  1. Hey gang! Thought I'd post the Eldritch Demon I painted recently. I decided to take a departure from the iconic green flesh mythos monster look and try a more orangey-jaundice flesh tone. Also used a yellow/orange mix to highlight the cool patterns covering the skin. Also, used the MSP Adamantium Black to give the base a neat volcanic/space rock look. I did keep the tentacles a traditional pink colour. Just seemed to fit with the whole new flesh, soft and squishy, feel (like a sea creature without its shell?)... Cheers! :) -E.E.
  2. The good citizens of Arkham need to be informed of important developments (for a modest price). Here to print all the news that's fit for the fragile sanity of mankind are the staff of the Advertiser. Editor Lorenzo and Flashbulb Casey, as well as the newsboy, are from Murch's News Hounds, in the Gangland Justice line. Bridget O'Rourke (sculpt II) is from Rattrap Miniatures. I love the dynamism of these sculpts! "Now listen here! Papers need to sell, and they don't sell anymore without we get the pictures! You come to me with cockamamie stories about metal men, I want PROOF! The public wants EVIDENCE! and while we're at it--" [assorted screaming and hollering] "--Hey, *dont* you interrupt me, this is important!" (Guest appearance by a repurposed Iron Giant promotional figurine.) I liked this gag so much I also set it up with 77113, Reaper Bones' Eldritch Demon (whom we all know is a Star-Spawn of the O.G. G.C.) Bridget is great at conveying the exact second where "plucky" switches over to "terrified."
  3. One Eldritch Demon. Based and primed, then left to languish for about two weeks, before I made up my mind to finish her* this weekend. Three hours Saturday, and seven today -- and I still have to seal it. This is an attempt to lighten my painting base colors -- it started as Olive Green -- and add shadow using inks and washes of flesh, purple and dark green. * 'Her', because somehow it took on a distinct feminine tone during painting -- perhaps the pink eyes?
  4. Here we are with the crazy WIP of how Slaying: Monday came to be. Be warned, this is very intensive and picture heavy. Show-off set up by CW here. First off, it's a bit of an inside joke between those of us who frequent the Randomness Thread(s). Chaoswolf (rping his wolf) and me (rping a coffee chugging barbarian) have set forth on an epic quest to slay the vile "Monday" who ruins their weekends. I set forth on my own quest to make the scene and used the White Dragon Tavern (as Flamehawke's establishment) complete with a wanted poster for Monday (who we don't have any idea what it actually looks like) and one of her kobold minions as a server. 1) Reaper SKU #03362: Kjell Bloodbear, Barbarian, sculpted by Matt Gubser with weapon swap to an Axe and skull mug (made from a creature skull) 2) Dark Sword Miniatures SKU #DSM5064, Greywind Dire Wolf, sculpted by Tom Meier. 3) Reaper Bones Kobold from SKU #77010 (had a spear and sword), I converted to holding a Hirst Arts mug and a platter/bread from Hirst Arts as well. 4) Reaper Bones Eldritch Demon’s Head only (sculpted by Jason Wiebe) SKU #77113 with some Reaper Creature Componets (SKU #’s 03440 and 03334).
  5. Summoned forth from unknown reaches, the power of this sleeping dark god is manifested only partially in this terrible monster and is barely contained in the simple vessel and the runes upon it's flesh. I strongly considered painting the 'bumps' on this miniature's hide as glowing dots but I felt like that would be a little over the top and would come off as too 'fishy' so I opted to just let the bumps be bumps. Besides, I felt like it would take away from the menacing eyes and from the other work I'd done on the piece. A few of the transitions are a little rough, but they're pretty minor and I'm eager to work on the next Bones v. Metal challenge, as well as some SciFi contest entries. Not enough time!!! C&C always welcome.
  6. So with trepidation I am starting a thread to track the likely painfully slow and experimental process of mashing up the Bones Eldritch Demon with a Games Workshop Chaos Space Marine Daemon Prince. Lots of Greenstuff will be involved. Probably blood and tears as well. I have the initial blush of an idea of what I want to accomplish but large sections are essentially going to be sketching with greenstuff. The plan is for this to end up as a Black Legion Daemon Prince that is Lovecraft Mythos meets 40K Chaos. I picked Black Legion for this because I already have Daemon Princes finished/in progress for all the 40K Chaos Gods and their Legions so I figured this would work as an unaligned Prince which fits best with Black Legion. And I think the paint scheme will be wicked. For this project we will be using: 1) Head and wings from the Bones 77113 Eldritch Demon. 2) The front of the 40K Chaos Marine Daemon Prince chest and it's arms. Not the back half as you can also build a fantasy version of the daemon with this kit and the back is shared between the two models and looks better with the fantasy version. Also, it is easier to put the Eldritch Demon wings more organically into the model this way. Or so I tell myself. 3) What is likely to be a ton of greenstuff since the back and the entire lower body plus any random detail I decide to add will need to be sculpted. Let's just say the lower half involves tentacles not legs. Side note for mods, I had a heck of a time deciding what forum this went in between CP&T, WIP, and Sculpting. If I picked wrong, feel free to move me. Here's some pics of the upper body in the 'slap some greenstuff on it and see if we like the shape' stage.
