Just the one mini this week. I started him last week, went on vacation, and finished him today. I pretty pleased with the face on this one and most of the blending went well.

I'm running Phandelver for our 8 year old, finally pressing some of my Bones into service (Kickstarters I and II, I believe) Currently working on outfitting a band of bandits for the Redbrand encounters. Plenty of suitable minis in my collection. I really like a lot of these, but I don't like that practically everybody is dual wielding, and I don't like a few of the poses, so I decided to try my hand at converting Bones. First one I was itching to get into was 77093 Drago Voss. Cut his right hand at the wrist and his left arm at the elbow. Idea was to rotate them and run some sort of polearm through. Pin vise with drill bit through the hands after cutting. First one was off center; I'll have to fix that with the Xacto. Second one I was really happy with -- bit almost didn't fit, but I managed to get it just through with all the fingers intact. I had some plastic rod I bought from my FLGS once upon a time. Seems to be smaller than 1/16, but it fits snugly in the hole my 1/16 bit put into the bonesium. So now the big question is what kind of pokey or smashy bit I put on Mr. Voss's long stick. Original plan was for a bardiche kind of thing with the blade behind him, but mocking it up makes it seem more like he might prefer to drive a spear into somebody. Opinions?

I need to keep rolling the bones, so here are two paints from this weekend. I'm not sure if they are actually speedpaints, as I lingered over the NNM a little on the centaur. The rogue was less than 2 hours. the centaur less than 3. going for tabletop quality.

This is my entry to the 2017 Valentine's Day Painting Contest. I call it "The Ladykiller". It's a modified 77207: Dub Bullock, with a bouquet of flowers replacing his usual knife. It appears he's got his eye on some (un)lucky gal... This is my first modified figure, and it was a blast. I made the roses by glueing a 4mm x 20mm rectangle of putty to a jewelry wire at one end, then rolling it up, pinching it at the bottom. I shaped and spread the petals by poking at the coil of putty with a pin. I cut away the mini's knife and drilled a hole through his hand and pushed the bouquet through. The bouquet wrapper was a partly hardened sheet of putty that I wrapped around a shaped filler around the flowers. That partly hardened sheet of putty also produced the ribbon for the Valentine's Day chocolate box, which was just three sheets of putty left to harden, then cut to shape and glued together. My daughter says that I could take up the hobby of producing doll-sized food from Fimo clay, if I wanted. The Bones version of this model has a mold line down the center of the mini's face, and so the facial features are a bit garbled. I had to trim away flash and do a bit of reconstructive surgery on his nose and chin with superglue applied with the point of a pin. The paint job was a bit rushed, because I put off painting until the last minute, then came down with the flu on Wednesday. I pushed through the illness and painted these last three nights, and got it submitted to the contest with less than an hour to spare.

(reaper bones #77207) This is the second time I've done human flesh, and the first time I think I was remotely successful with it... I hope. Keep in mind that at this point the rest of the figure hasn't been touched (it's a serious work in progress), but before I continued, I wanted some advice from the community... Does the flesh look okay? Is there anything I could or should do to improve it?
