  1. Since Painting Dog finally received my very late mini, I can post up the pictures I took of it. In the exchange questionnaire Painting Dog stated that they liked dragons and sic-fi stuff, so I decided to do both, because what's the point of a present if it's not awesomesauce. A space dragon was just what I wanted, but I wanted one with a gun. Like, a really big gun. So I took a chain gun from a CAV and attached it to the side of my dragon, as well as sculpting some armour onto it. I sculpted the terrain to match what is already on the bones silver dragon, then decided that it would look awesome if it was all blue, because he's on an alien planet, right? The dragon was painted purple, first a very dark purple (carnival purple with shimmer black paint), then amethyst purple brushed over that to make it look gem-like. The wings were painted with black shimmer paint, with slightly less dark nightmare black mixed with more shimmery black. The stars on the bottom parts of the wing were made with a toothpick and a silver. The belly scales, fins, and claws are all shimmer black, highlighted with darkened silver. For the gun, I wanted the barrel to look like it had recently been fired a lot, so I tried to make it look like hot metal. And I also put a little wrist computer around dragon's arm, also using a toothpick to make the design. I left it with a shiny finish because I really didn't want the matte sealer to dull the shimmer paints. In hand it looks very bright and rich, without all the shine spots that are in the picture. Of course if Painting Dog wants to put a matte finish on it, they can, but I wanted them to see the shiny version so they have both options
  2. Ok, so I was in a whimsical mood. My friend rings for the Raleigh Ringers, a non-profit travelling handbell choir. They have a charity auction every year in the spring. I decided this year I'd try a theme as opposed to just doing a basic dragon. behold! I made bells! And music, but I'm more proud of the bells. I made two molds out of sculpey and stuck a thin layer of greenstuff on them. When they dried I sculpted the rim and then later stuck a wire through the top to make the handle and the clapper. The music stand is a piece of cardboard on a sprue. The music even has the "shakes" (special ringing notation) on it! I sort of rushed the music and gave up on making the lines perfect. I am ashamed. But, I did have a deadline... Anyway, the dragon is done with nightmare black and vallejo model air metallics. The bells are vallejo brass, highlighted with the silver. I put a hint of the brass reflected on mr musician to add some realism. Enjoy!
  3. When the dogs went crazy today, I knew it had to be my exchange mini since all of my mini orders have already been delivered. I was right! I had a package on the porch from the states. I couldn't stop smiling as I brought it in to open it. It was like Christmas! What would be in the box? In the box was a note on top of two bubblewrapped bundles. I couldn't see anything through the bubblewrap! The note told me who my exchange partner was - terminalmancer. It also told me that the figures are 77329 Silver Dragon which he explained he painted gold because "just because"! The second figure is Dark Sword's Wood Elf Goddess (Avatar Form) which he decided to have a go at sheer cloth. They turned out gorgeous! I am going to use them in my game. I think the two of them together could wreak some havoc! Thanks again, terminalmancer! I love them!
  4. So this is going to be COLORFUL It's based on a dragon character of mine. Here's a poem about him: So needless to say, you could also call him a rainbow dragon probably. Going to do my best to make him look gem like. Any tips would be appreciated!
  5. seven days of painting including a Paint club meeting. The figure was taken from the good will box, and heavily warped. Boil/Ice helped mostly straighten the base, but the lean was only fixed when I cut the dragons front foot and propped it up on small stones. This unnamed white dragon will be perfect to throw at mid-level adventures. Not too big, but still dangerous.
  6. Received Dragon from goodwill box, This means I have enough to have do another copy of this model as a brass... This one will be White, cause its one of my few large (not huge) dragons and this sze is perfect for fighting mid-lvl adventures. Started with a sky blue heavily thinned with something other than water. then hand painted the large scales white, and dry brushed the small ones. Added a coat of thinned dragon blue to the belly, and 2 layers of whiye glaze to the belly scales. It wasn't as thin as I wanted, and mya have done some watery clumping. sigh planning on an over all white glaze, and frosting the wings.
