I got my caverns terrain, and... Wow! Cave Cliff Pack, Natural Bridge, stairway to violence, stone banks pack, and webbed lair adventure pack. Apparently a tote is still coming? And I already got texture patches. Things are currently getting scrubbed.

Experiments in hot glue
lexomatic posted a topic in Works in Progress: Sculpts, Conversion, Terrain.
So. I decided to try and make some ponds... Maybe with other water features. I have 2 silicone mats and several hot glue guns. I used both and used a fondant roller to flatten things out. I'm going to try a few things. This is about 1-1.5in x 2+in -

To help alleviate the last minute rush order or trying to have them shipped to the hotel, I'm reminding people that personalized badge ribbons are a thing. Because of forum rules we can't post a link to where to order them but if you post here, a certain @ub3r_n3rd fairy may PM you details. The standard size that Reaper makes their ribbons is: Personalized Badge Ribbon 1-5/8"H x 3-1/2"W FAQ What are the ribbons for?! Reaper gives out ribbons for various tasks like joining a faction, taking a class, spending a LOT of money in the Reaper Booth. Some are known, some are secret. Individuals also have their own ribbons made and have their own criteria for earning them. In the past there has been a prize for longest chain (without duplicates) but this is subject to the whims of Reaper. Can I make my own ribbons? Absolutely. Anyone can have their own ribbon. Come up with fun (family appropriate) phrase and a task that you will have the receiver perform (again, family appropriate) then contact a ribbon company to have them printed. How many ribbons should I bring? If this is your first time giving out ribbons, 100 should be plenty. If you are teaching a class, running a game or a vendor, you probably want more as you will be interacting with more people. Is there a list of all the Ribbons and how to get them? Short answer, No. Part of the fun is talking to people to learn how they got a particular ribbon. When the con starts, I'll probably update this post with a list of known ribbons. like the ones Reaper gives out or ones individuals want to share. (Please don't share the how to unless you have the OK from the creator) Not even one spoiler? Ok, if you want to get the "Ludo, Friend" ribbon, you have to bring Ludo a small rock. (Rocks from the hotel decor will not be accepted.) Bonus points will be awarded on how fancy the rock is.

REMINDER: THIS IS TODAY AT 6:30 PM Date: Sunday, Sep 1st Time: 6:30 PM Location: Houlihans (on-site restaurant connected to the hotel) Dinner menu: https://www.houlihans.com/eats-and-drinks/menu/dinner/denton Gluten-sensitive options (not guaranteed gluten-free): https://www.houlihans.com/eats-and-drinks/menu/gluten-free/denton Vegetarian options: https://www.houlihans.com/eats-and-drinks/menu/vegetarian/denton Seating is INDOORS. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It occurred to me out of the blue today that I've completely forgotten to call Houlihans (the on-site hotel restaurant) to see if seating for 30-40 people could be reserved on Sunday. I did this last year, and from all reports this arrangement was well-received and convenient for everyone. If there are no strong objections, I plan to call tomorrow (Monday) to see if such can be arranged again. I just hope it's still possible, it's getting a bit close... Last year I made the reservation for 6:30pm. For those that went last year, was 6:30pm a good time, or would earlier have been better? My thinking last year was that it would give some time after the auction for people to do some packing first (also gives a buffer in case the auction runs super long). Looking forward to seeing y'all SOON! Huzzah! --OneBoot :D

I'm not really sure when I'll get to these, but I found a bunch of cheap sheets that I'm going to diy into mats for wargaming. As it is, they're fine (I got green, blue, and brown, and passed on a grey) . But I might sponge on some various paints for waves/ ice (double sided blue sheet) and various greens for the green sheet.

I decided to do a quick prime of my kickstarter minis. Creatures on blue /green spectrum got grey primer, and those that are fleshier got a mix of yellow & brown primer and a drop of craft red because I had it handy. No idea when I can next paint. Already did a good job obscuring some details.

It this yesterday because it gives me a nice in-between mini from my reaper eldritch demon and my Cthulhu. This is about 90 minutes Lots of inaccessible spots and texture which makes painting not fun. Will be making this shorter than planned as a result. Everything will get a flesh wash. I'll do some eyes and claws, then a medium and ink wash of the clear plastic water.

While @Pegazus's Forumite bingo helps, I am TERRIBLE about remembering names. I will totally remember your face and what we did three years ago but for the life of me I can't even remember the first letter of your name. I figured I'd make a cheat sheet where people could share a photo and name so people can have a refresher before the con. Prefered name: Ludo Pronoun of Choice: He, It, Dude Huggability: Absolutely

