  1. A 3D printed figure i finished up yesterday. It's a freebie that got thrown in an order image because she was damaged and some of the detail on her is a little soft (particularly her face). The pouch on her right thigh is sculpted from green stuff to cover up a broken crossbow hanging off her belt. She may not be perfect, but I enjoyed working on her.
  2. Hello All, Here is a 77118 Reaper Dark Heaven Bones "Tiviel, Hellborn Rogue" I completed recently. I did add the ponytail to this miniature. The ponytail is from a Chaos Space Marine helmet. Thank you for looking.
  3. Okay, so maybe he's not smelling his cloak. But it sure did make a fun alternate for why he's posed like that. I didn't do my normal battle report because i neglected to take photos while i was going. I'm happy with this guy. Kept it very very simple. I'll still have to base him and a little clean up on the cloak, but overall I'm happy with him.
  4. Catching up on some of my summer painting, here is a pair from August. Slade, Cyborg Hero: And Keryx, Cyborg Assassin:
  5. Black on black, your standard sci-fi street-runner. Gave his coat a touch of purple just to give the eye something to look at.
  6. One of the three minis in the "44036 Dreadmere Females" pack aka "Serena, Dreadmere Rogue" as she is known in the metal version. More like, "Serena, Dark Brotherhood Assassin" if you ask me. Nothing screams secret stealth assassin on a mission to do bloody murder as having members-only assassin guild special shrouded armour that is distinct and different from all other armour types and uniforms... Hm. I thought I heard something... 44036 "Women of Dreadmere" #1 of 3 Dreadmere Expansion, Bones 4 kickstarter 2019 Reaper Miniatures Bones Black PVC Sculpted by Bob Ridolfi 30mm base. Available from reapermini.com
  7. Started these at the same time I did the Middenheimers. One is based on Astrid from Skyrim, the other on an old coworker whom the sculpt resembled. Victory two of the challenge thus far. Overall I'm happy with how they came out. again I went with a simple grey stone base in case I rebase them in the future. "Dine and dash, eh?!" "The Dark Brotherhood eats for free!" The cloak could've come out better, but I'm more concerned with clearing the Shelf of Incompleteion currently.
  8. This is yet another of my metal trade bin finds! I picked him out because he looked like he was wounded, and I love minis in poses other than at-arms. It turns out that he's clutching a dagger on his chest, and not a wound. Also, I'm spoiled by Reaper's wonderful faces. This one is a little bit flat, though that may be due to being in the bin. Anyway, not my best work, but I painted this in a few hours!
  9. Here is the female assassin from the Grenadier Action Art set “Monsters”. I don’t really think of female assassins as monsters, except in the metaphorical sense. I would have been a little disappointed if a box labeled “Monsters” had had a bunch of people. But anyway... Her face is a bit rough; the sculpting makes her look old, but her short dress seems to imply a young woman. But maybe it’s just a long shirt?
  10. Back in the early 80’s, Grenadier put out a few “learn to paint” type mini kits, much like the few Reaper has done. They were called Action Art and came with 11 or so minis each. This guy is from one such set. I’ve painted him as recommended in the “Action Art Painting Guide.” He is small, even for the early days of 25mm sculpts. So he’s shrimpy, yet buff. Enjoy.
  11. Managed to do more painting today. The assassin is by North Star. I was aiming for a lighter palette, rather than a ninja. I think I need to go back in and highlight more. The knight is mainly fireforge, templar body, cloak, and scandi infantry head. The arms are from the Oathmark elves set though. They are just based on 25mm washers and will add some texture, foam rocks, and snow effects to both bases once grey base coat has dried. It takes ages to get a consistent coat on the washers and that and the hole in the middle are the only downsides to using them.
  12. I started this figure to be a slightly overenthusiastic Russian bodyguard for Vampire: The Masquerade. When I finished her the GM said she would better serve as a character who is a Mage: The Ascension Void Engineer soldier, basically a space marine. This was also a slight experiment in the sort of colorless blonde character with invisible eyebrows, except I gave her really heavy eye makeup. She isn't really wide-eyed, but her blue eyes are very pale, giving a staring effect. According to Hasslefree's flavor text her two big guns are Heckler & Koch MP5Ks. A little Googling tells me that the MP5K is of German design, but also made in Iran and Turkey, and is "the ultimate close-quarters weapon, created for use in very confined spaces". From guns I know nothing, but okay. There is no WIP thread, but comments and questions are welcome.
  13. Here is 77035, Deladrin, female assassin. And a close-up of the cloak. I wanted practice working with black. I base coated it in Walnut Brown, then slowly highlighted up to a mixture of Walnut Brown and Blue Liner, and down to Pure Black in the deeps of the folds. While it looks better in hand than it does in extreme close-up photos, you can hardly tell those highlights are there at all. Is it too subtle? I can't decide. The base is from Micro Arts Studio. EDIT: Oh, and is just me, or does Werner Klocke tend to sculpt very small eyes? I had a devil of a time with these, and I'm still not happy with them. But they're hard to see under the lip of the hood anyway, so I finally just let it go.
