Hello All, I was looking on the internet for some buildings to use with my Cav forces so having a look at the scale a lot of reasonable models pre-painted came up as well as the 4ground ones you need to put together yourself then I came across these ready damaged buildings. And theres a few different variants and they don't break the bank either. looks a nice kit comes flatpack and easy to just clip together, the Cav is for scale and as you can see not bad, just deciding whether to spray it then add some burns marks for recent damage or weathering to make it a bit more like the ones that I've seen done for drop zone commander with all the foliage on them. what do people think will use this topic to show any progress with my painting regards '66'

Hello All, I'm starting this thread to show my 10mm Warmaster armies that are currently done and the progress to finish them and the long just sitting there in a box LOTR Warmaster armies. I was inspired to have a look at this project again after seeing Lowylowlycook's 10mm LOTR armies that he's looking at putting together. Currently this is its status Good Evil some eastern figures which I bought (don't think they are available anymore) and 2 boxsets of the original game. as you can see quite a lot to do, but hopefully I can fit some of these units in my painting schedule this year

Well here it is part the 66th Legion of the UTF ready for deployment Stored away in a purpose build wooden box with steel paper bottom (all Cavs have magnetic sheet on bases) Been fun sharing the progress of the army and has been a good incentive to keep it going. A while back I made a travel set for Kings of War using 10mm minis. Most of the models I used were definitely inspired by the Lord of the Rings and ever since I've been mulling the idea of doing a full scale game. Recently my main gaming buddy and I went though a bad patch were we seemed to have no willpower to resist buying new games and taking on new projects. Part of that fall from grace was my deciding to go ahead and buy some stuff. You know A few models. Maybe a few armies. Just a bit. Overall the plan is to use 100mmX50mm scenic bases. The number of models on a base will be varied to bring out the "Last stand of Good against the overwhelming forces of evil" that is such a big theme of LotR. For rules, since LotR is such a low magic setting, I'm looking at building up from some historical rules. I like the looks of Sword and Spear for it's activation system but I should give Hail Caesar a try. Kings of War is very easy to learn and plays fast so it could go over well as a convention game with some custom army lists. Finally Pendraken has fantasy rules called Warband and there is already an unofficial LotR supplement. Rohirrim, i.e. Copplestone's Horse Tribe Overall I plan to try and put as much static grass on the Rohirrim bases as possible. The cavalry will be in wedges, with the horse archers in loose formation. Shield wall and archer will be in two deep lines, possibly standing on a gentle ridge. The Army of the Dead i.e. Pendraken's Late Romans I like the idea of these infantry standing ominously on top of barrows. Rereading RotK, they should have cavalry as well but I haven't bought any yet. Wood Elves i.e. Pendraken's Wood Elves Pendraken's fantasy ranges are quite big for 10mm but then again elves are supposed to be tall. I'm thinking that the bases will have to be leaf strew forest floor and I can make quite a few stumps and fallen logs with my Basius pad. I tried to make an entire 100mmX50mm base our of greenstuff using the pad but I'm not convinced that's practical. High Elves, i.e. Pendraken's High Elves The spear elves are in thin lines and I've tried to make the archers appear as if they are conducting organized volley fire. I'm imagining the sword elves to be in very loose formation to give them room to slice and dice. Dunlingdings i.e. Pendrakens Picts and Gauls Because you can't always be fighting orcs. They could also stand in for Wild men in other regions. Front and center is a unit of elite, armored troops. To the right large warbands of wild men. To the left some naked berzerkers. In the back javelin men. Seem to have missed the archers. Orcs i.e. Copplestone Orcs Lots and lots of orcs Ordinary orcs. The close ups shows snagas or lesser goblins being driven forward by what will be whips. Front Row: Warg riders with bows, Warg riders and wargs Behind them, Orc Archers, Uruk Archers, Uruks, Uruk Spears, Cave Trolls and Trolls. So that should be enough to keep me busy.

