What I really love about this model is its modularity--inside and out, top and bottom, there's detail for a splendid backdrop almost everywhere. I've used the base as a stone floor in other vignettes, but finally got around to punching up the ritual circle and the interior detail. Fun with gradients! First, the circle itself! So versatile! Seen here with some Nolzur's scenery and Reaper cultists. Next, the outside: But what lies inside? (I love the spooky interior, by the way--reminds me of the sculpted paneling in the 1999 movie The Haunting.) Could it be used for licit magic? Brother Louis and Brother Roberto are certainly willing to give it the old invisible-college try!

There are those that say that the monks at St. Fiacre's should not plant their vegetables so close to the churchyard, that it is unseemly to fatten the marrows, squashes, and pumpkins so close to human bones filled with human marrow. Of course, the same voices don't complain when those same vegetables come to market, ripe and full of rich flavor. But that is another tale, and... ...wait, what is this? Who comes here at this hour? A ruffian in disguise, bent on disturbing the bones in the cemetary?! Nay, ruffians plural! Grave robbers, here to trouble those at long rest under stone! And who is this?! A sinister figure, clearly the ringleader. "Go now, and find me that wizard's grave!" A little foxfire around the eyes and mouth of a carved pumpkin will frighten the superstitious into thinking these grave-robbers are haints. "Not one stone in ten is as it was in the old times; be sure where ye dig!" "Wait, lads--what is that light?!" "That's no sexton's lamp! Take to your heels, boys!" It is, perhaps, only fair that those who mock Jack O'The Lantern get to see the original. A variant of Jack In the Green, easily summoned. "BOOOOO!" "YOU WHO TRESPASS ON THE ROW / YOUR FLESH WILL MAKE THE PUMPKINS GROW" "'Tis every man for himself, lads, and devil take the hindmost!" "TAKE THE HINDMOST? SO BE IT!" "AH HA HA HA HAAAAA!" As I said, the pumpkins from St. Fiacre's are always welcome at market. Something about the tender flesh and delicate taste, the kind you don't find elsewhere. Rumors that a wealthy patron of the monastery was a sorcerer are just that--old wives' tales. And the story of a guardian appointed to keep his rest secure 'till doomsday? Obviously also fictitious. Old wives will talk; this is well-known.

I did this one a while ago. My first attempt to recreate the painted version on the packaging. I'm just missing the foliage. This was super fun! :D

When I got my Bones III Obsidian Crypt I had a little idea. https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/crypt/latest/77637 I put Kaladrax ( now Discontinued) on it. She made it her throne! I also included some pieces of the Bones III Graveyard Set, and a few other pieces I had laying around. One statue is broken because Kaladrax swung her tail when she landed. I made some roses with the basing stuff @knarthex had send me a while ago. Also my first real attempt at marble. I made red marble and white/yellow marble for the Crypt. Back over the July 4th holiday, I started working on my Graveyard set. Cleaned the moldlines, glued the fence posts to the fences, and got ready to spray paint them. Then, my black spray paint broke. The nozzle just snapped right off. So I used white. And, because the day was too humid, it got powdery. Not a great start to the project, but I pushed on. Some black wash, and lots of grey, I made progress.

I finished up the Obsidian Crypt from Bones 3's Graveyard expansion. Used a fair amount of spray paint on this one, as I found that it didn't interact as badly with the harder Bonesium than it does with the regular stuff. I also used a bit of blue painter's tape to keep various areas protected, and wound up making use of a marbling spray to get the effect I wanted, and I'm pretty happy with it. It worked best on the floor rather than the walls, but I'm satisfied with it overall. I haven't glued any of the walls together, because it makes it easier to use as terrain or display. I also mounted some magnets in the floor, and glued some nails into the open areas in the walls so that the whole thing stays together better. It was my first real attempt at using magnets in miniatures, and I'm pretty excited about it.
