraqi Sand with Leather Brown stripes and a Brown Wash (Not sure if the stripes look weird, I just don't like plain handles).

Also painted what it I think is a bottle (I'm going with Holy Water) in Magic Blue/Off-white with Off-white edge highlights.

Just gotta do the base now.

    Quizzle for 17 January, 2022:

If you lost all your minis, what would be the first you would replace?

Considering the sheer amount of minis I have that can't be replaced, I think I'd probably just start over with new stuff, maybe take the hobby in a new direction and focus on busts and "Big" minis instead.

Quizzle for 15 and 16 January 2022 [wow, halfway into the New Year already]

Do you have anything stuck to your fridge? And if so, what?

Ours is covered in ancient fridge magnets and lists (There's a "What's in the freezer" list, a "What we're eating this week" list and a "Stuff we need to buy from particular stores" list).