Recently, I had a mad idea to make a travel set for the mass fantasy battle game Kings of War. I could take it to my brother's so I can play it with my nephews and nieces, bring it to cons without needing to rent a U-haul, even take it to the beach. The general idea is to use 10mm figures instead of 28mm and scale everything accordingly. Since Kings of War uses unit bases with no figure removal I can fix these guys onto their bases and add some scenery, etc. After looking into what was available in 10mm I decided to start with two Lord of the Rings inspired armies, dwarves and orcs, based on the 10mm figures from Copplestone Castings with some figures from other companies to fill in any gaps. Anyway, I ordered a bunch of stuff (it's hard to say no when people are selling packs of 28 minis for just few dollars) and since they have a branch or at least distribution here in the US, the first to arrive were some dwarves from Eureka. They came before I was expecting them and I got all excited and gave them a quick bath, forgetting to clean up flash, etc. first. Yep, these guys are pretty small. The white bit of polystyrene is a 80mm wide horde base that should nominally hold 40 dwarves but my plan is to have the non-orcs with quite a bit less than that and if possible have more than 40 orcs on such a base. That's to give more of the feel of Tolkien's battles where the good guy are normally vastly outnumbered. More later.

This week, I've been working on some of my CAV vehicles from the Kickstarter, and I was thinking about a box of leftover Mechwarrior clicky base stuff I had, and the idea came to me to make a destroyed mech or two to use as scenery on the tabletop. I wanted it to look like it had sat on a long-forgotten battlefield for decades or centuries. I began by slicing the mech from its clicky base, and then I used a pair of pliers to rip the arms and head off. I then used a drill to make a big hole in the torso to look like where a missile had hit, knocking out the mech. I also used the drill to enlarge some of the holes where the arms and head had been connected. I used my hobby knife to pry open the cockpit, and then cut down a 10mm Warmaster skeleton figure and glued it into the cockpit to represent the mech's long-deceased pilot. Next, I cut some small sections of thin wire and glued them in the holes with superglue to look like cables that had been ripped apart when the mech was destroyed. I glued the parts with hot glue to a 3-inch plastic base that I had beveled the edge of with a hobby knife; and then covered the base with Tacky glue and applied a coating of sand. I sprayed it flat black, and then painted it with a series of browns and oranges to give it a rusted look. I painted the ground cover and added some static grass to finish it off. Nuclear Plant is the first piece and series of pieces I will be making for my wargaming endeavors. The idea of my pieces are that they will have multiple pieces: So instead of, "The building is now destroyed" and you remove it from the game board, you replace it with the completely destroyed version. On top of that, the constructed piece will have removable bits so it shows a change-over-time. I like a good atmosphere when I play. This piece I had in the back of my head during Thanksgiving last year. My sister-n-law made these desserts that came in these squarish cups. I turned them upside down and the follow is what I saw. Supplies: Squarish dessert Cups Cologne Sample bottles (from Mary Kay) Plastic card from an Electrical sign off a construction site Old plastic sprues from Gundam model. Woodland Scenic Realistic Water. and finally, the top antenna piece: a flow control piece from a faucet.

This week I completed the commander-in-chief figure for my 10mm Lizardman Army: The Mage-King of the Lizardmen. For the base of it I used the Games Workshop Lizardman "Tetto'eko" figure, which I was fortunate enough to get a good deal on from a friend at a convention Flea Market last year. To make the conversion from 28mm to 10mm I did a couple modification. First, I cut the tall feathers off of each of the side partitions to reduce the overall height appearance. And then I simply didn't add the pair of pillars that are suppose to go on the deck, and the three that are mounted underneath. After I assembled the throne, I test fit different arrangements of Pendraken 10mm Lizardmen until I found a pleasing composition. It was then just a matter of painting the throne and its occupants. I am pleased with how it came out. I think the original model is just scale-neutral enough to make a convincing king-sized 10mm throne.

I recently completed some 10mm fantasy figures for my "Bear Yourselves Valiantly" armies; which included a Lizardman Hero, a Cursed Knight Leader, and a Fire Elemental. I had a leftover Lizardman figure (I believe he was made by A.I.M.) and thought that he bared a striking resemblance to a certain purple TV Dinosaur, so couldn't help but paint him up as the great Lizardman Hero, B'uar-Nee! Recently I painted three 28mm Barrow Wardens from Reaper's Bones line, and was really pleased with the results (Which you can see here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62404-barrow-wardens-77346-thru-48-from-bones-ii/ ). So I thought I would experiment with a Warmaster Chaos Leader I had, to see if the rust effect I had used on the Barrow Wardens, would translate to 10mm. I'm very pleased with the results, and think I will now paint a unit of Chaos Knights I have as this sort of "Cursed Knight" look. lastly, I don't know who made this figure but I received it in a short-lived birthday figure exchange I was part of a few years ago, and since it was 15mm (I think) I never did anything with it. I came across it the other day; and not knowing what it was supposed to be, was struck by how the sculpted "fur" ? looked a lot like flames on it. So I decided to paint him up like a fire elemental. I think the result is pretty good.
