  1. The Fisherman's Rest. You know the place. The smell of stale beer, sea salt, rum, and fish scales. "Evenin,' Old Billy! How be ye these days?" "Oh, I be well enough, exceptin' as how me fishin' trip t'other day went. Now listen, lads. 'Twere a fine calm sunny day and I were far from shore, a-castin line for snapper..." "Wow!" "Nay, lad, there's none in town who can catch a minnow and sell a grouper like Old Billy." "Nay, swear on me old mum's grave it happened! But if ye find that hard to swallow, ye might be ill-prepared for what came after..." *urp* "no, now I think on it, twere more like this, aye, that sounds better." "...but the long and the short of it, I never DID catch that snapper." "Okay, Bill, time for ye to get some cold water in you." *** Chronoscope Pulp Ship's Captain and Ship Hand. Had them painted up, and the shark, but didn't have a good story until a friend gave me one of the Juvenile Kraken mini. Between the shark's integral splash-base, the squid's splash-stand, and the Water Elemental, we got some good scenery! I had a lot of fun making the Fisherman's Rest backdrop, too. Old Barkeep has heard all of these yarns before.
  2. Dreadmere fishing boat, not much, but it will get you in the water: Captain Blackcrumb: Finally, Mariel Twinspar. Did her as a speed paint at the con, cleaned her up a bit when I got home: Before and after.....
  3. I've been painting up the Stygian Barge lately and decided that since I was already painting lots of wood colors, I'd go ahead and do some other figures that shared a similar scheme. First up is the raft from the Dreadmere expansion of the last kickstarter and a barrel of fish that I think may have been part of another mini painted last year. Next is the Dreadmere Fishing Boat. It's not very big, I doubt I'll get more than one based mini in it at a time. But it's a wonderful little sculpt. I'd be happy with a boat like this in real life. Finally this is the boat and treasure chest from the Wizkids Kraken set. Unlike the Reaper boat, it's big enough to hold several miniatures, but it's fairly plain. Cheers and thanks for looking.
  4. Howdy, Fish! It's time to relax, Kev!
  5. The new Bones fishing boats are irresistible, and they paint up nicely. I got two! Painted one as a nice new clean-timbered one. Painted the other one... ...as a rotting, waterlogged, mildewing, algae-covered wreck. Who would trust such a vessel?! Well, adventurers, for one. But for another, how about people who can't drown? The bold skeleton in the fancy hat is Captain Razig (02437--there's another Capt. Razig sculpt, but the other one cost more and looks more Hector Barbosa). The scurvy cutthroat in the bandanna is Blackknife (14272). And the wretched dredgie with the barnacle problem is known only as Salty Saber. (Side note: I love everything about this sculpt's design, from the puffy waterlogged corpse-face to the jabot to the starfish and barnacles on the coat. SO much implied backstory.) "Shiver my timbers, shiver my soul! (Yo-oo, heave ho!) There are men whose hearts are black as coal! (Yo-oo, heave ho!) And they sailed their ship 'cross the ocean blue, A bloodthirsty captain and a cut-throat crew..."
