  1. Rebased one onto a dungeons & lasers base and will sell the other. Changed up the skin patterns of each while still utilizing the same colors so as to maximize paint use.
  2. Howdy, For my second day of International Mini Painting Month I present Flesh Golem Conversion(head swap)... Head came from 77327: Hell Cat, Kev!
  3. It's been a while, but got back the paint bug. Here is my take on the flesh golem. I was looking for the walking dead style but without the blood and gore (for the kids).
  4. Still pretty new to painting in general., and have no idea how to do decent photography (I'll find some time to build a light box some day, but for now, this is it). I originally intended for the majority of his flesh being a pale dead, with a purple hematoma in a few of the deeper spots. That plan obviously fell apart, but I'm still happy with how he turned out.
  5. I decided to participate in "The Ghoul, The Bad, and The Ugly -- Reaper BONES Horror Pageant Challenge" at the end of October. Spent about a week cleaning him up and he was a joy to paint. There are a few more things I wanted to do---but deadlines and no paint time Base was from Secret Weapon's Bag 'O Crap. I added a plaster bottle in the gutter with label and used Secret Weapon water in the gutter as well. The colors are outlined in my WIP. C&C Welcome. If you are interested this is where I started working on him in my WIP: http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/showthread.php?50056-KruleBear-s-WIP-WIP&p=753810&viewfull=1#post753810 http://www.coolminiornot.com/369428
  6. I found my little red fan, which means combined with the fact that it snowed today means that the upstairs is no longer a thermonuclear hellhole, and thus I can paint minis again, yay! Since I'm a bit shaky, I figured that I'd get a nice big couple of figures for a couple of board contests underway. So of the Halloween-themed contest, I've got the Flesh Golem and the Undertaker, and since I'm a bit shaky in the hands and have painted all of one human mini thus far, that narrows it down for me. And for the Year of Giants contest, well, why not paint the biggest figure I own at the moment, the Hydra. HAIL HYDRA! *reflexive salute* I also super glued together a couple of my minis that needed it since I had the glue out for the Hydra, and thus as a result if anyone needs any burglaries committed in the next few days, I'm currently lacking fingerprints. So I didn't get much done before my back started being achy, just get down a base layer of Ginger Cookie. Mostly because the Hydra *reflexive salute* took a good three hours and a quarter bottle of paint. Why Ginger Cookie? Because I have about six bottles of the stuff from Xmas. Mr. Five Heads gulped down a huge amount of the stuff, and was rather unhelpful with having tiny white specs appear in his scales every time I changed viewing angle on him. I'm not going to be slathering on a solid coat of paint onto a such a large and scaly beast any time soon. The dried glue on my hands also managed to get stuck to the dry paint, resulting in my removable of a few small chunks of paint. Not only do I have no fingerprints, the tips of my fingers now look like they're rotting off. I'm thinking of painting the flesh golem in ashen blue, with this being Minnesota, a hypothermic quasiundead just makes sense. For the ginger cookie addict? Not sure yet, Maybe keep with the Xmas goodness by splashing some Xmas Wreath over the ginger cookie. I think it'd be nice to have a Tiamat-hydra, but I'm not sure my limited experience will be up to the task of trying to blend five colors down into brown or try and make nice neat stripies down the back.
  7. I'm painting this for The Ghoul, The Bad and The Ugly. I primed with Brown Liner and then got to work on base coats. The skin is Pale Olive/Splintered Bone roughly 1:1. Pants stayed Brown Liner. I then made a wash of Pale Indigo and covered the flesh. After that I made a wash of Blood Red and painted all of the stitching. The pictures were taken just using light from the window so they are washed out. Hopefully I'll have some more pictures this weekend.
  8. Okay! So I thought that ordering 7 Bones would hold me off for awhile since I've just gotten started, right? Oh, but I was wrong. So very wrong. I started painting on Tuesday. They were all done Wednesday night. Now, I have still got a looooong way to go. No doubt about it. I'm going to try a different method of priming for my next batch, but I really enjoyed working with the color on these guys. Critiques are welcome and appreciated! As well as a Snake Demon (caution. Nudity.)
