I got this mini in the Mini Painting 101 class at ReaperCon. This was our first ReaperCon - my wife and I took the class together. I’d painted about a dozen minis (badly) for D&D before going to RC. I like this sculpt, and I wanted to work on improving my basic painting skills. I decided to keep working on her to see how far I can go. I’ve spent an embarrassingly large amount of time on her already. I do feel like I’m learning a lot though and getting better at controlling my brush and getting paint consistency right. I broke out one of the good brushes I had bought and not touched - a da Vinci Maestro. I still feel unworthy to use it but maybe it will help me get better. I’ve done a lot of work on the red armor already, but still need to do some more highlighting. I think I might have overdone the highlights on the green ropes in some places. I was planning to glaze them down and redo a bit smaller. Thanks for taking a look. I would greatly appreciate any feedback or tips on what I can improve on the parts I’ve worked on already. Here she is so far - she looks a lot better if you squint.

I was asked to paint Amiri (89005) in a classic wonder woman inspired paint theme, and I matched Virina (03084) to some concept art that was drawn by a player. both characters are being used for a marvel super hero game and come from foreign planets. For Amiri I removed her sword and pinned the ne staff threw the hand grip that was left over from the sword. As for Virina sense I knew I was going to have to free hand he cloths onto a nude figurine I started by sanding down her nipples and coating the part of the model where her top would be in Taniya White. I've noticed this paint tends to dry hard and smooth and would look more like the leather top and pants that are described the players, character description. I hope you like what you've seen I post here a fair amount but I post to my FB page more if you would like to check out my work there it would be appreciated

Decided to start playing with the Vampire box Chaoswolf won for me at the auction, and pulled out this fine lady. Mostly just messing around at this point, my blending is terrible and her face is almost embarrassing... But oh well, she's for fun and practice. Definitely have to bring up the highlights a lot more on her armour, she's even darker in person than in the picture once the big bright light is turned off.

I decided to try a paint job inspired by the official Pathfinder art. What I thought would be a simple thing turned into a weeks-long affair... Went with a snowy base since her story is that she comes from a northern tribe where gender roles were strictly enforced. To prove her worth as a warrior she defeated a frost giant jarl, whose sword she still wields. 89005 Amiri:

After I did the Ezren, Iconic Wizard from Pathfinder, I decided to do the Amiri (in my "I will paint one mini of each sculptor" list of what is next...). So, I opened my Pathfinder Book and started it. Information: 89005: Amiri, Iconic Barbarian by Derek Schubert in BONES. Paints so far: - Skin. Vallejo Model Color 70.815 - Basic Skintone Vallejo Model Color 70.860 - Medium Skintone Vallejo Game Color 72.099 - Cadmiun Skin - Hair. Vallejo Model Color 70.846 - Mahogany Brown Reaper´s Master Series 09137 - Blackened Brown - Cloth Vallejo Model Color 70.846 - Mahogany Brown Reaper´s Master Series 09137 - Blackened Brown (to get the Turquoise color) Vallejo Model Color 70.844 - Deep Sky Blue Vallejo Model Color 70.838 - Emerald Holy paint mess Batlips! Now that I Zoomed the face photo I see the "ecce hommo" job I did on it. Hopefully some small work and glaze make it better... I am very messy in my paintings, I go forth and back some times to correct slops and mishaps and ups strokes.. Stay tuned to next episode...
