  1. I'm going to resist picking up a fresh mini until this lot is done and then maybe move on to something bigger, I've got some bigger bones as well as Cthulu and Nethyrmaul, but I'm not sure my brushes are ready for that big a step yet.
  2. Thanks all, I've always been terrified of freehand but when its bones I don't seem to care as much and am more willing to give it a go.
  3. An array of mainly bones completed over the last couple of weeks. First up is a rushed conversion to get a dragonborn paladin for my RP group. Happy with the armour, not so much with everything else, but its fit for the tabletop nonetheless. Another PC for my RP group is an Elven Cleric of Sehanine. Sehanine is a bit different in my campaign and has an aspect of vengeance, so her moon is the blood moon. Yet another PC, this time an Eladrin Swordmage. The player changed his mind about facial scarring, so I left it as it was. Next up a few changes of pace for me, a trial at some more sombre colours for a bar-keep, I think its still a bit brighter than I was hoping for, but its a start. Then a Boo-booty for my Super Dungeon Explore. I painted all the heroes as soon as I got the game, but the monsters have been sat undercoated for ages and I can't bring myself to get going on them. Finally my first sc-fi fig for many a year, ever since I gave up on 40k many many moons ago. Overall I'm happy with it, although my insistence of trying orange on stuff even though I struggle with it is quite annoying for me :)
  4. it seems that my painting time is rapidly becoming a rare commodity, but I managed to pick up the brush for a couple of hours this week. ginger Gandalf is almost done, I'm happy enough with the face but need to concentrate more on the little things I think. A couple more part progressions on some figs, I'm forever picking up the next thing before getting finished with others, but I think I'm at my limit for consecutive minis on the go. Pink rabbit is pretty much done, just some detailing on the flame and her base to do. I'm pleased with how the eyes turned out in the end, I'm sure I could get the fur looking furrier, but I'm more likely to ruin it entirely at this point, so best to leave it.
  5. Slow progress again this week. I've added a couple more bones to the list, one day I might actually have no figs left, at thus rate it will be decades though. Bunny mage is approaching the end of the line. I'll get round to putting up a 'show off' thread at some point with this last batch of slowness, but in the meantime here she is. I'm reasonably happy with her, maybe the ears need dulling down a bit, and the flame she's holding will probably take me ages to get right. First pirate for a while is up next. I am trying for foppish dandy but I'm not sure I'm pulling it off. I might try some brocade freehand on his coat if I can decide on a pattern beforehand. I'll normally end up making it up and it inevitably goes a bit wrong 😠Ginger gandalf is coming along. The hair needs a bit more detailing with some yellows and reds but otherwise I'm OK with it. Spear mage is also cracking along. I'll leave the face till the end with him as I'm waiting for my player to confirm on a facial scar that it going to means I might have to do it a few times. I'm trying for an autumnal look. I don't think orange is my best color though. Finally the 2 new additions, in all their primed glory.
  6. Not much progress this week, work's been kicking my arse with glee. The Dragonborn bodge job is nearly there, need to tidy up a few bits but I'm leaving it there and moving on afterwards :) The pink bunny mage has had a few more layers on the 'fur' and I'm thinking its almost there, then onto the fun of the rest of the fig and they eyes, oh dear, the eyes. I should learn not to buy stuff that has big eyes. I've found another Bones I was in the middle of colouring in, so I suppose I better concentrate a bit more on it than I had. Ginger beard the gandalf wannabe! and I finally added some more base colours to the elf spearman I'm going to use as a proxy Eladrin swordmage (with glaive) in my rp campaign. Once I've blocked out everything and added on some more simple detail I'll have to decide on the simple stuff like hair and trim colours.
