  1. Here are two very different pieces that happened to come on the same week. Krug, Hill giant chieftain. I borrowed my friends version of this mini about six months ago to use in my campaign. I called him "King Krud" and the players had to negotiate with him for passage through his territory. They made it through just a few horses and some gold short. Negotiating with a hungry hill giant is not an easy task. The players and I liked "King Crud" so much that I had to buy my own and I will be making him a reoccuring monster. I tried a few new things with this guy. I have been working hard to create some depth and shape using shading. Even though I used true metallics to do the metal, I tried to add some dark and light to give it some depth and shape. I think you can see that on the left wrist manacle and the chain along the back. I also used lighter darks on the lighter top and darker darks in the darker areas that are shaded. Humblewood mouse musketeer (or some such). These figures have just been fun to paint and I can't wait to use them in the game.
  2. While I've been relatively inactive, my lovely wife has not. She's been working on a selection of figures some of which in my admittedly biased opinion are much better than anything I've ever done >.> 77265 - Drys, Dryad I love this figure and the paint job is so subtle. The shading on the greens is superb - unfortunately, I'll have to work out how to link the front again : ) EDIT - front of dryad: https://goo.gl/photos/1FRcQ5ZqZoqGt3dCA 77313 - Krug, Hill Giant Yet again, some gorgeous shading on this figure. 77314 - Golan, Hill Giant This figure is very... uh, purple. But I think it works well. I might have to go over it and tidy up some of the tree branch club - the paint coverage isn't as good as it could be. But still a lovely bit of work. 89013 - Ezren, Iconic Wizard She has this annoying tendancy to rattle off freehand that's better than my "paint by numbers" detail work, elf her eyes! This one was a fairly fast paint, with not as much shading as she's done elsewhere. 89014 - Seltyiel, Iconic Magus She refers to this one as her "Michael Jackson" figure, for obvious reasons : )
  3. I started on this last night. Flesh tones have never been my strongest skill. So far I'm happy with the way the face of the model is turning out. The veins on the arms... ugh. Im hoping to more or less complete Krug today. Ambishious project for me anyways. I'm thinking about making the hand wrap on the left hand bloodied? Suggestions? Any tips on fingernails? Usually I'd scmere on some off-white, but that might look a little cheesy. thanks Matt
  4. My first mini of the year! I had my eye on this one for a while and it did not disappoint. C&C welcome. Enjoy
  5. Recently got painted what may've been my favorite mini from Bones 2, the adaptation of Tre Manor's Krug, Hill Giant Chiefton. Great model, my first giant, and a fun one to paint, turned out. Just tried to keep it pretty simple, I guess. Tried for white wood with the club, in my ongoing quest to get wood right/not awful. Thought the goldish metal went well on it, too. I'm always silver. Wanted a wasteland-stones-something kind of something I don't know with the base. Thanks for looking!
  6. So this is the giant Krug. The third of my shirtless july trilogy. Murica, Ogre chieftain and finally this guy. It is may largest, and with a little more work one of my best. he recieved 5 painting days, including a CMPA meeting, where I got some good advice on skin glaze from Doug. He probably needs a day six for clean up. If I was planning on entering this guy in compilation what advice would you give for improvements?
  7. Took a lot longer than I expected, but here are my giants. I learned a heck of a lot painting these guys, and only hope that I can apply it to smaller models. My only real problem is that I don't think that I boiled the smaller giant enough. He leans forward a lot, which makes him both a real pain to photograph and makes him quite tippy. He can stay upright on level terrain, but if there are any bumps he falls over. I'l probably be practicing molding a heavy boulder to attach behind him in the near future.
