Hi guys and happy new year to all of you ! Have to move place last year november so this get me away for a while from mini stuff , but I get back to it :D.. I have couple reaper in the work , just finished with this guy.

Long time, no see guys. Sorry I haven't been posting much. Recently moved houses which has taken a month to do so. Anyways, managed to get some free time which I used to paint this miniature. I first primed the miniature with a black primer before using a white primer at a 45 degree angle to simulate a light source. I stuck with a mostly natural palette consisting mostly of greens, browns and yellow. When applying the paints, I thinned them down first so that they were semi transparent. Doing so allowed the paints to show through the simulated light source from the white primer. To tie it all down , I used a dark green wash to blend the paint job. For the base, I shaped the main stone piece out of an eraser. After mounting it on the base, I used a hot glue gun to create some tree roots. I then used pva glue and coffee grind to simulate dirt and moss before allowing it to dry. Painting the base was simple. Just a lot of dry brushing and a quick wash to blend it together. This was my very first commission! One of MrBoot's coworkers was wanting a painted figure for gaming purposes, and my husband volunteered my services, for a small fee. I was more than happy to oblige. This was a (for me) fairly quick and dirty paint job. I spent maybe 4 hours total on it, with the first hour spent just prepping (washing, drying, trimming mold lines, priming, waiting for primer to dry, etc.) My goal was "decent tabletop" since it was intended for gaming, and the guy only gave me $15 for the mini+paint job. I did email him pictures of a couple of my other quick paint jobs to let him know what to expect before I started, and he said that he was happy with that level of detail. I'm happy with my color choices, and I at least made an attempt at highlighting, so while it's rough in these close-up pictures, it doesn't look half bad at arm's length. I wish I'd taken a close-up of his face, though; since it's so shaded by his hood, and won't even be visible on a gaming board, I didn't bother painting an actual face face. It's more of an impressionistic shaded blobs sort of face, but it looks surprisingly decent from even a short distance. You might notice some bubbling here and there, and that's because I did a gloss sealer coat (Reaper) for durability, followed by Brush-on Sealer to make it look nicer. I've done very little with gloss sealer, and didn't discover that it bubbles a bit more than the brush-on until it was too late. It's not super obvious unless you stare at it closely, though. I also want to note that gloss sealer is...super duper glossy. Like, seriously. In fact, I was worried that the brush-on sealer wouldn't be able to tone it down, but a slightly thinned coat (with two coats in a few still-shiny spots) did the trick far better than I'd expected! Overall, I'm quite pleased with how he turned out. He was a very fun sculpt to paint, and I enjoyed employing a "good enough, git 'er done" mindset. Main colors used (since I was focused on going fast, I didn't do my usual "take notes as I go", so I'm recreating this from memory + the bunch of paint bottles still on my desk) Robe: Ritterlich blue, Ultramarine blue, Ultramarine highlight Cloak: Rich green, Christmas wreath, either Leaf green or Grass green Skin: Leather brown, Elf flesh, Caucasian flesh Various leathers and woods: Mahogany brown, Oiled leather, Golden blonde? Boots: Brown liner, Dark elf highlight Hair: Coal black, Powderburn brown, Golden blonde Arrow fletching and gems: Carrot top red, Lava orange, Explosion orange Various metallic objects: Tarnished steel, Ancient bronze, Dragon bronze Ground: Drybrush of: Highland moss, Pale lichen, then either Leaf green or Grass green I admit to being rather astonished at just how many paint bottles I used on this one simple project, but in my defense, since this was my very first commission, I wanted it to look at least somewhat nice (in the hopes that others in his gaming group might be interested in the future ). Plus, I really had a whole lot of fun painting this guy. I looooove Bobby Jackson's sculpts, he always has so many fun details to play with, without being exceptionally fiddly. After it was delivered, MrBoot reported that the recipient was very pleased with how it turned out, and was "super surprised at all of the details" I'd painted on it. Apparently, he's used to prepaints. We actually ran into him at the grocery store a week later, and he again expressed how much he liked it, and how detailed it was, and that other people in his group might be interested in getting painted minis for themselves! Hello all! I've been wanting to paint these Bones Rats ever since I saw the reference picture for them like a year ago. The other day I finally sat down and did it! (All in one sitting to boot!) (Also pictured: 77054: Galladon, Male Wizard and 77049: Arthrand Nightblade, Elf Ranger, of whom I may do their own topic, as their my first mini's of 2016, and I'm quite happy with them! BUT I had more fun playing with the Rats!!) Since I did it all in one night, there was no point in a WIP topic, so if you wanted to see the WIP, click on the Spoiler: And on to the finished rats! We have some Albino rats, some black rats, some plain brown ones, and even some infected rats! Much of the basic style goes once again to the reference image from the Reaper store page. I feel they turned out pretty well! Normally for my tabletop playable miniatures, I'll finish them in a gloss varnish, then go over that with a matte varnish, to give them the best blend of protection and finished style. In this instance however, I opted to just go with a single coat of the matte (brushed on via Liquitex Matte). I know, not as protective, but it should do the trick. Plus even the first coat on 12 rats was surprisingly tricky. I'm glad I'm not a Warhammer player, I do not envy having to paint whole armies! Anyway, time for some fun! And thats the rats! Thoughts, comments?

