    Skeleton with Axe (02128)

Up now is Ed Pugh's Skeleton With Axe. Love the looks of him, but, beyond that, he holds a special place in my heart. He's the only (Reaper) mini I've ever bought in the town in which I live (I got a few old GW minis at the same time, but who's counting them). I fished him from a box of minis at our town's first ever comic con, this spring. He was painted, so I stripped him just so I could have my go. Ta-da. Thanks for looking!

    92759 Anti Paladin Hero/Villain

The last of my Hero/Villain set. This one is a no brainer. I imagine instead of a Holy Avenger this Anti Paladin got a Demon Shield. It's her side kick. Talks to her, has its own personality, etc. That's why I painted it a completely different color than her. I have a double of this mini minus the ax arm. I think i'll make it a Half Orc.

    Primus Death

The villainous Primus Death by Enigma Miniatures, been after him for a couple of years but he always seemed to be out of stock. You can find his WIP thread here Had great fun painting this guy, and I'm really happy with how he turned out. Comments and criticisms are, as always, very appreciated.
  4. Mash, Half Ogre from Reaper. A really cool figure. Sadly I dropped it on the floor just as I was going to seal it, and of course the axe-hand-arm piece broke, along with some paint. Quite agitated I just threw some black (and brownblack) on the joints after reglueing. Could be better, but it could also be worse.

    Brynjar Thorir, Red Box Games

Brynjar Thorir from Red Box Games. Another atempt to cure my "tre-manor-indimitating-sculpts"-phobia. I'm trying to finally cure it this year. I'm not sold on my coloring but overall I'm satisfied with the result.

    77064: Kavorgh, Orc Warboss

For 2/4 of the FebRPChallenge, I painted up Kavorgh in the guidelines of the LTPK. Not -entirely- pleased with how he came out, especially the eyes, but I've determined I need brushes that hold their points better now...
  7. Next up, an old Grenadier mini from the Julie Guthrie's Personalities line. I really love this mini. I wish I could've done it more justice. I imagine this guy as a dragon slayer, for whatever reason. The grungy sort, though, rough and perhaps of noble connections somehow but rather crude. Mean. Not much better than an evil dragon, perhaps. I gave him a mustache. It looked like he was supposed to have a mustache. Anyway, second attempt at basing. Used some flock LittleBluberry sent me in my Secret Sophie package and some rocks I'd gotten a while back. Super simple, but yeah. Thanks for looking!

    60075: King Castruccio Irovetti

Finally painted another Reaper figure after far too long, my WIP thread of him is available here Wish I could've done something to make the patterning on his 'skirt' stand out, but apart from that I'm fairly happy with him. Comments and criticisms are, as always, greatly appreciated.
  9. Santa Dwarf is coming to town.

    02373: Balan Ironbreaker

I fiiiinally got around to painting my Balan Ironbreaker after having him on my desk for months. I'm so in love with this sculpt. Don't quite get the tongue; but I so love this sculpt. I was really happy with his hair. I got some brown mixed in with a wash, and it was layered brown/gray/white pretty nicely (for me), but it didn't want to show like I wanted in the photos, I think. I'll be honest and say I think this is some of my best work so far, though there's a lot on which I'd like to improve. Thanks for looking! Comments and criticism are most welcome.

    [60144] Ulf Gormundr, Reaper Miniatures

My quickest turnaround from purchase to finished yet! Recieved the order this monday and completed it yesterday. I've painted this up as the miniature for a friends character in an upcoming DnD campaign. Quite pleased with the result and I kind of want to create a character of my own and use this to represent him...

    Anval Thricedamned

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums here and after recently completing Anval Thricedamned as a commission piece, I thought I'd share my final work with you to see what you think. I'm always trying to improve my technique so any constructive comments or critique are welcome.

    02811: Dain Deepaxe [LTPK5]

Well here is my go at LTPK5's Dain Deepaxe. I know the instructions have him as a red head, but I thought I needed the practice at black hair (still think I do). Not so fond of my steel, but I think the gold turned out well enough. I seems that the gloss sealer and matt finish have toned down the highlights a little. I then finished him off with my first attempt at a snow base. I used baking soda, glue, white paint, and water. Without further to-do Dain Deepaxe:

    Goblin Warrior, Citadel Miniatures (?)

