I am still not happy with the skin tones I have come up with for my basic Zombicide zombies... Most have been too green. So I wanted to try something more of a pale skin to grey color.. And believe it or not I am out of Bones zombies and that's to experiment on. So I found Goldar who is my proxie zombie. What do you guys think? I am actually happy with this one for two reasons: I painted him I about two hours total and I think this skin tone will work for my standard Zombicide zombies. It is VMC 2 parts basic skin tone to 1 part sky grey. Then a light wash of Army Painter dark tone Ink. Btw... I am going to stick with their ink since it dries in less than an hour, rather than two days for their quick shade dip. Once I get a Caucasian zombie skin I like, then I will have to work on an African zombie skin tone to add some variety.

Even a barbarian needs his teddy bear! This was an idea originally tossed around somewhere in the off topic threads ages ago that I'm only now getting around to working on. Decided on a slightly more subtle positioning of the bear by tucking it around the back.

I've been painting on this guy whenever I had leftover paint for the last year or so; it seemed like time to finish him up. C&C are welcome, but tips on what to do about his hair would be especially welcome.

Hey all! It's been a bit since I've been able to paint up anything. I started back to school and between that, the requisite homework accompanying it, and working (as well as trying to make time to see people and sleep somewhere in there) my painting has fallen by the wayside. I've had a little more freetime that I didn't spend doing other things here lately though, and one of the beneficiaries of that was Goldar here. I (like I'm sure others) envisioned him as a D&D goliath. I considered trying to freehand some tattoos on him, but I was too scared to try it and just left him as-is. Maybe one day I'll make an attempt. Sorry for the less-than-stellar photos here. Did them with my phone under a kitchen light (not the light I paint by -- but close).

Here are the latest PC models chosen by my players, painted quickly to get them ready for the game. They are all escaped slaves in the Underdark. This is Reaper Bones figure Goldar, Male Barbarian, which I painted for fun.

Another model complete, you may have spotted him next to the 15mm Romans that I was painting. This is a simple paint scheme, to try and get me back into painting 28mm models. I have left the mold lines on all the Bones models so far to try and keep me from spending too much time painting them, but I think I am going to have to start removing them. This model has such an obvious one. As always comments welcome as I add some detail to the base.

Hello everyone, just continuing my run of muscly men...for some reason. This time I tried to do a lot more, thinner layers than I am accustom too and I think it turned out nicely. I also tried to do a bit of NMM with more effort than the fleeting whimsy I did last time. Certainly something I need more practice at.

Here are five Bones I painted up to represent the PC's in my Pathfinder game (we're playing the Kingmaker campaign). With these I basically tried to shoot for the best tabletop standard I could muster; I did want them to look good as they are the protagonists of a game we might be playing for some time. However, I also wanted to get them done before the campaign was over (I'm slow), and I knew that my players would soon be handling them at the gaming table with their coffee-stained, pizza-greased little paws (hi guys!). First up is Oviara the Cleric (of Iomedae, Goddess of honor, justice, rulership, and valor), who has so far in the campaign been righteously delivering justice to wrongdoers by sword or rope in an awfully lawful good manner (hey, that's also my first attempt at freehand on the shield there; yay me!). Next is Eral the Sorcerer, who derives his arcane powers from the demonic blood coursing through his veins, and who has been reincarnated repeatedly throughout the millenia awaiting some unknown destiny (the scariest thing with this guy is that he is a strong contender to become the ruler when the group starts establishing their own kingdom later on in the campaign... *shudder*). Here is Theodor the Monk, a fearless man always at the forefront of battle. I cut the axe off Goldar to make him more... monk-y. That axe was always my least favorite part of the sculpt anyway, and also, a real man don't need a weapon to bash in his enemies skulls yo! In contrast, here is someone who isn't bothered by putting an axe to good use. Meet Gothmog the Barbarian, a towering beast of muscle, rage and flatulence, equipped with a surprisingly sensitive soul. Last we come to Solfein the Ranger/Wizard, an elvish youth of only 95 years with the personality of a typical teenager. Unlike most other angsty teens, however, this guy actually has pretty good reason for his dark moods, as he was banished from elven land after having strangled his one true love in a jealous rage. And finally, a group shot. Seeing them together like this, it is clear what a bunch of posers they are; Oviara has climbed up on a little step before gazing off into the distance, it looks like Gothmog is flexing pretty hard under all that armor, and Eral and Theodor have even ripped their shirts off for the camera. So far in the campaign, the gang has been valiantly combating these terrible monstrosities, but sooner or later they're going to have to face off against this guy, at which point posing cutely in front of the camera will simply not be enough...

Goldar, Male Barbarian (77047) - 0001.jpg And finished and based, with some Testors Dullcote: Goldar, Male Barbarian (77047) - 0005.jpg Goldar, Male Barbarian (77047) - 0006.jpg If I was to critique myself, I would say that it's time to try a bit more blending on my next one, with an intermediate highlight, and maybe some small extreme hightlights. My highlights were too light, so I had to go back with a flesh wash and blue wash to bring them down a bit. I will also remember to paint the eyes early. I am getting the hang of dilution, but probably need to be less afraid of wasting paint, since the little dabs I work with tend to not be fully mixed, so are weak and chalky. I'll start working with more figures at once so I can use the excess paint next time.