I had a request from one of the guys I play Pathfinder with (he is a GM for one campaign, and he plays in another). He wanted an elf with a bow to represent his PC in the new Hell's Rebels adventure path we started last week. His only requirements were that it be a male elf with a bow, black hair, and earth tones for the clothes. As you can see, I went with browns for the cloak/robe and green for the cowl. I may do some basing work on it later, but it's ready for the table top at least. I had a lot of fun painting this one! Sorry for the bad quality photos. I can't find my SD card for my actual camera so I'm reduced to using my iPhone.

Here are two Bones figures that I painted last October, at the Reaper ArtistCon. They were my demonstration figures in the class on Monochrome Painting that I taught there. The only paints were black and white. After doing most of the painting in the 2-hour class, I spent another hour or two painting each one, touching up the painting with smoother blends and crisper lining. Monochrome often goes fast! I didn't try to paint detailed eyes on either one -- just a black outline and a white dot, to stand out from the rest of the face. When the King's Inquisitors arrive shutters are latched, children kept indoors, and marketplace chatter silenced. Answering to no one but the King himself they wear the royal color, purple, as a symbol of their authority. Their robes are white, signifying Truth, and grey, sybolizing impartiality. Hoods cover their faces so that they may hear, but not be lead astray by appearances. The leader of this band carries the Book of Law and the Hammer of Justice. He will use either as needed. These are based for tabletop play. Not that they'll ever see it.

I've been working on my set of bones I (and now bones II). First up are the PCs in my Pathfinder group. I painted them up for each player- the ninja in the back is from another manufacturer. 77076 is a new PC- that only lasted for 3 sessions before dying (again). The player has killed her PC 3x in dramatic ways. Next up I have a slew of Skull and Shackles villains: From the new bones, it's Mr. Bones II The rest are all works in progress. The cultists and hellknights: I still have the others (and one metal one) to paint up- I'm still trying to figure out what kind of theme (and how to paint black armor better!). Sea devils and wereshark: Finally some devils to complete the campaign: They're currently level 11 and starting book 4 of the Skull and Shackles path- we've been meeting biweekly for about 8 months. Feedback, suggestions, etc are very welcome. Thanks for looking.

Had some time at work to slap paint on Arthrand here. I'm trying to subtly add highlights to his cloak. I've not had much practice with it yet. I know I need to push them a bit higher still though. Also sorry for the sideways image. I'm uploading from my phone and it's gone wonky. I don't know how to fix it!

Continuing my latest photo session, all the non-pathfinder PC minis I've completed recently. I'm actually using Cassie as a stand in for Lini in our PACG sessions until Bones II arrives. Threw in a few familiars for fun, too.

Here are five Bones I painted up to represent the PC's in my Pathfinder game (we're playing the Kingmaker campaign). With these I basically tried to shoot for the best tabletop standard I could muster; I did want them to look good as they are the protagonists of a game we might be playing for some time. However, I also wanted to get them done before the campaign was over (I'm slow), and I knew that my players would soon be handling them at the gaming table with their coffee-stained, pizza-greased little paws (hi guys!). First up is Oviara the Cleric (of Iomedae, Goddess of honor, justice, rulership, and valor), who has so far in the campaign been righteously delivering justice to wrongdoers by sword or rope in an awfully lawful good manner (hey, that's also my first attempt at freehand on the shield there; yay me!). Next is Eral the Sorcerer, who derives his arcane powers from the demonic blood coursing through his veins, and who has been reincarnated repeatedly throughout the millenia awaiting some unknown destiny (the scariest thing with this guy is that he is a strong contender to become the ruler when the group starts establishing their own kingdom later on in the campaign... *shudder*). Here is Theodor the Monk, a fearless man always at the forefront of battle. I cut the axe off Goldar to make him more... monk-y. That axe was always my least favorite part of the sculpt anyway, and also, a real man don't need a weapon to bash in his enemies skulls yo! In contrast, here is someone who isn't bothered by putting an axe to good use. Meet Gothmog the Barbarian, a towering beast of muscle, rage and flatulence, equipped with a surprisingly sensitive soul. Last we come to Solfein the Ranger/Wizard, an elvish youth of only 95 years with the personality of a typical teenager. Unlike most other angsty teens, however, this guy actually has pretty good reason for his dark moods, as he was banished from elven land after having strangled his one true love in a jealous rage. And finally, a group shot. Seeing them together like this, it is clear what a bunch of posers they are; Oviara has climbed up on a little step before gazing off into the distance, it looks like Gothmog is flexing pretty hard under all that armor, and Eral and Theodor have even ripped their shirts off for the camera. So far in the campaign, the gang has been valiantly combating these terrible monstrosities, but sooner or later they're going to have to face off against this guy, at which point posing cutely in front of the camera will simply not be enough...
