  1. If you took the Bones Mashup class at Reapercon, or did the Hobby Hijinks Quick Conversion round then this is the place to post your creations. I'll start: This was my magnum opus for Thursday's Bones Mashup: And then I made this guy rather quickly in the final minutes. On Friday I did the Hobby Hijinks version and came away with this. I borrowed a little cat litter from Bob Ridolfi to spruce up the base.
  2. Howdy, Four... uh... mites... Grimlins, Kev!
  3. Undertaker is very plan, just messing with light effects
  4. Tried something different with this Fire Elemental over the weekend. I had already painted this fig in the traditional red/yellow/smokey colors earlier and had a blast with it, so I decided to give it another shot. I thought purple would be neat, so I just ran with it. Being a native Minnesotan, I'll be calling this The Prince Elemental after The Purple One. I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I'm looking forward to unleashing this funky elemental on a party in need of some soul. Comments and critiques are welcome as always, thanks in advance!
  5. This past week I decided to paint the Kristianna figure from the Bones 2 "Heroes I" set. I had recently seem someone post online somewhere (was it here?) some figures they had done with the clear weapons from Bones 3 weapon sprues; where they had painted parts of the clear piece, and left others see-through; and I had decided I wanted to try something similar with this figure. I'm really happy with the results. For the full conversion and painting article, please see my blog: Kristianna Conversion
  6. Reaper Miniatures 77016, Rats Dark Heaven Bones sculpted by Sandra Garrity .
  7. I love the poses, but the face on this mold is terrible. Either way, I had fun painting them up!
  8. Silver dragon done up in red...
  9. Here comes the boggy 77521, Gravewailer, Dark Heaven Bones sculpted by Julie Guthrie. This ghostly aberration is also known as a Gibbering Mouther or Babélien. I painted it with acrylics, ink and sealed it with gloss brush-on sealer.
  10. as Usual, I failed to clean him up well, but he’s good for the table
  11. In response to a local club challenge, I painted this dwarf in 3 colors chosen by a computer program. written by @SirLarpsAlot Golden Yelllow, Winter Blue and Leather Brown + B&W edit, I do need to fix that eye...
  12. Hi all, I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed, but does anyone know if Reaper has ever discussed/considered making the Bones ground sculpts that support the miniature the perfect circumference to be flush for 1" or 2" or 3" for RPG bases? Even for just the smaller miniatures that would fit 1" or 2" bases and not the large-sized ones? It seems like there would be a big portion of the market that would love a miniature you don't have to do special basing for besides supergluing it to a base considering how great some of the sculpted ground looks already. Basing miniatures by r
  13. I picked this up to paint for my girlfriend as Lon reminds me of her dog Erebus. He was fun to paint, although looking at the photo I can see a lot of flash I missed. As Erebus is female I probably should have done Lon's trousers in pink or the same teal shade as Erebus's collar and leash.
  14. Went a bit crazy and felt the call of the mini. Painted this in a single afternoon. Starting to get a hang on wet blending.
  15. My girlfriend's been fascinated by Antarctic exploration for a few months so when I saw that Reaper make an Antarctic Explorer figure, I had to get it and paint it for her. Here he is photographed in front of a porcelain iceberg she picked up at an art exhibit. She was really happy that I'd painted it for her but it took her about 30 seconds to say, "Isn't that the main guy from that Thing movie??"...
  16. Here is Count Lorenth ready to receive his lady's favor and dazzle the crowds at the tournament.
  17. Finally got around to painting this awesome fig today. I was torn between painting it like a lava monster or a blue/green chameleon. I am running an adventure next weekend that takes place deep inside a mountain, so I decided on the lava lizard style so I have a little something extra to throw at the party if they are having too easy of a time. I am definitely going to snag another one of these to paint with bright greens and blues at some point though. I think I will also go over the feathers on the head along with the arm hair later this week to brighten them up a little. I wanted those
  18. Long time I did not post a little painted guy :) That’s the left over figure from the diorama, so I finally got him paint.
  19. When I first saw this model in Bones 1 I knew I had to do a custom piece. So, several months later, here it is. Now a closeup: And finally a top-down view of the base: Hope you guys like it, it's been one of the most fun projects I've ever done and I'm really happy with the colour scheme and how the base looks. Any comments and criticism welcome as always :)
  20. This was a rush job for an upcoming game, totally missed the mold lines...but he’s good enough. 2nd pic was still WIP
  21. I loved painting these guys. Originally I wanted to paint them like the characters from the game by ChainsawAwesome, but my children objected to one of the colors, so one of them is clearly a previously-unknown unlockable. ;-) One of the really awesome features of these sculpts is the parchment on the back of the shields. I'm still debating if I trust my freehand ability enough to write something on it... like "POINT OTHER SIDE AT ENEMY" or "PILLAGE, THEN BURN" ;-)
  22. Got a little funky with the colors, not sure how I feel about it
  23. Hey there, adventurer! I'm just a friendly little treasure chest. Why don't you slowly reach in and grab a few coins...BLAGHABLAGHABLAH!!!
  24. 77140: Townsfolk: Village Rioter sculpted by Bobby Jackson I've been working on a big army project, so I painted this to take a break and refresh my brain. I've been working on an OSL speed painting technique to use in my painting classes, and I think it's working pretty well. This is roughly 4-5 hours work, so a ways to go yet before its really 'speed painting'.
