  1. Hi, Here is my take on the Reaper Chimera in Bones. Mine was pretty wonky and wasn't responding well to boiling water, but I still like the sculpt very much. I re-based the mini on a 50*50mm square in order to use it as a "Beast of Nature" for my "Kings Of War - Forces of Nature" army. Paint job is my standard army quality, but I had some fun on the base with some putty and water effects. I'm trying to get most of the bases in this army to be a bit scenic.
  2. I was looking through my 2016 pics of completed minis and came across this dynamic duo which I painted up this year as a pitch hit for the 2015 Fall exchange. I figured I would post them for fun. First is the 77257: Chimera and while waiting for paint top dry the on the Chimera I did 77259: Fly Demon They are bit glossy as the light was bright and the matt spray not quite dry I think.
  3. I just finished the Chimera from the second Bones kickstarter. Bones seem to work really well for relatively large creatures like this, though I had to fill some pretty big gaps. I liked the challenge of making the three heads look distinct, but still part of the same creature. I stuck to a fairly standard color scheme: relatively natural colors for the lion and the goat, and the red dragon fits well with that color scheme. But I made an effort to harmonize the colors together. And I made the eyes of all three heads the same (though it's a little hard to see), so they look like they are all part of the same creature. Enjoy! Comments and criticism are much appreciated. I like to get better. Do you have a lot of bones and no idea which one to paint next? Me too! Come join us at Caffeine Forge where every week we paint a different model, and then discuss everyone's different version. There are a few nice people who join in regularly, but the owners are lonely and are looking for new painters. You still have a couple of days if you want to paint your Chimera, but there will be a different model next week too. I enjoy painting as part of a group.
  4. Had a fun paint session with family on Saturday. My brother-in-law and his daughter have never painted a mini so I asked if they wanted to join in as my daughter and I painted something. They had a great time. Even the brother-in-law who got so into it and when anyone asked if he was having fun would just say "it is something to do". My daughter chose the Brass Bull: My niece chose the Chimera: And the brother-in-law was given the Sharkman: He already has plans on what he wants to do next weekend to finish it up. So we will need to get him set up at the table once we are back from Reaper HQ. A pic of the girls enjoying their paint session: I continued work on my metal Dire Bear when I was able to do so. Between helping out where I could and keeping the girls from trying to pour out their own paint I got a few swabs of the brush down.