Don’t let the time element scare you, this is about being silly and having fun while painting a mini. All supplies and the mini will be provided. Once the timer starts, participants will have 45 minutes to paint the mini to the best of their abilities. Sophie, (or one of her minions) will intermittently apply challenges to the painters, such as painting while standing on one leg, painting polka dots somewhere on the mini, etc. Sophie understands that not everyone will be able to perform all of the challenges and encourages participants to participate as much as they feel comfortable. Every participant will receive a certificate declaring how awesome and silly they are. This is a kid friendly activity, but we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult. Sophie Says After Dark This is slightly more adult themed version of Sophie Says, a fun cross of Simon Says and Speed Painting. THIS IS A PG-13 VERSION. ADULT BEVERAGES WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE TABLES AND THINGS WILL BE MAY BE MORE AWKWARD. Speed Paint All supplies and the mini will be provided. Participants are allowed to bring their own brush if they wish. Once the timer starts, participants will have 45 minutes to paint the mini to the best of their abilities. Once the time is up all painting must cease. All entries will be judged by specially selected stunt judge. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. All participants will receive a certificate to attest to grit and determination. This is a kid friendly activity, but we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult. Paint by Die Roll This is a group skill building event rather than a competition. Step outside your comfort zone and paint with color combinations. All supplies and the mini will be provided. Participants are allowed to bring their own brush and/or palate if they wish. All participants will receive the same mini, the group will then roll a d20 to determine which portions of the mini will be what color. Example: Last year there an ogre chieftain with Palomino gold skin, purple cloth, mint green metal, and pale lichen leather. Black, White, and Brown will be provided for shading and highlighting purposes only. Everyone will receive a certificate attesting to their willingness to try new things. This is a kid friendly activity, but we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult. Quick Conversion Let your creativity flow as you cut, glue, and pin your own unique mini. Use a collection of Reaper minis and pieces to create something new. Will you come up with a goblin headed rogue, or a beholder mermaid? It’s up to you. This activity will involve cutting implements and super clue so we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult. Ed Sculpts are Best Sculpts When Reaper was a young company and sculptors could get first hand references for their dinosaur sculpts, now president of Reaper Miniatures, Ed Pugh, contributed to the product line by sculpting many of the skeletons. Come raise the dead and socialize with your fellow necroma.....painters. This is a kid friendly activity, but we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult.

Hey all! Time for the 2019 ReaperCon Forumite Bingo! So, those of you who were on the cards previously, or got a card last year know how the game works, so you can skip the next paragraph. What is Forumite Bingo? It's a convention game I came up that is generally well received so I will do it again this year. The game is just like what a bingo game would be, but rather than calling out numbers to fill your card, you must go around and introduce yourself to members of the forum who are on your card. Say hi to them, and you can cross their box off. Once you've made "bingo", return to me for your Bingo ribbon. Blackout isn't required, but several people did it for the grins, and this year there will be a ribbon for doing that. And there's nothing to 'prove' you met those who you have said you have, just the honor system. You only punish yourself by cheating yourself out of meeting wonderful people. Each year there are more volunteers than spaces, so not every one was on every card, and hopefully there will be enough volunteers again this year. It made for a good variety. So, this thread is not for signing up to receive a card to play. This is a signup for people who are willing to be on a card. The cards will be freely handed out at the convention. Just come find me. Be aware, volunteering to be on the card will mean that complete strangers will be coming up to meet you, and they may not be actually signed up and be on this forum. That happens more often than I thought it would each year. If that makes you uncomfortable, then reconsider volunteering. So, the ground rules: I exclude the Reaper peeps since they are all pretty accessible. The game's purpose is to meet the forum members. I will continue that. Sorry peeps, we love ya, but I feel that's best. The free square in the middle will be me, since everybody has to meet me to get the card it seems the fairest way. You must be going to ReaperCon to be on the card please! And if possible, the full Thursday to Saturday at least. It's unfair to those whose card you are on if you don't show, or are a Saturday only person. I will not exclude you if you are a Saturday only (or similar) limited attendee. However, people who have you on their cards will get to cross you off without meeting you if you aren't there when they need you for bingo. By replying with the information below, you are giving your permission to use the picture provided and your name provided, and to be inundated with people introducing themselves to you. Once I've printed the cards (much closer to the con than I want), they are set in stone. I can't remove people from the cards, and they're a bit pricey to just toss. Plans change, life happens, and if you become a no-show, you simply become a gimme square and are crossed off automatically by those who need your square. It already happened once and well, it will probably happen again. We'll just roll along in those cases. Signups will be open from now until August 17th. That gives me a mere two weeks to randomize the cards and have them printed on card stock. If a mod would auto-lock this thread on that date, that would be appreciated. Once the thread is locked, no more volunteers will be accepted. One does not need to be very active on these forums to be on the card, but it helps people to recognize you. I will not turn away anybody that isn't very active if they really want to be on the card. If there's a question about any of these numbered questions, please quote the text since the numbering is automatic and I can't control it if there's an insertion. I will update these rules as questions and issues come up. All ready to sign up? Good! Here's what you need to do. Reply to this thread with: The name you want to use. I prefer your forum handle, so people might have some idea of who you are. They can always write your real name across the square as a way of crossing you off, but it's up to you what name to have on the card. What picture you wish to use for your square. Again, I prefer your forum picture, but if you are someone who changes it often, I might grab one that isn't current so having you explicitly give me one helps. What days you will be at ReaperCon. I'll put the days you won't be there on the square, and this will help us know if your are there that day or not. I'm only using Thursday thru Saturday, with Wednesday as a simple bonus day. This is optional, but if you could also send a recent picture of your actual self via PM to me if I don't have one already or your appearance has shifted drastically, I'd appreciate it. Something like a full on face shot, without costume. I have my ReaperDex/"cheat sheet" of sorts on my phone to help myself remember who is who. This way I can help direct people to those members they're still needing to collect. My brain isn't wired to put names to faces easily, and being tired from the Con won't help that. Having something I can use to point the way will help. Again, this is optional. I think that's it for now. See you all in a month!

This miniature is from a Midlam Miniatures kickstarter. The lack of highlighting and shading is intentional since I was going for the single-color arcade look. I had to put some putty over the sculpted eye holes to get a nice flat surface for the cartoony eyes. Overall I'm quite happy with Inky! This is for the video game theme portion of the RP Challenge.
