finished the third of the series. One black, one white and one red. The black got a lot of help from a class at reapercon. don't shade with grey, use an off-black as a base color, and practice on eyes. I want to play checkers ! you did'nt even bring your sword!
I didn't get the full set of these, but pick 3 of them up at retail. so many questions. why is he wearing a castle? is he really big and far away? who is the little door in the base for? The chessboard trap/puzzle is seen in all versions of DnD, this guy belongs in it, or at least running it. but what if he gets tired of chess? Maybe he wants to play checkers. This is my second, and better try at red metallic. I learned you have to do thin layers, not mix the metallic medium with the red, for that makes pink armor. and his opponent the White Rook (painted earlier)
This is a model that I honestly wouldn't pick out to paint on my own. It's a bit too stylized for my taste but a friend asked me to paint it for them and it was rather fun. Table Top quality as usual, crappy photos because camera is still missing /sigh....... Oh one thing I learned, painting a bald head is NOT FUN. It was however a learning experience.
