  1. I painted these Squogs, Turtles and Kar Drakir to fit in with my lizardmen/seraphon for Age of Sigmar. The squogs and turtles were painted early last year, a quick paint job to test out some colours for my lizardmen. Kar Drakir was painted to serve as a lizardmen hero. The squogs were slightly converted - Mudcroak received a Lizardmen style staff top and one of the squogs got a skink sword. The Squogs and Turtles were okay models - the weapons on the squogs were fairly thin and thus a bit floppy. Kar Drakir was amazing. I think models that's 35mm+ is where the bones material really starts to shine.
  2. The first two flew by, mudcroak was more annoying to paint. why does a frog have shells and starfish decorations. can frogs even live in the ocean? Wiki says - Fejervarya cancrivora come the closest. they live in mangrove swamps and don't just die if put in seawater. I guess I could have used them as a pattern. ah well. Anyway this just about covers my Bones2 goal for the month.
  3. Freshman year of high school, my friend Bob Evans (no lie) introduced me to the world of miniatures. I thought they were gorgeous and it looked like a supremely fun hobby, one I'd really enjoy... but I'd probably be no good at it. Besides, you've got to prime those things, and where was Mom gonna let me spraypaint? Fast forward two decades and I've finally started painting miniatures. (And I don't need to prime them! And there's brush-on primer now, too!) It seems silly, but the hobby is everything I've always wanted it to be: Meditative, rewarding, challenging, and a whole lot of fun. I dipped my toe in with the LTP kit and was hooked. Six weeks later and here we are! Without further ado, here are my first few fellas that I painted after burning through that kit and the Layer Up LTP kit. I'm surprised that there's not more love for these little guys on the forums or in the inspiration gallery! They do a good job straddling the line between adorable and vicious. These figures were my most challenging yet, with a lot of detail work. Each one took probably four to six hours to paint, and the teeth really gave me some trouble there. Meet Kermit and his thugs, Dig'em and Michigan J. I'm still a newbie to this hobby, so I'd gladly take any comments and criticism in the interest of honing my skills!
  4. I was inspired by the arrival of the Krackatoans from Dragon Bait, and decided to paint up a bunch of related sea folk. Almost all are from Bones, except the Spikeshells, who are the metal incarnation. A knot of Squogs: The Toad Demon: The Tiik Baron: The Sea Hag, with greenstuff-mended Squiddy (I thought he was a blob of miscast and then I saw a painted version...after I had sliced his head off...) The Spikeshells (in metal): Kelpies, (links for Barbie-like NSFW nudity) https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpl1/t31.0-8/12764326_10153308168255636_8677607774558033853_o.jpg https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpl1/t31.0-8/12764568_10153308168265636_5435427177767942254_o.jpg Mab Grindylow (again linked for nekkid) https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/12743713_10153308168850636_8999898210468005567_n.jpg?oh=420f356e9604c94aae39d16c69c6c1d6&oe=575AB32F https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/12745464_10153308168855636_98530089735032765_n.jpg?oh=c1939b3e26e25550c4587ab79ebdfbc7&oe=5766DC4A
  5. I had a really good time painting these. I had previously painted my Mudcroak as a poison dart frog. When I saw the squog warriors at one of my local stores, I was really excited except....the blister pack only had one squog. Got a deal on him so I only have one warrior. (I can always get more!) I decided to paint him as a tropical tree frog. A friend of mine at another game store had his box of Bones II and gave me his frogs to paint for him. I did his Mudcroak as a tree frog, one warrior as a dart frog, and the last as a corroboree frog. Here they are!
  6. These are frogman warriors from the new Bones II Kickstarter figures, sculpted by Jason Wiebe. Like the accompanying frog shaman, these critters are full of character and interesting detail. I painted them up like common meadow leopard frogs, the sort of spotted green ones I played with as a child, because they seemed a bit big and burly to be tropical tree frogs. The one with the spear and human-face-shield is 92681; the one with the fork and turtleshell shield is 92682. WIP thread here. Just as a side note: Does anyone know how to make it so the pictures in the post are nice and small but we can click on them and see a larger one?
  7. 77268 and 77269, Squogs and Mudcroak Mudcroak is going to be a blue dart frog, the Squogs are going to be tree frogs
