  1. Yay! The webstore is open! ...Ouch, the international shipping costs are pretty shocking, I'm going to have to re-think my plan to buy them a mini at a time.
  2. They are looking very nice, hopefully this means things can start getting shipped out soon.
  3. Made a start on her armor:- Love how the blue turned out, metallic colours are going to show up on a lot more of my mini's (I've got some Infinity figures on order that are going to get covered in the stuff!) The gold trim isn't going so great though, I'm making quite the mess with it plus it doesn't seem to be showing up too well. I'm on my third coat of Antique Gold at the moment and it's still pretty patchy.
  4. Almost finished the outside of his backpack:- Super proud of the job I did on his bit of intestines, its a basecoat of Vallejo Warlord Purple with a 1:1 Warlord Purple/Flat Flesh highlight and a Vallejo Hexed Lichen wash. Not sure if that's the actual colour of guts (its not something I really want to research) but I'm very pleased with the results. Now its onto all the gooey contents in his pack, plus I should be able to paint his victim at the same time, then I've just got his staff left, yay!
  5. I can't remember the names of the paints, but the back of the shield is painted dark brown, you then paint on light brown lines to simulate a wood panel effect. It comes up somewhere towards the end of the instructions.
  6. Seconded, I don't think red would look right.
  7. ....Wow. Really can't think of anything else to say.
  8. Say hello to Razia 2.0 :- I seem to have made her super-evil! Got a little further than last time, did her hair in Oiled Leather, shaded with Ruddy Leather and highlighted with a 2:1 mix of Oiled Leather and Pure White. It looked rubbish so I covered it in an Oiled Leather wash, looks better but I think I need more contrast.
  9. I'm with ObsidianCrane on this one, very glad I've got the Bone's version coming.
  10. Thanks. I think I'm just getting a little frustrated with how long he's taking, in ye olden days (when I just used to slobber pre-made washes over everything) not only would he be finished by now, I'd probably have gotten a couple other guys done too.
  11. Got a bit more Festus done, but its going very slowly. I've found a big spot on his backpack I can't reach (I think I needed to paint it up before I attached it to him) and its really annoying me. Add that to having to deal with the wonders of 'Finecast' and my layering not working out like I want it to, and this project is seriously starting to drain my painting mojo. But enough moaning, piccy time:- Finished the Imp, he's got a basecoat of 1 Vallejo Royal Blue to 2 Vallejo Andrea Blue, then a layer of pure Andrea Blue and a final layer of 1 Andrea Blue to 1 Reaper Pure White, with dots of Vallejo Light Green and Vermillion covering his various skin imperfections. And I've mostly finished the bag part of his backpack, wasn't too sure how to paint this so it's just a base coat of Reaper Carnage Red with highlights done in a mix of 4 Reaper Blood Red to 1 Reaper Pure White, just got a few leechs to paint and then its on to the next bit.
  12. That's great. He's really angry at that skeleton!
  13. the skin looks a bit ashen, not enough rosey in your base coat? it's kinda hard to tell from this picture. I completely agree, Mine looks pissed imo, and chan's looks nervous I love how the eyes give the mini an entirely different feel. Her skin is pinker than in the photo (the lighting in these quick WIP snaps I'm taking is terrible), but she is very pale. I'm not too worried, it makes her look evil. Mine's got no pupils, it's giving her something of a slightly terrifed, wide-eyed look that's entirely intentional and has nothing to do with me still being unable to paint tiny dots Like I said somewhere else try spitting on or (gasp) licking your brush, Helps Sooooo much for doing tiny things like buttons and eyes. The point on my brush is fine, its my shakey hands, they keep making the dots too big. There's been a bit of a disaster, while intently focusing on basecoating her stupidly ornate armor, I lost my grip and she fell into my wet pallette. To make matters worse, I was a touch heavy handed cleaning her up, leaving her covered in patches of bare metal. So she's had a good scrub, and I'll re-prime her tomorrow.

  15. Fantastic! Wish I could zoom in to have a real good look at all the little details.
  16. Made a start on Kit 5 today, painting Razia first:- Only got her skin done so far. I'm trying to stick to the paints included in the Kit, so I've used Laurana's Rosy Skin formula from Kit 2. Looks nothing like the skintone Razia has in her pics in the instructions though.
  17. So doing a proper glass effect is a bit above my skill level, but I did go back and add some edge highlights of Pure White to the flask in his hand. Looks quite good, but doesn't show up in my photos, so no new piccys of that bit. Started the wood panelling on his backpack (Reaper Walnut Brown basecoat with a Ruddy Leather drybrush), but I kept catching his body with my hand so he got a good varnish instead. When he's dry I'll give the wood a touch-up then it's Imp time!
  18. Just bookmarked Hasslefree's online store so I can nab those two when they go on sale, so cool.
  19. Don't be. With Cassu being a Proper Artist you would expect her to have good brush control even if it is her first mini. My attempt with this kit was only very average but I was pleased with the results as my fine motor control is really poor (you should see my writing). I've started on kit 2 and I'm struggling as there is a lot more detail to paint. Once I get the base coating done I will post some pictures. Plus, it's not her first. One of, but not the... and she knocked those ones out of the park, too. We shall be watching her career with great interest... evrn as we continue to smear paint in our ham hands... Don't worry, my main reason for looking at other people's mini's is too see things my ham hands aren't capable of, It just gives me a touch of the frowns too, unfortunately..
