I do not understand how this mini is supposed to go together. There is a large hair bulge that is supposed to fit in the hollow of the back. I tried sliding and twisting and cannot get the head to fit on in a dry fit. I cant imagine doing this after painting. I don't really want to try and paint and be unable to get into corners. Has anyone posted this anywhere? Things got caught and I see white stress marks on the mini where I had to try and force it off and it makes me super nervous to try anything again. This is exactly why I would 100 times out of 100 take a poorly glued at the factory mini. It's effectively wasted money for me, because I can't do anything with it.

I received the Thunderworm from Reaper and it is marvelous. I have six pieces for it. The wheels are the same, obviously. But it seems that I have an extra piece. I have two axle-beam supports. In all the images where this product is assembled, it doesn't seem to have a second one. Should I have only rec'd five pieces or is there a place where the second axle-beam support is supposed to go that I missed? Thanks! EDIT: I sent an email to Reaper support and they indeed have confirmed that it is an extra piece. This product only should have five parts. Question answered!

Hey all! My DDS 2 came in the mail today, and I pulled out the tower to look at it. Boy does that stuff feel weird to an guy who has pretty much only done metal, with some resin here and there! So, what kind of Glue does one use to assemble the tower???? I read Wren's post that super glue was best, but this material makes me wonder... Is this most people's experience? Also, do most folks base the whole this as a piece, or leave them separate? Thanks in advance! 8) George

Hello everyone, I just received a mini in the mail today and was wondering what the best way to go about assembling the cape for it was. The miniature in question is a resin mini called Dieter Kaufmann who I will be painting up like Malcom Reynolds for Starfinder. I'm going to be painting the back of the legs before I put it on so I can actually reach it, but I was wondering if simple CA glue would be sufficient to keeping the cape on. I've attached a picture of the separated pieces.

Just checking. I am soon to assemble my first small-scale multipart resin miniatures, the sort with a number of possibly fiddly bits (Eyeballing them quickly, it looks like things like arms were fairly well-designed, with integral pin/pegs and corresponding shoulder holes already provided). I have assembled great slabs o' resin before, but this is the first delicate resin I've had to glue. On the whole I favor epoxy as glue, but would cyanoacrylate glue be a better choice for little minis? Any tips? The figures are more or less Egyptian-style cat people ("The Republic of Khaliman") from a French skirmish game called "Alkemy", if that makes a difference. Lots of thin little tails and arms.

Being that I am 39 and rapidly approaching 40... miniature assembly (while still enjoyable) has become more of a chore... So what miniature ranges/companies/etc to you absolutely love putting together, and which are your bane and why...? Love em Wrath of kings- Resin/restic models. I know some hate restic, but these have grooves that make assembly easy. They are dynamic with only having really one or two ways to go together. I especially love the bigger models. (C.A.G.E., werewolves, etc....) The smaller models are ok, some though have fiddly bits (like the nasier back spikes) but overall even the smaller models are fun to put together. Reaper- bones models are generally one piece. The metal models come with assembly needed but nothing extensive. Generally very nice to put together. Warmachine/Hordes- For the same reason as Wrath of kings. The restic models go together nicely. I don't play the game so I cant comment on the metal miniatures... (though I do have a few on the one piece metals). Hate em Malifaux- The reason for this post. The miniatures are awesome. Very detailed and love the subject matter... But... Aggghhhh!!!!! they are the bane of my existence. I got The Smoke and Mirrors boxed set and the Coryphee set today. The Coryphee were not THAT bad... but the Mannequins.... 1 of them is 13 pieces... and the pieces are super tiny... Very lovely models... but driving me crazy... I like the models and hate them... I even sent a box (Ronin) to a miniature painter because I love the models but gave up trying to assemble... I am still waiting on my Black Friday Kingdom Death, and heard that they are challenging to assemble as well... :( So What miniatures drive you guys crazy?

