  1. Does anyone know if the fire giant jailor is a huge (bases on a 3x3 base) or large (bases on a 2x2 base)?
  2. Thanks. Huge is what I'm looking for, as we're playing 5e. I saw the other giants had large and huge versions, so I wasn't quite sure what the jailor was.
  3. @haldir In Facebook I requested the same thing. HEre's what they said: Me: I would love to see an official actually modular building in this theme if that’s possible! Being able to make larger buildings or duplicate maps would be awesome Them: I just wrote almost an essay about modularity in the comments. I think we'll do that in a kind of "by popular demand" effect, but my experience with city adventures (definitely as opposed to dungeon adventures) is that they tend to move around in much less predictable directions. So at least for me as a DM it's more helpful to be able to grab a couple of floors and put them together than to assemble several smaller pieces. Dungeon adventures are structured, but city adventures, at least the way I run them, tend to be a matter of speedy response. Them: But the request is noted, and I will start talking to Iain about it. Me: thank you for considering it Them: @me You've convinced me. I'm not in charge of what pieces get made, but I will definitely put in a firm request. :)

    The last mini of 2018

Slimming the queue is the trick isn’t it? Kickstarters have made me something of an unpainted mini hoarder... Great job on the face. I love the eyebrows and rosy nose.

    77490: Mara Frostblade, Antipaladin

She looks fantastic! I have some color shift metallics on order from green stuff world. Excited to play with them if I can get results as nice as yours!

    Announcing Reaper Bones Black!

I’ve had luck with brush on primers for regular bones, as well as Army Painter primer. I also had luck putting down a non-watered down basecoat. Literally add 0 water. If you need to thin, use flow improver. The main thing with regular bones is to wash them throughly with soapy water and a toothbrush. Then prime or paint them before you’ve handled them a bunch after the washing, as oils from your hands can prevent paint from sticking. To be clear on the owlbear for January, is it retiring and will no longer be available after this month, or will it be like the dungeon dwellers and can still be purchased in the future, but will no longer be a free option for qualifying orders?

    Announcing Reaper Bones Black!

I can, because the first model for it was announced a Reaper Youtube video ;-)
  8. A user in the Dwarven Forge Facebook group pointed out that monster hunter blind box figures were the perfect scale for D&D, so I picked one up to see how it faired. I really like this creature! I completely repainted the tail as I did not care for the heavy-handed drybrush work of the factory paint, and it was touched up everywhere else. The base is a "huge" that I stamped, then pressed the mini into while the green stuff was still pliable. THe "waves" are actually dirt/moss from the Basius IMperial stamp, but I tried to paint the to look like waves because I thought this fella looked like a water dragon. I am eager to use it in a future campaign. Neat critter! The first two photos are the completed touch-up. The middle is the stamped base I made before I attached him. THe last two show the mini's factory paint job and hex base for comparison. The factory paints weren't too bad, and may be a good option for someone looking to fill out a table with unusual monsters quickly.
  9. I would love to see an entire expansion focusing on underwater races and monsters. I've been gunning to run an aquatic campaign, but it's been tough to find minis to fill it out. Merfolk in various armor Sea Elves Cecaelias (Octopus merfolk) Aquatic Goblins Aquatic Trolls/Scrag Merrow Crab People Marid Selkies in Seal Form Hippocampus Dolphin Eel Stingray/Ixitxachitl Whale Skeleton/Zombie Trilobite/Horseshoe Crab Chuul Aquatic Dragon Sea Serpent Morkoth Plesiosaur Great White Shark Hammerhead Shark Thresher Shark Megalodon Shark Wastrilith/Aquatic Demon Piranha Swarm Large Octopus Aboleth Aquatic Naga