  7. Managed to get about 30 minutes of brush time so far this week, hopefully a bit more over the weekend, but made some small progress. I've cracked on with the elf a bit more, he's supposed to be a cleric of Sehanine, but I think I'm improvising on it all a bit too much. He'll be close but not exactly what my player wanted. Inmy campaign the gods are in a war with each other and Sehanine is more of a bloody avenger aspect than normal, hence trying for a blood moon look. Hes at the even messier stage at the moment, but the end is in sight. I think I'd be slightly more enthusiastic about the task if it wasn't a bones mini, I find the lack of facial detail disturbing :) I'm distracting myself with the beautifully simple Tooth & Sword minis that recently turned up from Meridian Minis. I'm starting with the Bunny Wizard for my Daughter, hopefully it will help me focus on the pile of Bones I haven't gone near in months. Pink bunny, of course, well, eventually And then there's the Dragonborn, I wish I had chosen a different head for the fig, but I was a little worse for wear at the time and I've never been one to go back and rework stuff unless its vital. I'm going for mainly ruddy brown to red armour with white detailing and a big yellow stripe up the middle in the shape of the armour back and the 'skirt' It might end up being hideous but if I dither around to much it will end up in the pile of half painted stuff I need to leave for months before going back to. Thankfully that pile isn't that big anymore.
  8. Thanks. Took me too long by far, but at least now its done. Base nearly finished too, just some touching up to do. Progressing OK with the other figs too, although I am making it up as I go along with the 'dragon born' The assassin is not as blue now and the elf is getting g messier before it gets tidied up.
  9. Next up some stuff with less eyes. Can't move away from blue stuff though. That's the next step I suppose :)
  10. Yup, its taken me ages to get this far due to not even touching a paintbrush for 9 months or so between times. Hopefully I'll be back at it a bit more regularly now. Time to make a dent in the mountain.
  11. So, over a year later I'm at least done with the thing, excluding the base. If I never see another gf9 mini in my life it will be too soon.
  12. recieved mine today, lovely figure, I'll post up pics later when I get sorted out. No note, but if you sent a fig to the UK from Tulsa, then I thank you :) **EDIT** now with pics
  13. Introducing Stinky Maisy the Witch, so called since she has no clue to her own nasty odour. She has no nose due a recent mis-cast (spell) in Tchy'nar. Her only wish is to recieve the coveted Doore prize, awarded to the magically maimed and scarred by the magical community. Crappy phone pics follow.
  14. Mines in the hands of the Royal Mail and winging its way west on an aeroplane now, was worried I wouldn't get it posted at all given how hectic work has been, but managed to get it done.
  15. Not sure, the eyes will be the last things I paint on it and will proabaly take me the longest as I hate painting eyes at the best of times. I am leaning towards a 'normal' round pupil rather than the slitted one that is on the box, maybe that will help.
  16. Actually that is a transfer, its one of the very old Epic 40k chaos marine tiny transfers, applied, softened up with Microsol and when its dried I painted a few highlights over the top of it. Thanks, I use a 0.3 and a 0.1 mm technical drawing pen, its permanant ink, but it does take a couple of hours to dry properly on the paint. I find it so much easier to draw stuff like that with a pen, my brush control isn't anywhere near as good.
  17. No progress on the beholder but I've got my bones and have been having a play around, in various states of completion: The gun wielding, power-fisted Silverback !

    The Case

I had some leftover Laminate flooring underlay which I'm using to cover the top tray.

    The Case

I'm in the same boat, all 3 of my trays have the same problem to one extent or the other. The case is a bit of a let down to be honest, I'm used to having to trim foam around slots to fit weapons sticking out etc. but the slots are pretty much useless for anything other than the small minis. With hindsight I should have just spent the $25 on more bones :)
  20. I am very happy with 99% of mine, the odd one I'm going to have to cut off the weapons and replace them with brass rod of something, I can live with bendy spears, its spaghetti spears that I'm annoyed with :) Sinessa the hellborn sorceress is especially bad, but then, its picture in the preview gallery is exactly the same
  21. Nice enough sculpts but the posing is a bit too 'board game token' for me.
  22. I got my mail on a Tuesday (UK), and tracking showed it took a week to get to Chicago, another 4 days to cross the Atlantic and then sat in customs for 4 days before being shipped out to the courier. Its now at the courier awaiting delivery to me tomorrow now I have paid my customs fees.