  9. EDITED to add new pics at the bottom of the post! Ulfrik "the Marred" stood upon the the glacier, his enemy lay hewn apart while he stood over the remains. He rested his foot upon the severed head and gazed out into the distance of the cold tundra. His mind spinning from exhaustion after his rage helped him kill the creature. The creature who seemed not to care about pain, who seemed impervious to it and kept coming at Ulfrik even after both of its arms had been cut from the body... Without further ado, after about 30 hours of work on the figures and the basing, here is my interpretation of the Barbarian Dude Redux. Figure(s): The Barbarian Dude: Redux / The Flesh Golem (Reaper SKU# 77169) Company: Raining Frogs Garage / Reaper Sculptor: Emaneule G / James Van Schaik Scale: 32mm / 54mm Material: Resin / Bones Plastic Limited Edition: 499 total figures cast WIP Thread Thank you for looking and comments are greatly appreciated! After comments in this thread, I went ahead and made some changes to the figure so above are the before and now the after! C&C are again welcomed and appreciated, thanks for looking again! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Here he is as I entered him into the contest on September 4, 2014 with many thanks to Thrym for putting together the awesome collage for me!
  10. After spending so long on some contest entries, I decided to whip up a quick monster type. Didn't realize he was supposed to be a flesh golem when I started painting; just that he was some sort of freaky undead. This one took two afternoons.
  11. I think that'll do for a couple months, hopefully I didn't bombard everyone too hard with my stuff over the last week or so. I tried to space it out. Anyway, here's the remaining mini's from my last photo session... The flesh golem was a super fun paint. Also, ugh for the mold lines. I must stink at seeing these on bones. Never notice one or two 'til I get them posted... Eyebeast was a pretty straight forward job. This lizardman I did not batch paint with his brethren, as it was my first lizardman I've painted and wanted to just focus on figuring out a palette. And I'd like to say last but not least, but really I didn't do too much with the Owlbear, just a quick clean paint job. Didn't even really bother to stuff his cracks with green stuff. Thanks everyone for looking (at everything this week)!
  12. Finally got around to sealing this guy last night so thought I'd post up a few pictures. This guy was my test subject, to test out the skin colours I want to use for my Stonehaven Trolls.
  13. July painting. Posted to avoid being overly mammalian The front looks just as good. comparison between base coating with yellow and working outward (5+ days) , and jut doing highlights (1 day) This guy appears to have a fish in a weapon holster. I name him Fish Knight! Other stuff: some reposted
  14. Like I mentioned I had a productive few days last week, and I had a few more after the earth elemental was all done- probably mostly due to the cheerleaders on here Since I was just done with the stone golems I figured I might as well finish all the golems while I was at it. So here they are, 2x Vampire golems all done. Removed the pants from the clay golems as I just find that stuff silly, other than that they're all stock. I know I've said I don't like having two identical models, but golems are an exception to that rule. Golems are pretty much made to, say, stand guard at each side of a doorway, and having two that are the exact same adds to that imo. I did all their eyes white with the same green fluo paint so they have a nice magic golem glow. I might add some dry/dead static grass on the bases, but I'm not sure yet. I kinda like them muddy and cohesive like they are now. On another note, I keep posting these show off threads with SKUs etc for every model I finish (and feel is good enough to be seen by others :P). I thought I read somewhere that that was the prefered way to go about it (due to ease of finding the model you want an example off etc), however now I see a lot of folks posting collected show off threads instead. Sooo if that's prefered I'll start one of those with my next submission instead.
  15. So, more Bones painted: Thundercats, ho! Too easy to make a joke... More terracotta than Georgia clay, but anyway: Born on Monday... Technically not all Bones: Technically not Fire Beetles:
