The girl next door requested a dragon for her birthday, after she saw me give one to somebody else. I really hate giving away miniatures, because I feel my painting is not good enough for displaying to random people. But.. What can you do? :P Soo.. I figured I'd give it a go. Been working on these two on and off since yesterday evening: Based one black, the other white: The Valkyrie stood very low, so I sculpted a stand for her with a cork and some Fimo: Didn't fit perfectly with the ridges, but I think I can get away with it as a whole: And this is just about how it stands at the moment: I'd happily take some advice on base clutter. Something to make it more interesting.. I figured I'd just add some stones?

My take on Bones Aina, Painted last year. I tried a freehand on the shield supposed to look like a seaserpent thingy. EDIT : took some better pics.

A little background first. Back at the beginning of June I was approached by an employee of my FLGS with a "Hey I hear you paint miniatures, want to enter our contest?" Well at first I was not going to as the deadline was less then two weeks away, I had other ones I needed to work on, and as your entry fee, you needed to buy a miniature from the store (problem since I have too many as it is). But I wanted to support the store so I made a list of Bones that I want to paint and out of the about ten that I choose, this was the only one they had. Well I got it done on time and was the first to turn in. The deadline got extended twice to try to get more entries but we only ended up with three and we got the results yesterday. I won! So here is Aina the Female Valkyrie. I wanted to work on pushing my shadows and highlights and her skirt was perfect for this but I still could have gone darker with the shadows. I also needed to try out the RMSP Red Hair triad and I am happy with the results. I had a little accident when cleaning up the sword and ended up needing to use brown stuff to rebuild it and was semi successful. The base is a block of wood from Michaels with one corner burned off and rocks made of Super Sculpey. Any input would be appreciated.

After dragons and some orcs & goblins, I tried my hand at Aina. Painting the face was quite difficult (especially the eyes) but I do notice that practice makes better. I do wish I had a better detail brush (and maybe a more steady hand)...
