  1. I may end up doing a bunch of image dumps - I've painted a lot this year and maybe I should just post them in sets. This one, though, deserves its own post, I think. I painted up the Green Dragon Hatchling from waaaay back in Bones 2, showed it to my wife, and she made some suggestions - so here you have it painted up as a Swamp Dragon from the Discworld, as kept by Lady Sybil of Ankh-Morpork. I gave them a collar and name plate, and since they're a tame dragon, I gave them a few chew toys, including a Rolly Ball just like Rex of "Snake Discovery," as can be seen here: https://www.twitch.tv/snakediscovery Comments, criticisms, and suggestions welcome!
  2. The Dragon Hatchling sculpts are cute, but the Bones casts are terrible. Due to this I didn't try to clean them up well and just put them on new bases. Either way it is two more models off the bench and painted to an acceptable toy box level...and so what if I painted the geen one red and the black one green! btw I touched up the splotchy black base rims after I took this picture. Comments encouraged, Mike
  3. This is what I painted for Teskeria for the 2016 Secret Sophie exchange. She said she liked dragons and the colors purple and pink. I started with the green dragon hatchling, I wanted one that looked like it was attempting to fly, and this one seemed to be sitting up and paying attention. I built up a little cork hill for Cassie to be standing on, demonstrating with her staff and her arms thrust wide. The base has little hillocks covered in static grass. The bushes and flowers are real dried miniature plants that I pulled out of my dollhouse supplies. Both figures are removable for play. Hope you enjoy!
  4. Bones2 Hatchling Beauty Pageant June 2016 - August 31st 2016 1. Paint ONE of the FOUR dragon hatchlings: 77271: Dragon Hatchling Blue 77272: Dragon Hatchling Green 77273: Dragon Hatchling Black 77274: Dragon Hatchling Red 2. You don't have to paint them per the color description, paint them any color you like. The base should also be painted in some manner. The hatchlings came with the core set of Bones II so anyone who bought the core set from that should have them, or pick one up from your FLGS (Friendly Local Gaming Store) if you like! 3. Post your entry by midnight CST on August 31st, 2016. Only post photos in this thread, any questions/comments can be had in the discussion thread here. As many photos per figure as seems reasonable, please try to post per the forum rules on photo sizes. If you decide to paint all four hatchlings, please just pick one to enter here so it is simplified for voting, but you can link to your show-off post for your other ones if you like. 4. Check back September 1st or 2nd and we'll set up the voting. 5. Have fun! A beauty pageant is just to give you a chance to paint the same figure as a bunch of other like minded folks. Whether you are a true beginner or have been painting for years, whether you are a master, paint only for tabletop, or still have a lot to learn this is a great way to participate in a challenge and just have fun. Hope to see your beautiful entries, hit me up in the discussion thread for any questions! Thanks!
  5. I couldn't decide which of the Dragon Hatchlings to do up for the Beauty Pagent Challenge....so I did all four, but then put them all on the same base. Really good practice for doing a display base w/ still having a playable single. Hard for me to keep in focus, still practicing photo shots, need to learn more - as just leaving on Macro-Auto. Setting doesn't always give the best look. C&C welcomed.
  6. For the Reaper forum Beauty Pageant, my little black dragon: Yes, this is the color scheme I was inspired by. 77272: Dragon Hatchling Green Reaper Bones KS2 Bonesium PVC 30mm base
  7. I actually painted this one last year, I believe during the summer, but then for some reason I never finished her base. Finally got that sorted out, so here she is! My first dragon. (So weak... So very weak...)
  8. I gave up some of my dragon hatchlings to my kids so they could paint minis. They had a ton of fun with it, and were certainly very enthusiastic... The one on the left is my daughter's beautiful and very colourful dragon. She's 4. This is pretty much what I expected. The one on the right is my 9yo son's dragon. It's supposed to be a sort of darkish grey with spattered blood on its wings and head (my son's story is that the dragon rolls in the blood of its defeated enemies, which sounds gross to me but it's not my dragon) and the yellow spots on its head are supposed to be its eyes. I'm not sure what's up with the other colours. I honestly don't know if they're supposed to be there or not. At any rate - no award-winning paintjobs, but a lot of fun, so... yay! Both of them plan to do something more to their dragons at some point so I'm putting these in here instead of Show Off.
