  1. So I was experimenting with Taimaya clears and I wanted to share what I've painted so far. I think the colors come out a little dark, but I love the jewel like gloss they dry to. I am going to get me some Taimaya clear (with no color) and some Taimaya thinner and keep expirementing. The Ghostly Summons has a few layers of Golden Glow over top to start building up some highlights. And so does the NightSpectre.
  2. The WIP is here: A little less see-through than I'd like, but the light still passes. There is glow in the dark medium used, but it's not very effective, and would never come into play anyway.
  3. I had so much fun with my slimes I decided to do a few more translucent minis I had handy. These are the Grave Wraith and Nightspectre (somewhere else I have a Ghostly Summons 77095, Labella DeMornay 77096, and a spare Spirit 77098 that I will paint another time). I wanted to do these quickly, so it's ink mostly - the same ones as with the slimes, plus maybe a few darker phthalos. I've done a coat of glow in the dark medium for each (photographed), a coat of the not highest green, and picked out the skeletons in the nightspectre with a wash of medium and brown liner and base coated the grave wraith's sword and tombstone in a dark blue-grey. not photographed Eventually everything will get a drybrush of spectral glow (and maybe another, mixed with maggot white, in a few spots). For the nightspectre, I'm going to try and treat it as a fire and get darker going out. With the wraith, I'm going to go lighter out from the bottom centre. Plus highlights for both. The goal will be for them to be mostly translucent (and glow in the dark, because everything gets that medium). Hopefully I'll figure out how much direct light, and how much medium I need to be able to photograph this. Photos later today in subsequent posts.
  4. Starting with the last, and my first NNM sky and earth NNM. I know the shield line is the wrong angle, I should have gone way more horizontal, but I wanted pictures of how good it looks now. She may o on the shelf of shame, for all her beauty. I'd love some feed back on her BTW ... Second to last. this guy was a lot of fun, but not sure about the chest armor. Others - some better some worse: Ill update with group shots either all the bones, or possibly all the figures I finished this year (80ish?)
  5. I decided to start a WIP compilation like many other people here. I'll probably start a new thread whenever I'm doing a huge project involving many working parts (like Sleipnir,) but for just simple painting and basing I'll use this thread. After the big project that was Sleipnir, I decided to tackle something relatively simple and fun. Also, I want to screw around with translucents again. So I started doing the Night Spectre. I had based him litterally months ago, but I decided to add the headstone I cut off the grave wraith, so I did that. Incidentally, if I had any doubts about the durability of the Polyform Model Air, they're gone now. It was a huge pain in the butt to cutt off a bit of the basing I had already done to glue on the gravestone. I didn't take any pictures of this in progress. Sorry. I then "primed" the whole thing with Reaper Brush-on Sealer, as many people suggest with the translucents. The next thing I did was hit all of the skeletons, the gravestone, and the skull in front of it, with brown liner. I'm afraid I started the next step before I took my first picture - sorry about that. I picked up some Tamiya Clear paint last year. I took some clear Green, added a bit of water to it, and did a wash on the various parts of the Spectre around the skeletons. The details are definitely hard to pick out, I wanted to see if I missed anything. I will probably lighten the wash in color as I go further up the beast. As it turns out, I did miss a few spots. I went over them with the brown liner (I didn't photograph that seperately,) before I went onto the next stage. Incidentally, my goal with this guy is to have the face really stand out. I must say I looked at this guy many times before I noted the face, mouth, and hands. I want mine to be more visible and distinct. My current plan is for a certain level of opacity in those areas, but we'll see.
  6. I think I have two more batches to post, so just enough to last me until Friday. I love the translucent bones, great fun to paint and super fast. Finally got around to painting up the nightspectre and I don't think my Grave Wraith has made it on here yet either, so here they are.
  7. So I've been working for about two weeks on this guy, though I'll be the first to admit that I didn't have much time to actually sit down and paint. It is the translucent "Night Spectre," my goal was to have the face and claws stand out - they're very hard to see in the translucent mini if you don't already know they're there. I retained a lot of the translucency with Tamiya Clear Green and Clear Yellow
