  1. Some quick paints for the table. The pirate is a good demonstration of why I don't try sculpting - in addition he had a lot of casting problems in his legs and feet, so.... he will do but I kind of cringe. The shroud was a very quick paint - I cut the hands off, because it seemed more creepy that way
  2. Had bones versions of these two lying around, with Hajad being the last mini from the Layer up LTPK that's sat on my desk for a while now, and Kogo who I'd planned on using for my Furiously Fluffy Howling Hounds army, but wound up getting the metal version for that, and so he's sat around on my desk for a while. This hopefully will be a shorter than usual WIP thread from me, given that the main goal I'm pursuing with this is to try and work on a few techniques for speed while simultaneously getting used to two new brushes I picked up for a forthcoming attempt at a goblin challenge on DDS2.
  3. Finished the last mini from the LTP Layer up kit. I'm happy with how h turned out and learned a lot about where to place highlights. Now just have to transfer that to other minis. and here are all the mini's from the kit in order of painted. Best face still goes to Ingred, but Hajad has better skin, Anirion is probably the weakest paint job of the 3 but still looks good
  4. The third and final mini from the Layer Up! LTPK, Julie Guthrie’s Hajad the Pirate: Not gonna try for any better images, because then you would see how badly I messed up the eyes... Mostly by the book, but I skipped the lining as my little brush was becoming temperamental. Of the three minis in this kit, this is the one I was most looking forward to, as it has the most exposed skin of the three (one of my problem areas). Think I oversold the abs a bit too much though. Based on issues with the previous minis, I elected to basecoat both weapon blades with
  5. This little fella came out alright I think. My first successful attempt at painting human eyes at this scale.
  6. I bought the Learn to Paint Kit 2 some months back and I finally got to paint the 3 minis. I learned a lot from the techniques in the kit and overall I am happy with the results. Group Shot Anirion Ingrid Hajad C&C welcome!
  7. Tonight I started spending some time with Hajad (middle figure) from the Learn To Paint Kit: 2 Layer Up... not much to see yet. I think I'm gonna give him some facial hair though... Much work yet to be done. For those following along at home, I'm still doing the base coat layer.
  8. 77030: Danar, Male Assassin 77134: Hajad, Pirate 77132: Barnabus Frost Pirate Captain 77363: Deva 77056: Orc Sniper 77133: Gruff Grimecleaver, Dwarf Pirate
  9. Here is a quick tabletop paint of Hajad the bones pirate. This is one of the first times I have ever attempted to paint a different skin tone. I don't think it's too bad, but not as good as others I have seen on the forum. As always comments or suggestions welcome.
  10. I've been working on my set of bones I (and now bones II). First up are the PCs in my Pathfinder group. I painted them up for each player- the ninja in the back is from another manufacturer. 77076 is a new PC- that only lasted for 3 sessions before dying (again). The player has killed her PC 3x in dramatic ways. Next up I have a slew of Skull and Shackles villains: From the new bones, it's Mr. Bones II The rest are all works in progress. The cultists and hellknights: I still have the others (and one metal one) to paint up- I'm still trying to figure out what kind of them
  11. More pirates for 50 Fathoms, Barnabus Frost (77132) and Hajad (77134). Barnabus got the play the big bad pirate opponent, and Hajad was the unfortunate extra that bit the dust in my one shot I ran last weekend (see here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/56252-50-fathom-pirate-recruits-bathalian-77020-and-tiik-warriors-77186/)
  12. 77138 Candelabra and chest (Dungeon Dressing) 77062 Deenah 77171 Stone Golem 77134 Hajad Pirate 77070 Aviriel Tellerion (oh the hair issues) I have never used these in an RPG, but now that I have them painted Iwant to stick them in. at the least the gems will count as treasure. couldn't find clockwork brass (which everyone is always raving about) so used (reapers) antique brass. chest was painted earlier, but added gems, pearls and shadows. not sure I lit the gems the right way. Her hair, and inner shield took several revisions. as seen in my consolidated
  13. I quick-painted the five Bones pirates, and this is the fourth. I hated his little moustache, so I ignored it when I painted the figure.
