For my first ever WIP I thought I'd go for something simple. Reaper's animal companion pack of goat, pig, and cow. Got these half price at my FLGS a little while back. They must have sat in their package a long while before I rescued them. The cow's tail seems especially fragile and the goat' integrated base was quite warped. i decided to base the cow on a large 2" base but the pig and goat would not fit nicely on a 1" base so I used two bones integrated bases that I had removed the figures from a while ago. Here they are primed and glued to their bases: Next I had to fill the gaps in their bases a bit so I mixed some tacky glue, brown craft paint, and a dash from my jar of leftover mixed sand and flock. This got spread around to simulate mud/dirt. It was a thinner mixture than I've used before so I'm worried it won't stay as it dries. I still managed to put a base coat of Elf Flesh on the pig as well as a mix of the same elf flesh with my brown craft paint to get the cow started. Here is where they stand so far tonight. (Sorry for the poor picture but I was not about to move these while so wet to my photo area!) Part of the point of this WIP is to showcase my mistakes and corrections so that others can learn from them, but please feel free to give critiques and suggestions as well, for I have much to learn. Now to search out some inspiration pictures (was I supposed to do that first?)

I whipped up a couple of really quick TableTop figures to represent my new Ranger PC (Leif) and his Wolf Companion (Daelas or Shadow Leaf in Elvish). Took me about 5 hours total for both figures and their bases. Bases are stamped with the new Happy Seppuku grasslands stamps and then I used some grass tufts to add more texture. Figures: The Ranger is from DGS Games - SKU: 101008 Forester of Falkaar, Material: Pewter The Wolf is the "Hunting Wolf" from Dark Sword Miniatures SKU: DSM7410, Sculptor: Jeff Grace, Material: Pewter I've painted up a few of my DGS figures so far that I got at ReaperCon last year and from one of their recent kickstarters, am really liking the line, very nicely cast, few mold lines and great details to work with! Of course, I'm also a huge fan of DSM and have also painted up quite a few of their figures.

Just two dogs that I finished up this weekend. One of which I finished up months ago at a paint n take but just now decided to finish basing and the other from the Iron Wind by the ounce bins at Gencon (does anyone know his id number? I can't find him on IWM website.) Found This was my first attempt at using static grass. I'm fairly pleased. This is the one from Iron Wind and I don't know it's ID number. If anyone does that would be appreciated. It's the war dog from the historicals line No fancy basing for this one. I decided I liked how it looked plain. I had to redo some of his markings after I put the sealer on because some brown got into the sealer so Iost some of the contrast. Unfortunately I didn't remember what color I used to get the markings in the first place. This color stands out better but the old one looked more natural. The two of them together. Comments and criticisms appreciated.