So I started a dragon a couple of days ago, and I have been having a little bit of difficulty with it. After reviewing some of the other works in progress posts I noticed that, in some cases, people don't assemble the pieces until after it is painted. Is this a common practice? For example, if I am painting a dragon with wings that are not sculpted on, is it better to paint them before putting them on? Does it really matter? Thanks! CAH

I've noticed that when I get minis that come in multiple pieces, they often don't line up precisely. The bigger the mini, the more gaps and distortion there seem to be. Specifically, I recently got #10006 Gauth (!!!GRANDFATHER! OF DRAGONS!!!)!) and the pieces of the body have some significant gaps now that I've got him assembled. I'd like to paint him for the 2015 annual diorama contest, but before I prime I'd like to make sure my finished product is going to look smooth and complete. Does anyone have any suggestions? What materials do you use? Etc. Also, I've never done a fig this big before. Is one bottle of paint going to be enough for the base color, or do I need to order more before I get started? I use the 1/2 oz bottles of Master Series Paint. I'd hate to get started on my base coat and find that I don't even have enough paint.

I received my Starhawk from Reaper and was wondering what tips you guys might have for assembly and painting. I am probably going to pin the arms, but was wondering if folks painted the pieces and them assembled or assembled and the painted? When I dry fit the pieces, it looked like the side of the cockpit and nose assembly would be hard to paint with the Gatling guns on the side. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Okay, Leanne ... TURN AROUND AND LEAVE THIS TOPIC. J/K. She's not on the forums. I think. Anyway, the Jabberwocky in question is not the Bones Jabberwock from the Kickstarter. Those disappointed may want to stick around anyway. Feel free to comment or point and snicker. Here it is: I got this on the holiday clearance sale at FRP Games last December. The manufacturer: As you can see I already pulled it out and played with it a bit to see how it assembles and what shape it's in. Overall it's a stout figure with the caricature wings and a fairly standard jabberwocky face. The legs were askew from the blister so after some careful adjusting I managed to get it close to where it will stand on it's own. Sadly it was rather boring looking as it was kind of head down. Sorry, I was working on this in between getting home from work and dinner out with the family so I forgot the unpackaging and initial setup shots. So, after getting him set, I picked out a piece of slate for him that was big enough for his base and the figure. Then I figured out where I would attach him to the base. Marked the stone with pencil. Then pinned his foot. Measuring where the pin was, I drilled a hole through the slate with a masonry bit. I wanted to dress up his base and angle him up a bit on the rock so he's looking more level without manhandling his head up and then trying to angle it forward. The base included is a large, slotted, lipped round. I covered the slot with a little tape, put down the smaller piece of slate with some superglue, filled the lip with black ballast and brought it to the edge of the first piece of slate. Then after lining up the larger piece of slate with the hole, I added superglue to the smaller slate edge and the lip at the other end. I filled in the open space formed by the angled pieces with more black ballast. As you can see, the smallest masonry bit is too large for the pin so I added some green stuff and smoothed it out. In this instance, I don't plan to paint the base at all. I like the look of it and it's not a gaming piece. It will get sprayed at the end with sealer and Dullcote. Once I had the base assembled and things set where they should be, I didn't like how his feet were placed on the rock and wanted to adjust it a little. So I put some green stuff on while holding it to the rock and molded it into more of a heel. I intentionally left it a bit larger then I think the end result will be so I can sand it back. Here he is resting in on the base from both sides: Later tonight I will attach his wings. His heels needed time to cure a bit so I don't mess them up while working on his wings. Tomorrow I sand the green stuff out and prime him. For a paint scheme I was thinking of pink-purple on the belly around to purple-green on top and the back ridges blackened purple with some pink-purple around the mouth from under his chin and the top armored portion of his face being the purple-green. Or a reverse of that. We'll see. I have until Friday evening to finish it. Earlier if I plan to wrap it. LOL .

So my reaper minis finally came in the mail! Yay! They're awesome, but I'm having a little trouble with the assembly so if any of you more experienced folks could help me out I'd really appreciate it. Issue #1: One of the figurines' legs are spread in a manner that does not fit the base. Namely, the Cthulhu one (the Kaladrax is giving me a little trouble too but not as much). I would litterally have to bend the legs awkwardly to make it fit on its base. Is this normal for reaper products? What do I need to do to fix it? Or do I need to call reaper and ask them for an exchange? What does everyone else normally do in this situation? Issue #2: Are you supposed to paint all the pieces first or assemble and glue them together first? Does anyone know?
