  1. Picked up Temple of Elemental Evil and Dungeon of the Mad Mage board games from Cool Stuff Inc's scratch and dent sale at Dice Tower Con. Just missing Tomb of Annihilation.
  2. In Orlando for Dice Tower Con later this week. Spent some time at the beach yesterday and today. After 50 years I seem to be learning how to not get sunburned. I can be taught!
  3. Got an answer (sort of) on Reaper Live. The line is not discontinued but with everything else going on it's not a priority. "100 percent maybe" for returning to production, a Kickstarter is not planned at this time.
  4. At Origins I tried Century Golem Edition, Roll Player, Clank! In Space! And Root. All were fun, but boy was Root confusing.
  5. I cannot find the pre-painted Legendary Encounters line in the new web site. Maybe my search abilities are just weak. I sent a question to Reaper Live about the long rumored LE Kickstarter, maybe they will give us an uodate on the line.
  6. Looking for fantasy anime recommendations. Enjoyed Record of Lodoss War and its associated remake and spin offs. Also liked Rune Soldier (which apparently is set in the same world as RoLE?). Enjoyed most of Slayers except when they repeated the same story line. Tried Full Metal Alchemist, didnt keep our interest. Any more like RoLW out there?
  7. I'll just leave this here... https://youtu.be/34CZjsEI1yU
  8. Lots of stuff from Origins: Century Golem Edition, Roll Player and its expansion, Boss Monster 3, Tiny Epic Galaxies, a Game Topper table mat, dice, and a nice bag for carrying board games:
  9. Origins this year was... different. Not bad, but no Reaper Mini, no Cool Mini or Not, no Games Workshop or Forge World, no Wyrd Games, no Crocodile Games. Did all these miniature companies coincidentally decide not to come this year? Or is Origins somehow discouraging mini companies? Iron Wind Metals was there and of course WizKids along with Gale Force 9 and a few other smaller companies, but it seemed weird. I still had fun and spent too much money, but it was... different.
  10. So I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't blame Reaper for not announcing bad news in advance. If they anmounce it in advance many will object about the news and will complain again when Reaper does not change the decision in spite of the opposition from fans and customers. If they don't announce in advance then many fans and customers (maybe the same, maybe others) will object to the change and complain about the lack of communication. I dont see that either strategy is more success oriented for the company. I think I would deliver the bad news when I had to and move on, focusing on communicating the good news.
  11. Sitting at an otherwise empty table at Origins Game Fair waiting on players for my Basic Fantasy RPG game. 8 AM is always questionable for running games at a con. Last year I had 5 or 6 players for this slot. I wonder how long I should wait? Been a half an hour now. Think I'm gonna call it.
  12. Another option I have used is after sealing (which inevitably knocks down the gleam of the metal flakes) is to paint over just the highest highlights with a matching enamel metallic flake paint such as Testors. Used sparingly it brings back the gleam and is pretty durable.
  13. Not film noir per se, but the Thin Man series of films are quite good.
  14. The 1st Harry Potter movie will be old enough to vote this year.
  15. They've stated they will not be there but are still sponsoring the paint and take area. I don't recall what if anything was said about speed paint.
  16. From what little I've done with resin, multiple pours work best for anything deep. Unless you are using a pressure pot, deeper pours will often result in bubbles that never make it out before the resin cures. I would make the first pour 1 cm / half an inch deep or so to minimize any catastrophic failures of the tape dam. Once the first pour is cured it acts as a seal and helps hold the tape in place. You might end up having to sand and/or polish the sides to get it clear regardless of the material used as a dam. Good luck, and pics or it didnt happen!
  17. "I'm in it to win." Really? Thanks so much for clarifying that, because none of us are here to win. We'll just let you get on with it then.
  18. Be sure to call your mum tomorrow. I wish I could. Call my mum I mean, not yours. That would be weird.
  19. I recall the 420 referencing 4:20 PM, the time when a particular group of high (lol) schoolers would meet to partake. My memory is not very reliable though so I could be wrong.
  20. I agree, the darker areas look more concerning. The white discoloration looks like an over zealous application of mold release agent. I have acquired game box bands; I am pretty happy with and recommend them.
  21. Others with more art knowledge (oh, @Pingo...) can weigh in, but I don't believe printers' ink will be very color fast. I expect they would fade with a decade or so. I could be wrong, though.
  22. My errant Mossbeard showed up today, sans Entwives. Reaper was extra kind and included a sample bottle of paint, a nice pale indigo color that will be good as a highlight for Nightsky Indigo.
  23. I just acquired the Humble Bundle 3d printer file bundle. Yikes, that's a lot of files! And the charity is the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society, how could I not? I don't even own a 3d printer (yet).
  24. Reaper already shipped my replacement Mossbeard; they said he should be "lumbering my way".
