  1. Finally I can reveal my entry for the 2. Quarterly Reaper Miniatures painting contest. I am very pleased with the results and even placed fourth. The competition was strong as per usual and very impressive freehands as well as glow effects made the top three stand out. Rhianna is based on Reaper Miniatures Avatar of Resilience. I changed quite a bit about the miniature to fit the urban fantasy theme: New weapons, including a scratch-build pump gun, pants, leather straps across the chest and more. I had lots of fun converting this mini and painting her was also a good, if challenging experience. Pink is not usually a colour I choose, but here it really works. I used Kimera Colours Magenta with a bit of The White as a base colour. That was crazy vibrant, so I desaturated it with some grey. For the shadows I mixed some Purple into the Magenta which really helped to make it pop. Finally, highlights were applied using a baby pink. I had trouble getting the right look for the Juicy logo, but ended up using metallics for it. Micro dots failed and had to be painted over again. The small labels and garbage were also a first. The labels are all freehands and distressed afterwards. The cigarettes are small styrene strips and the Pepsi can made from some aluminium foil. So a few questions to spark discussion: How do you go about sequin, glitter or fake 'crystals' on miniatures? What is your favourite recipe for pink?
  2. This is my Duo entry with @Humansquish for this months Reaper Challenge League. I couldn't think of a colour scheme at all, then I remembered that a friend has a T-shirt with the statement " Rhinos are just Chubby Unicorns". I humbly present my interpretation of such a beast As always, comments and criticisms are more than welcome.
  3. This guy has some serious Druidcraft. His mace/warhammer was clearly grown to serve as a weapon. No idea where he got the loincloth, perhaps that is why there is no Hyena Avatar. the thing on his back is clearly supposed to be a NMM sword (not my finest shiny) - but what if it was huge jug of liquid instead? Its not like he needs a backup weapon. I actually have a second copy of this figure, although I can't say why, he is only my third fav of this series (behind Hippo & Ape) while im thinking of it, the next loincloth should be identifiable Lion or Leopard perhaps. and the second copy should also be weapon swapped out to a staff.
  4. Hello all! I've just finished painting "Stormwing" from my Bones 3 collection - Yay!! My painting process of this mini can be found here in my ongoing Dragon/large monster WIP thread. Please feel free to comment & critique: Thanks for looking !
  5. Elephant is modified. I thought a six pack and human feet on the elephant was silly
  6. I modified the elephant, sculpted him a new belly and feet because I thought a six pack and human feet looked silly on him. All the other Avatars have proper animal feet and normal animal bellies, so i wanted him to match.