  14. Here's another post. Hellakin languished on my shelf of shame for about 5 years. He was intended as an entry into a forum contest for painting "little people." Life got in the way. I recently decided to finish him, in a little bit of a rushed fashion. He sat and sat at the basecoat stage. I struggled with figuring out how to do his cloak black. I am not too happy with it. It reads dark blue, as I'm trying to paint black without cycling up through gray, as you'll see here: I'm more pleased with the gold nmm on the knife than the steel. But, I tried to really suggest he's in a dark area by the shadowed part of the blade remaining nearly black. Here are some more shots of him. I'm pretty pleased with the hair color and face: He's got a very intense stare. The eyebrows didn't please me very much. The base is a "hollow" round base with a circle of cobblestone patterned sheet styrene from a model railroad supply hobby shop that I painted up to give him a feeling of being in a dungeon. If I wanted to spend more time on him, I'd paint his toenails and fiddle more with the knife. I originally had a thought to try to paint shadows and light on the base to make it seem like he's sneaking up on someone to backstab from the shadows. I gave up on that ;) Overall, he fills a missing niche among my painted figures of an iconic halfling rogue. C&C Welcome.
  15. Good morning, so here's my last little painted piece of happiness, another Hackmaster figure that Ral Partha has gotten a hold of, a human thief. I actually kind of have begun liking these figures quite a lot, as they feel like prototypes of their classes so often, kind of generic, but very nicely done in that old school feel. I wanted dark colors for this one, but didn't want just black, so hopefully gave him a bit of variety with the colors.
  16. Greetings! Just finished another Reaper 25th Anniversary mini, this time Eli Quicknight. I went with a dark gritty theme overall but with a flash of colour on his cloak. I used Reaper Master Series Triad 09701: Blood Colors for this - really happy with how they went on & the overall finish. Thanks for looking! (4 Down, 8 to go!)
  17. This is a heavy detailed bust from Legendarion. Meet Gebhuza the Hyena Warrior. In my mind he's an assassin / Bodyguard type, look at all those knives he's carrying besides his sword, I tried to make him into a Spotted Hyena. Hope you guys enjoy him. For those interested the WIP: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62312-gebhuza-hyena-warrior-bust-by-xherman1964/
  18. Greetings! Presenting Reaper's March 25th Anniversary miniature - Tara The Silent. 3 Down 9 to go.... Thanks for looking!
  19. Rothmartyn of the DarkWold by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Quality: Table Top PLUS This piece is TT+ but it also has a more of a "reach" in it than a TT+. I attempted a more elaborate freehand with the cloak - which you can see on the WIP linked at the bottom. As well as I attempted NMM for the first time. Now let me give you some context on that last sentence. I typically do TMM (True Metallic Metals) and I do them in virtually the same manner but with the added benefit (IMHO) of having actual reflection while on the table. So yes this was my first execution of NMM successfully, it is not far from my normal. All in all I think it turned out well. The green blade as well is in NMM effect. For this piece I really wanted to ascent texture which I attempted on the tunic that is laying across his legs. And other bits and bobs. The face is pretty basic which is one of the reasons I didn't do a close up of it. RBG faces from this era are pretty small and the eyes are tiny. So tiny seeing a pupil and reflection mark would be... useless in my opinion. But I would say it turned out well. More personality than I thought I was going to give it. I was B+ satisfied with the cloak. I tried doing a suggestion @Darcstaar gave me but I think I executed it "o.k". I'll try again with another model. I attempted a few new things with this piece and I like how it turned out. Thank you all for your help and support. Would really enjoying your questions, comments and critiques on this. WORK IN PROGRESS: RBG: RothMartyn of the DarkWold
  20. Haven't had much time to take photo's of a WIP on the warband I've been working on but now that I'm done with them and can work on individual figures at time I figured I would show you guys what I'm working on. The cloak is painted in Monarch Purple then washed in Reaper Brown wash to dull itThis is done because of the free hand pattern I'm planning on putting on it I want to be subtle but noticeable. The horizontal lines on the cloak are done in Monarch purple. You can see how the brown wash really dulled the purple to make the original color pop a bit more. These are guidelines as the moment. To keep the coloration similar I did what I like to call a wash-invert. The brown is washed with a diluted Monarch Purple and the Purple is washed in Browns. And the browns look very purple in the photo but they are not that bad. The center armored tunic is paint VLJ German Grey then the recess' are washed in Gloss black. The Belt is painted in gloss black. This is really just surface stuff right now. I'm going to get into it this weekend. I got bored and had him primed while working on my warband and did some of his base.
  21. So here he is the final piece to the set I've been working on, an old Ral Partha AD&D set from the nineties, the Drow Elf assassin. and here: is the whole set and as a reminder the other three individually: Enjoy!
