Hey, been a while since I've taken any pics. Mostly because I hate my camera on my phone. Should resolve that in December, but here's what I can do picture-wise for now with my latest addition to my Undead Kings of War army. Includes several Bones zombies. Due to the depth of field on my camera being awful, I've taken a couple pictures of each base, you'll notice the front ranks in one is blurry and the bank ranks in the other is; sorry, that's just a limitation of my phone. I have to back way off and get a low res picture if I want everything in focus with this. Zombie Legion: Zombie Regiment:

These guys have quite a bit of personality in their sculpts and I tried to bring that out while experimenting with different flesh tones. First up is Bob. He was once a predatory used car salesman of the "buy here, pay here" variety until a nip from a disgruntled customer caused him to go feral. Next is Betty, who was spending a lazy day hanging laundry on the line when a hungry neighbor unexpectedly launched himself over the fence and gnawed on her a bit. Next is Slabby, possibly patient zero, who has escaped from his drawer in the local morgue to cause a bit of mayhem. Next is Moose, who was a member in good standing of the Tunnel Snakes until he forgot to lock the door to his shelter before passing out in a drunken stupor. And finally there is Steve, who is in the unenviable position of having to wear his work uniform throughout an eternity of undeath.

Finished ancient zombie #1...as I was playing with the skin tone I decided to go very dark...I don't want all caucasian zombies in the diorama so I might as well start practicing other skin tones...he's just OK I guess...there are things I like about how he turned out and things I don't like...still learning on miniatures...

My fourth miniature...I went for a very muted color scheme on this guy..he came in a 5 pack of similar zombies that resemble the tar-man zombies from "Return Of The Living Dead" so I'm really trying to reign it in with the color...he's still not done...I MIGHT brighten him up just the slightest touch with a bit more dry brushing...and I'm going to add a bit of glossy gore to him...28mm...from Reaper Miniatures

I speed painted these zombies probably a month ago, I just haven't been in the mood to take pictures or hobby since I finished 'em. Well, I had a pretty good day yesterday, and I think my mojo might be back, so you get some pictures. I think I spent about 7 hours on them as a group, and they're painted to a tabletop level. Hi again. I just finished my third mini in about a month, pretty good after a more than two year hiatus I think! So this is one of the zombies from the set of several different poses. I started this one thinking he would be just a quick throw-together job to say I finished another mini and to get him off my shelf but after a little work I was starting to like him. I was thinking his flesh tones were looking a little too healthy for a zombie and not as pale as I intended so in order to lighten him up and make him more ... dead... I started to learn how to glaze! That's awesome because I need that to continue working on a dragon I've had on hold for too long. There's a little glazing on his clothes too for highlights but they don't show in the picture very well so maybe I didn't take them far enough so I'll be working on that, plus there wasn't much surface area on the clothes so that made it difficult to take it to a higher level. So I call this a success because I started to learn a new technique and he turned out to be far more than I expected at the start. He could still be more pale, but I'm calling him "freshly dead" and moving on! Just a quick question while I have your attention, did I do the static grass right? Is it standing up enough? I never really know if I'm doing it right.

In an odd coincidence that I swear I had nothing to do with, the passing of George Romero coincides with my finally completing a set of 77342, Zombies, from the second Bones Kickstarter. I thought it might be nice if people painted (and shared) zombies, to honor the life of a man who changed horror movies forever.

Just a bunch of run-of-the-mill undead. Anyone got any brainzzz? Oh, and I couldn't resist doing this:

And you can always use more zombies on the table. These came from KS2. They painted up pretty quick, base coat and a wash and they were done.

For the next game of Frostgrave, we're adding a fun element where a treasure marker may instead be a zombie, so clearly, we all need to bring a casualty/treasure marker of some sort. A dead body clutching a treasure chest sounded just about perfect, so I went through my bits, and pulled a tiny treasure chest from GW's Brettonian infantry. For the body, I looked at a whole bunch of options, but settled on using one of the zombies from Bones II. It's the hunched over one on the far left. I chopped off his base, added some cork and the chest, and decided that was good enough. I used grey liner to prime it. Blocked in the base colors. Had a bit of a spill with the red, most of which ended up on a demon. But that's for another post. Then I sloshed the body with flesh wash, and detailed the chest with bronze. (not shown). The pics don't show it well, but I used wood glue when I initially applied the snow. This isn't ever a problem when I'm doing grass, but the yellow of the glue tinted the snow. And while there are times yellow snow is appropriate, this isn't really one of them. So I'm trying a variety of things to fix it. We'll see how my experiments look when I get back to my desk. One thing I can say is that just painting it didn't work.