    Dwarves, Elves and Demons

Just under 2 days left on this. There’s a ton of stretch goals unlocked, and the project creator said in the comments that the next SG to be revealed will be a big one. Personally, fingers crossed for dungeon-tile style elven buildings. I like me a good modular gridded building. >.>
  11. A few touched up prepainted minis. I touched up a few of these a year ago, but today I decided to bring out the green stuff and stamp some new bases for them. The chimera and darkenbeast are from the D&D blind box minis. The peryton, falcon, and ruffian are from Pathfinder battles. The falcons were complete repaints, as the original was a brown falcon. I wanted an "eagle" with a celestial and demonic template, as our summoner was using them extensively at the time. I tried to make sure that the peryton had two different bases, as the paint scheme on them is identical and its nice to have some differentiation on the table so that you can track who has what damage. The falcons and the peryton are all "grasslands" stamp that I just painted differently!

    [SPLIT] Vortex Shakers

I added 4mm hematite beads to all of my paint bottles, and its made a big difference in how quickly they shake up. Was a bit messy cracking everything open and putting them in, but worth it I think.
  13. I don’t have any holder currently and have been using empty paint bottles, but I’d really like something like this to help steady my hand. I backed for the 2 piece option. :)
  14. I've only worked with resin a couple of times, and it's always a struggle to find a primer that will stick to it. I hope this guy holds up! Base is from secret weapon miniatures.

Early Snow, Female Witch from Dark Sword Miniatures

Oh that's a unique mini. Looks like she's pondering what to do with that dagger.

89014: Seltyiel, Iconic Magus - BONES

The magus and his little friend look great. Great color choices and attention to detail. The one things that's sticking out to me (and it could be the photography) is that the yellow in the fire looks a bit muddy. Maybe it needs another coat? the orange and red in the fire look fine, as does the rest of the mini.
  18. Will any existing bones be updated to bones black, or will the new material be for new releases only?
  19. It was snowdrift white, apologies. I got mixed up because of the paints I ordered.
  20. I also received the same bones, along with coal black and snowdriff white paints, a reaper ornament, a postcard, and some candy.

    Unpainted Minis from Wizkids

I may pick up some more monsters; I got the beholder from my Flgs. however, after seeing them in person, for 90% of the items I personally prefer the reaper aesthetic. The heroes in particular had great detail, but looked too small and thin compared to my reaper minis. The centaur, gryphon, and t-Rex monsters were also quite small. I did love the beholder, shambling mound, and pathfinder goblins. Most of the rest I can pass on. That said, it’s great to see another affordable option, and variety is good for everyone. I may not care for the thinner models, but I could see many who prefer the more proportional aesthetic. :)

    Kostchtchie, Demon Prince of Wrath

Lookin’ good! This fella was recently hinted at in a pathfinder adventure path I’ve been playing, so I’m waiting for him to show up.
  23. She looks beautiful! Against the black background she looks as if she is floating. Love those cloth details.
  24. Some quick touchups of prepainted blind box minis that I had. Some base coat cleanup, washes, and a touch of drybrushing really perk these guys up! Not gonna win awards or anything, but a satisfying short project. The bases are made with green stuff and Happy Seppuku stamps. Before and after. Fun fact about the Leukodaemon: THose guys are supposed to be archers. The official artwork for them has a bow that's behind the demon, but it was interpreted as a back horn by the sculptor! Red Reaver and Leukodaemon are from pathfinder Battles, the Griffon is from D&D Icons of the Realms.
  25. I would also love to see storm and cloud giant huges. A gargantuan Phoenix would also be awesome. On fire and such. A large sized couatl in bones would be nice. Most of the monster info lists them as a large. https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/couatl/sku-down/14459#detail/14459_p_1_nm An assassin or murder vine in large. Small vargouille would be useful. A large “astradaemon” style outsider. A gargantuan astral dreadnought. Bones is really the only way to make this affordable. A gargantuan Neothelid. Ditto on bones and affordability. I updated this post rather than making a new one. There were some holes in my collection I’d love to fill with Bones! If I’m supposed to make a new post I can do that in the future.
