  1. While watching Ks Bones V, I was painting in front of my PC. Here, the second one I painted. Wizard/Druidesque palette, first time I try painting freckles O_o
  2. This week I painted up the Mystic Theurge figure from the Bones 2 Pathfinder Heroes Set. My plan is to use him as a Soothsayer type wizard's apprentice for Frostgrave. Full painting step-by-step on my blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2016/07/mystic-theurge-bones-ii-figure.html
  3. So I put the Secret Weapon Crushed Glass Snow effects on their bases, and here they are, Ejrvindr the Far Seeing and his apprentice, Dagrun Arnholdt'sdottir... Thanks for looking! Comments and Critiques Welcome! George WiP found Here
  4. I'm starting to work on a Sigilist warband for Frostgrave, and I needed to come up with a wizard and apprentice figures. For those unfamiliar with Frostgrave, Sigilists are a wizard type that are experts in magic dealing with words, writing, and languages. So I definitely wanted figures who had some visual connection to that aspect of the wizard type. Also, since Frostgrave is set in a frozen city, I wanted figures that were dressed in warmer clothes. For the Wizard, I first looked at the Olivia, Female Cleric, figure that I had got in the Bones II Kickstarter; and while perfectly dressed, she really didn't look predominantly "word-y" enough for me. Then, I saw a spare Leisynn, Mercenary Mage, figure I had, holding his big book, and a thought struck; perhaps I could cut off his book and forearm, and attach it to Olivia. So, I did that, and it looked great. It amazed me how well the book fit up against her, and the tilt of her head made it look exactly as if she was reading from the book. I then considered what to do with her other hand. I didn't know what I could put in it, or whether i should leave the jar; but I thought, why would she be holding a jar? Then it hit me how similar the jar looked to an ink bottle. All I needed was a feather to be a quill, and it would work. So I rummaged around in my spare plastic sprues, and found one that had some English Civil War figures. Luckily there's was a little pair of feathers for attaching to a hat as a plume; they would be perfect. I slice the stopper off the bottle, and drilled a tiny hole in the bottle's top. Then I pre-sprayed the feather bit with some flat white primer; and when dry I superglued it into the bottle. I am really pleased with the end result: Next, I worked on the Apprentice figure. I selected a figure of Jolie, Female Scribe, that I had got last year from the Box of Goodwill. She was perfect as is with her big book, but she looked a little lightly dressed for the frozen city of Frostrgrave. So, I thought I would do a quick fix for that and simply add an old GW cape I had in my bits box to the figure. Luckily, it fit perfectly on her shoulders. It sticks out a little in the back, but I don't think it looks too bad I'm really happy with how the pair turned out. They're in the painting queue now, so if all goes well look for the Show Off three in a few weeks. :)
  5. Last week, I posted photos to "Show Off" of the Anhurian Spearman that I had recently completed painting for use with the game Frostgrave (http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/67363-yet-another-anhurian-spearman-77359-bones/ ); and forumite Pippin put in a request for me to please post photos of one of my completed Warbands for Frostgrave. I had been playing the game so far with a mix of figures specifically painted up for Frostgrave with snow bases, and existing figures in my collection that were on regular grassed bases. I had been busily painting figures for Frostgrave, but had been working on several warbands in parallel, and hadn't actually completed a full one. Since our group had started its Frostgrave campaign last month, I had been making a concentrated effort to finish my main Illusionist warband that I am using for the campaign, and completed the final figure this past weekend. I sat down today and took some shots of the complete group. (Note: Before the sharp-eyed Forstgrave players on the forum cry foul at there being 11 figures, after the first campaign game my group settled in an old inn, allowing them to add an extra figure to the warband) "What strange magic is this?", said the wizard Kodak, as the man set up the odd optical device before the group. "It is a machine for the making of a permanent image," said the man. "Like a painting, but with more realism and much quicker." "I'd like to see such magic!" said the curious Illusionist. Left to right: My Illusionist, Kodak (Reaper); his apprentice, Cherowyn (Reaper); the templar, Sister Elessa (Reaper); The treasure hunter, Jack (Reaper); archer, Edel (Reaper); and archer, Weiss (Reaper) Left to Right: The thief, Cadwalleter (Games Workshop); the thief, Agamemnon, (Games Workshop &; Wargames Factory); the thief, Linnese (Games Workshop); the thug, Bash (Games Workshop &; Wargames Factory) and the thug, Doc. (Games Workshop &; Wargames Factory)
  6. Figure: Karick-Dar, Apprentice / Zargun, Assassin (body/arm) Sculptor: Sebastian Archer Manufacturer: Guild of Harmony Scale: 30mm Material: White Metal WIP Thread if you are interested For my purposes, this is Sansulves the Bladebound/Kensai Magus who I painted up for one of the guys who I play Pathfinder with. Sansulves is a CN Tiefling and I was asked to paint him up in black/red with pale skin and red eyes. I have to say I really struggled with the face on him, the shadows and the pale color were hard for me to get to where I was actually happy enough with them. Without further ado, I present my finished project. Comments and Critiques are welcomed, thank you for looking!
  7. So, I painted this guy up and gave him to a party member for her birthday. I'm not entirely sure what she's going to do with him, but I had painted him up, and have now decided everyone gets a painted mini for their birthday... whether they want it or not! :D So, without further ado, something I've painted! C&C welcome/requested. -Dave