A miniature from my past (repainted now though). It was found together with a bunch of other miniatures dating back to when I started painting, before I took a long hiatus from the hobby. I should have had the presence of mind to take a picture before I stripped the old paint job to compare, but the old paint job wasn't really worth it :)
  15. Mithril weapon and amour, horn of battle and secret Dwarven brew... Here's 14588 Dhulrekk Thulfinson, Rune Warrior of Kragmarr. He was sculpted by Jason Wiebe. I added dry branches and snow effect on the base.

    Barbarian Woman

This is the second mini that I have painted since getting back into it (I messed around with the craft a bit as a kid). I painted her to use as a character my wife and I rolled up, Peony Bangcutter, the barbarian hairstylist. I still have to figure out what to do for a base. I'd also like to go back and do some better highlighting for the skin. Critiques and feedback are welcome. The minis is: 03079: Nyree, Female Pit Fighter

    Sigurd, Mercenaries Sergeant

I recently finished this speed paint for a friend to use as his character in an upcoming D&D game our group will be playing. I really enjoyed painting him and experimenting with colors :) C&C Welcome and appreciated!! :D

    Ral Partha: Frost Giant

The "ice" base is plastic that's been cut with a rotary tool and covered with a sand painted white with some "snow" crystals about his feet. I've been a fan of blue skinned frost giants for years, so when I painted this gentleman quite some time ago I wanted him to have this dark blue face with white hair with some blonde in his beard. I stuck to a "seal" color for his paints and gauntlets. The rest of him is fairly basic coloring. As always C&C welcome.

    03293: Nadia Giltaxe, Dwarf

So I like working with metallics, and i needed more female dwarves for my collection, so this mini was an obvious buy. There's an incredible level of detail on this mini. Had to add smaller brushes to my collection so I could do the smaller bits justice. The face is better than my previous humanoids, but still not great. I also feel like the ink i used didn't stick to the silver very well. Still one of my favorite works.

    02924 Bertok, Barbarian (L2PK4)

Finished up the first half of Learn to Paint Kit 4, and gotten him based. I used a stick and some Army Painter wasteland tufts to liven up the base. Dunno about the tufts on the stick. Thinking that might have been a mistake. The axe came out better than I'd hoped. It's probably my best metallic weapon thus far. My attempted highlight on his eye patch came out... less awesomely. I still don't know what's going on with his obliques. I just... I don't think muscles are supposed to do that. He should really see a cleric about that. Here you can get a better look at his oddly snobbish expression. "Oh, please, Ungor. Don't tell me you brought a mace to a pillaging. Those are so last year." "You have to accessorize, of course. I wouldn't be caught dead without my leather bag and rope. And how do you like my dagger? I think it goes smashingly with the axe, don't you?"

... And Justice Was All He Had To Give

This was my first mini that I had fully painted and based. Making the log was a bunch of fun.
  22. I am quite the amatuer when it comes to painting minis. However, I find it a lot of relaxing fun. My D&D group is only halfway (?) through the original full DragonLance modules, so we need a lot of minis for all of the characters! The problem I run in to is finding a mini that best suits the character. Case in point was finding a female dwarven monk for my new character Ulfa. I couldn't find anyone without big weapons! I came across "03363: Dannin Deepaxe, Female Dwarf" and decided to try my hand at modification. I removed the axe and shield and tried to reform the hands. Not the best photographer, but here are the results:

    Elf from the 80's

This one goes out to Buglips (even if it is an elf ;)) I'm not sure of the company, probably Ral Partha, but I am sure of the sculptor; Tom Meier. I have one other elf from this range that I need to finish some time in the coming months/weeks, but he is pretty far back in the current queue (at least until I pull him forward).
  24. Here is Bogorislav the Mad, my interpretation of Boris Mingla sculpted by Werner Klocke. I only added a toupee on this one. Again, I mixed both NMM and real metallic paint to continue my exploration of this combination of techniques. I hope you’ll like it. Comments and critiques are welcome.
  25. Here is Kord, Barbarian Berserker Hero. Another awesome Tre Manor sculpt. My only beef with the sculpt are the hands being as big or bigger than his head. I guess it kind of adds to the dramatic effect though. I stuck with more earthy tones on this mini and again was working on my NMM abilities. The NMM is not bad, a lot smoother than I usually achieve, but could probably be better. I have him mounted on a 50mm base because he is rather dynamic in size. This was also the first basing were I sculpted moss on the rocks, Not sure that turned out as well as it could have. Comments and Critique welcome.
