  1. I should be working on my more time sensitive projects, but I can't resist the siren call of starting another Kingdom Death mini, the Rogue:- At the moment he's merely been cleaned, assembled and primed. Tomorrow comes the fun of deciding what colours to assign to his many layers of clothing. I've made a start to his base too:- That fern on the side looks way too much like an ear.

    77037: Medusa

This model really lends itself well to the Bones Material because the whole thing has a heck of a lot of texture, especially the abs and the tail. Great fun to paint, and real easy. Link (Because of the Nudity) http://i.imgur.com/P67STlX.jpg

    Sculpting Tutorial - Archer

Just ran across this Sculpting Tutorial and thought I'd share as I've seen quite a few people asking how to sculpt things. This particular one is for sculpting an archer.
  4. Hello all! It's been a while since I'd been working on my Exchange Mini and didn't get to post a WIP. I think I was going into withdrawals but I'm about to rectify that, hopefully not to the point of boring everyone to death. Here's the next WIP! Bow Sister #14321, whom I'm painting up for a very good friend who love to play Munchkin with us. She always gives me grief because I demand to start as an Orc, as I tend to use Varaug all the time. At any rate, this is for her! All washed and mounted in Miniature Holder. I love using these things, if for no other reason than they keep the mini from falling over... EVER! I had fits when just using corks. These prevent needless touch-ups. All primed... Not the most exciting thing, but I love the look of a newly primed figure. NOT shown here are her quiver and her sword & dagger combo. This will be the first time I go for an African skin tone. I'm using the Reaper Dark Skin Triad, so we'll see how it turns out. Luckily, there's not a lot of skin on this one, so I won't necessarily have to pull out all of the stops! Skin tones intimidate me for some reason, but it'll be nice to not have to try to pull off "fair" skin this go-round. Blacklining isn't my specialty. It always comes out looking like a 4yr. old did it. I don't think I tried blacklining last time, but I'm planning on going with a golden-bronzish look with the armor and figured I'd try blacklining again. I'll most likely just go back over this with Intense Brown in preparation for the metallics I'll be using. I actually managed to get these eyes on the first try, which is saying a lot! I think they came out pretty good, so I'm not going to fiddle with them anymore. The right one looks kind of funny in this pic, but it looks good when viewed from a normal level and at normal scale. Of course, I realized after seeing this pic that there's no real outline on the eyes, but I'm curious as to whether I'll need it on such dark skin. Hmmmm.... At any rate, that's all for tonight! I'm sure I'll post more of this Nubian Princess as I work on her. I still haven't really figured out a basing scheme or even the cloth colors... Possibly some red/black/white combos to go with the bronzy-gold armor... We'll have to see! -K P.S.: I've been looking at tutorials on how to string bows. Any suggestions as to how any of you have done them in the past? Sewing thread or wire? Stretched plastic sprue? Feel free to leave comments, questions, explanations! Thanks for viewing! P.P.S.: Just a tip for those of us who are still newer to the hobby... ALWAYS keep a bottle of nail polish remover close at hand. While mounting her pins, I managed to superglue her to my fingers not once, not twice, but THREE times in a row! I'm not sure how it happened as it normally does not, but like jury duty, your number just comes up sometimes. Luckily, I had said bottle of nail polish remover close at hand and was able to spare my poor fingertips!
  5. A video detailing the epic adventures of our hero to fix the internets, as voiced by Sterling Archer (aka, H. Jon Benjamin). http://kotaku.com/an-epic-adventure-to-fix-the-internet-voiced-by-sterli-1542241747/+jschreier

    Male kitsune minis?

I'm looking for a male kitsune miniature, preferable an archer, and am failing to find any. Does anyone know where to find one? If I couldn't find one I was considering just piecing together two different minis and was wondering if anyone had any advice on that, such as paint to use, how to correctly cut apart and attach pieces of minis together.
  7. Finally finished Lysette (Bones 77076), who were meant to enter the beauty pageant, but she got lost on my work table... Also finished Lindir (Bones 77021) at last, he was lost on that same workbench for about 9 months...

    Decisions Decisions

Well, I've decided to start another miniature. Arthrand Nightblade, Elf Ranger Thought this would be a fun challenge to paint.
  9. AMAZON ARMY PRIVATE COLLECTION...This is the (2nd) figure of my Amazon Army. FIGURE...REAPER (# 02528)...Kara, Female Archer.
  10. I will make put a matte finish on both orcs today. The first one has no Quickshade. The white dot on the hair is from priming miniatures near my painted ones with a brush. I should never do it again! 14384: Lesser Orc Warrior 14424: Bull Orc Archer

    Lindir's New Legs

For one of my PFRPG games, the PCs will be running into a group of snakemen. I prefer my snakemen to have human torsos and snake lower bodies, but most of the snakemen minis are either snake-women that fit this description, or snakemen who are just huge snakes with arms. Now that Bones are coming, conversions are cheap, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I will be combining Lindir, Elf Archer with Vandorendra Demon [warning, store link nudity alert]. 30 minutes with an exacto knife and some greenstuff and he has a new pair of legs! Comments on the conversion are welcome, but they need to be made tonight, before the greenstuff cures! Question for those who do conversions - do I need to use superglue as well, or will the greenstuff be enough of a bond? ------------------------------------------ Lindir, checking out his new pair of legs. Simple cuts through both of his legs, and a straight cut through her torso. Further cuts were made to both the torso and the snake tail to get them to roughly match up. I put a blob of greenstuff on the tail then mushed them together. I cleaned up the excess greenstuff and smoothed it out. The butt/tail area had the most gaps. Here's a close-up.
  12. Otherwise titled by my daughter as: Zombie Friends Are Bowling Together Dedicated to my awesome little girl. She loves Scooby Doo and is fascinated with all of my plastic D&D junk. Funny seeing things from a much younger point of view. 4 Reaper minis were painted for this. The 2 ghasts, the archway/crypt gate and the Hero ranger. A bit R rated...Hope you enjoy :)
  13. Not my first mini painted, but the first one I'm willing to share, as many of the earlier ones weren't up to my standards. I only bought this mini to practice on, buy it's inspired me to play an archer paladin as my next PFS character. I didn't even try to detail the eyes. I just don't seem to be able to work at that fine a level of detail. Does anyone have hints for traning may hands to work on really tiny details?

    Black Orc Archer

    Ral Partha orange goblin archer

So I've finally finished my first orangey colored goblin, using orange brown 9201 as the base color. I've got two more in the wings waiting to finish, but those will I'm sure still take weeks and weeks. Took a back and front picture, and tried to keep colors in the spirit of the AD&D Monster Manual: "Goblins range from yellow through dull orange to brick red in skin color. Their eyes are reddish to lemon yellow. They dress in dark leather gear, and their garments tend towards dull, soiled-looking colors (brown drab, dirty greay, stained maroon)." The only thing I really didn't go for was that soiled look, but the colors seems to kind of fit. Anyway, more goblins to come later...
