These guys had been sitting on my desk of unfinished minis for a long time, so in February I finished them up for the "finished, not perfect" section of the Jan/Feb RP Challenge. Total models for January/February 2019 ended up being 5, but that already is more than I typically get done in that span, so I'll call it a win. Thanks for looking! C&C welcome.

It has been a while since I have posted any of my work, and sadly that is because I haven't had much chance to do work. Nothing fancy, mostly just quick tabletop. Recently I managed to get a few bugbears and rats done up for a DnD 4th campaign I am running. The players have bitten off a bit more than they can chew, with a goblin army chasing them through the woods after they freed a dozen prisoners. Rogg is the charismatic (is that the right word for a bugbear?) warlord that the players will likely face if they stay to defend the village that will now have an angry horde of goblinoids coming their way. So I did up these gentlemen. I made up a story in my head about how they're a trio of brothers who jointly run the biggest, baddest band of bugbears in the land. They'd make decent-ish foils for some low-level adventurers I think. Nothing mind-blowing in hand but they'll look fine on the table, which is generally always my goal anyway. I tried to get some blood-spatter going on, but admittedly I've never really looked into how to go about it. I just drybrushed some red onto their weapons (and Mogg's shield, though you can't see it). It turned out well enough you can tell what it's meant to be I think, but I know there are some stellar examples of it out there. I'll have to look into that for next time.

When I first ordered the 4 identical figures I am pretty sure they were the only bugbear sculpts available. Somewhere along the line I decided to pick up the others as well. These will ensure I am not lacking bugbears in my D&D games for sure. Hi y'all! Real life has temporarily taken me out of the loop, and I haven't posted or checked in on this forum in a good long while. But I've at least been getting the occasional paint session in, and thought I'd put up a few of the things I've been working on. Here are the four Bones Bugbears, ready to put down the hurt on my D&D tabletop. I love these sculpts (by Tre Manor), and I think they are some of the minis that worked out really well in Bones (had to pin in a little metal rod in that spiked club though, as it was a bit too flexible). They were slightly too large for 25 mm bases, so I put them on Dragon Forge Design 32 mm Sanctuary bases (really love these for D&D dungeon critters). Anyway, I'm quite pleased with them, although they look quite rough when photographed. Hope you like em!

My collection of painted bugbears continues with Rugg their leader and a generic bugbear warrior who features a weapon swap from one of the Bones orcs. In addition, I have the Hobgoblin Sorcerer with the addition of a Web spell because frankly, the Web spell in 5e is amazing. His base was created as my first attempt using a base pad from the Basius 2 Kickstarter.

I'd done a Bones bugbear back just after I started painting again. At the time I tried to match him to a bugbear I'd painted years before for Chainmail. When I did him I used a lot of Partha paints. Those paints have since been passed to a friend since I'm using mostly Reaper now, with some Army Painter, P3 and Vallejo thrown in. So I decided to figure out some current colours that came close. They aren't the best pics, but I've been sick, so I'm happy I just got them finished by the end of the month. Over all they came out close enough to the originals as to look like normal variations to me. These guys are a little less orangy yellow, and there hair isn't quite as red. But I think they will do nicely. I did them all with the same colour kilt thingy as I've got two (or is it 3) more of each, so will do two more "squads" with different colours.

My August goal is to clean off my shelf of shame, or at least shrink it down some. The first mini of the month is Rugg, bugbear leader. He was started at the same time as the bugbear warriors I posted awhile back, but I ran out of steam after five bugbears and put him on the shelf. My rational was to save him as a test subject for the Scalecolor set I had in the mail and he did serve that purpose... eventually. Poor Rugg looks like he could have used another shot of dullcote before his photo shoot. The gloss is nowhere near as noticeable under ambient lighting though, so I doubt I bother with another coat just for gaming.

These guys were mostly painted at a local paint day. with CMPA. I discovered that only one had good eyes, so I took them home and redid all they eyes. One was weapon swapped with a gnoll so that both tribes have more weapon variety. The gnoll is currently wielding a toothpick spear and I haven't decided if I need to add greenstuff details or just paint. the studded leather armor was rough, and I think at least one needs some touch-up on this boot (after looking at photos)
