  1. Here's a bunch of quickie terrain from Bones 4.
  2. This is my take on the Bones 4 Blacksting Wyvern. Definitely not to the level of the beautiful one from Sirithiliel. But I’m pretty pleased with it. I used a lot of shortcuts to get the most bang in the least amount of time : “blending” with airbrush, overuse of washes, and “dirty” feel to hide the crimes. This sculpt was a pleasure to work on and the large wingspan really makes it stand out (and hard to take pics of).
  3. Something that was shockingly lacking in my collection was Merlin/Gandalf types. I think I had traded or sold most of them. Bones 4 helped with that.
  4. Something strangely missing from my Thundering of Giants, Stone Giants! I'm a big fan of the new Lost Valley sculpts from Bones 4.
  5. Another set from the "Lost Valley" expansion from Reaper Miniatures Bones 4, the Jadefire Tribe Orcs.
  6. My first few batches from Bones 4 are complete. Let us start by hailing King Torg. All hail King Torg!
  7. Finally got around to taking some pictures of the work I have been doing. Some of this was done early march, some done in the few minutes when i wasn't either sleeping or working. This has been sitting on my "want to do this shelf" (different from my 'tried and failed shelf of shame' Anyway there was a little picture that someone put together of the Jungle titan rocking out on a photoshoped in guitar and the temple dragon as the lead singer. So i took this to the logical conclusion and created the band "Punk Lizards" they use the dragon plants as part of the light show.
  8. Shop link: 77259: Fly Demon Painted up this Fly 'demon' as a Giant Fly for a upcoming campaign. Fun for such a simple mini. :)
  9. Is there a conversion chart somewhere or a list of colors for the HD lines and how they map to the 'new' Bones HD line replacement? I am trying to compare colors and all charts online utilize the HD line and not sure how I can tie in the HD line with the Bones HD lines which I have. This is the conversion chart I am using and as you can see there is only the HD line. So trying to figure out which of the Bones HD to substitute in. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xl-x9eW3bLw5eqDeNUG2JUwn2EZwn34TDKfNIg5uul4/edit#gid=8 Thanks all for your input. Rea
  10. Hey all, It's been a while! Didn't get a lot of painting done in the back half of last year because of a few things, but I have started to climb back to the painting desk. I have a few projects I have completed that I will have to upload, but for now enjoy this rendition of Nor'Okk the Ettin. For some reason I have a soft spot for large, Ogre-like miniatures. I like the scale, I like that they're humanoid but big enough to have really good opportunities to play with muscle tone, etc. I do have a lot of ogres set up to work on, so I wanted to make this ettin differen
  11. I was painting Kieran Tallowmire. I was quite apprehensive as I found that miniature to be quite daunting will all the detail (books, candle, familiar on shoulder ...). I first wanted him to be different ... so no grey robes, no blue robes ... I went for green, which totally did not work out. So he ended up with blue robes (was the easiest way to salvage the wreck that "dark green" had done). Of course, the way he is holding the book and his hand, he is conjuring something, but if green had worked, I would not have had an idea what - a plant maybe? Blue robes - water mage, water elementa
  12. Some basic table-top paints here, The owlbear paint is (more or less) a straight up copy of the Reaper website example but i think the base is interesting. It starts off basically as a rock/gravel pile, and I thought it was rather boring so i turned it into the Owl Bear's cave floor covered in feces about an arms length deep. Practiced some sculpting on it. With P3 putty The big rocks were turned into Ogre skulls, a horse skull, and a face-down skeleton of some sad creature, all simmering in poo :) The Ankheg, it's always a balance of painting something like for max visual
  13. I don’t have the lot number yet. Also, this is my first post so guidance on posting conventions is welcome. The Bones 4 haul was extraordinary! Edit: sized down. I’ll figure out how to get down to 150 kB later.
  14. My first Black Bones mini, I got this lovely Owlbear from @Corsair !!! Thanks friend I hope did it proud! WIP here if interested: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/85553-bones-black-owlbear/ It took primer and paint very well. Glued with Greenstuffworld Superglue to it's base and flocked. Hope you like it!
  15. Finished this miniature today for my Wrath of the Righteous campaign. Part of a LOT of demons. He has more slime on his base then the picture brings out, but he was fun to paint and actually sorta quick due to some airbrush work. 7377: Toad Demon on the Reaper store
  16. This thread is shamelessly ripping off a wonderful idea from our goblin friend @buglips*the*goblin from this thread way back around Bones KS1 days. The intent of this thread is to have lots of people post WIP shots of their Bones Sophie paint jobs. Here are the minis to pick from (SKUs to be updated here soon): From Left to Right: KS2 Trollslayer Sophie 77370, KS3 Sophie the Sage 77491, KS4 Innkeeper Sophie, KS4 Small World Sophie, Sir Forscale (Note that Sir Forscale is just that, for scale. He is not part of this for WIP purposes.) There is no t
  17. The challenge complete! I present Kai, the Strawberry Dragon! Thank you all for the challenge and the feedback!
  18. Waiting for my Bones 4 to show up... Barnabas is representing a sea dwarf ship captain played by one of my DND players. His trident was forged by Poseidon from the deepest coral; it is harder than adamantine armor.
  19. I got two Efreetis in my recent Reaper order. Out of the two one had far more gap lines than the other, so I opened the one that would take less effort to work on first since it's been awhile since I have properly tinkered with a mini. First thing's first, gap filling! This model had quite a lot of mold lines too, I dealt with most of them with an xacto knife and a file. The Bones Black material is brittle enough to handle a file if you're careful unlike the white Bones counterpart. While priming I noticed that part of one of her horns was missing, must h
  20. I have begun the best thing I can think of for myself to get through my Bones I stockpile. I went to the Kickstarter page, took screenshots of the reward pictures, and am using it as a checklist. I’ll be shooting for tabletop+. First up is Cassie, gnome wizard. Mold lines addressed, cleaned, and on a rudimentary base. Primed with Brown Liner. Flesh tone base is Rosy Shadow. Then working on eyes. Nightshade Purple and Linen White so far. And that’s all I got done today.
  21. My wife bought me most of the IMEF minis as a gift summertim some time back. I just need one more(not counting the Bulldog in Bones 4) and I'm planning to paint them all at once...but it makes sense to have one done as a test piece. Sure. That's my story. Also with him is a papercraft APC, because of course these guys will need armored support!
  22. Rembrant van Rjin 1606-1669 One of the most famous of the Old masters. I decided to try and replicate his middle period. The largest change I made was using a limited palette, and mixing all the colors I used. Many teachers have recommended this style and it finally sunk in USE MORE PAINT ON THE PALLET. Mix a shade and higlight version of your main color. have it all right there, in large quantities. I tried for smooth blends but got carried away by the speed of this style on the archer. The club wielder has better results. Each Lizardman uses only: Russet b
  23. Just finished painting a copy of the Bones version of Satheras using two hues plus black and white: I started him during our last paint day as an example of how you could use a single brown to get quite a few different looks. After I got home, I decided to keep on with a very limited palette. Paints used (all Golden Fluid Acrylics): Burnt Sienna Dioxazine Purple Zinc White Carbon Black Not intended as a competition mini, but it was a really interesting exercise and the result, I think, has some virtue as a
  24. Painted up the demi-lich from the Bones line. He is rather small. Decided against any OSL, it would just drown out the skull.
  25. I painted up two lemures from the Bones line. I tried to closely match the colorscheme I have used to paint some lemures from otherworld miniatures. I am pleased with the results. (Scroll down for family picture!) They were pretty tough to paint, for they did not have a lot of texture to them. Earlier Bones and all that. Still fun to do. :)
