  1. I have been working on my contrast while painting- I love this sculpt! This was shot with 2 different lighting setups- which one does everyone prefer?
  2. Been working on this off and on since RCon. I originally intended to enter it for my Ed Sculpt, but ran out of time. Instead I focused on trying to get a decent fast paint job. I'd guess I'm at about 6 hours total over 4 or 5 days. Sorry I didn't take many process pics. The next step is basing. I have a few ideas, but I'm trying to let them gel a bit.
  3. Simple conversion painted to tabletop quality for the big bad for my D&D group.
  4. Boom! Partial stoney nudity: Females Partial stoney nudity: Males
  5. My first time posting to this forum, please let me know if I misstep :p Reaper Bones Black: 44002 Rock Troll I added a more rocky base using rock and some plastic crystals carved from leftover plastic sprue. Also added some more crystals to his elbows and side. The elbows were just because I thought it would make it look more menacing but the one on his side was because of a huge hole leftover from the moulding process. To take care of assembly lines I used some of the rock I cracked apart for the base. I still have the belt and pouch to do, along with the b
  6. So the reason I had spare blackstar rifles was that I decided a proper pirate captain needs a sword. So I built this guy with the bones 3 weapon pack, and the spare head off of the bones 4 bulldog armor. His sword has much fire, and his reactor a distressing blue glow.
  7. Hi all. I just finished the Colossal Skeleton that I've had for a couple years now. For the longest time I was holding off because I was afraid of doing a mini so much bigger than all the rest. I've gotten some nice reviews on some of my recent stuff so I decided to take the plunge and try my hand at my first large figure. I have several sets much larger than even this guy so I had to start somewhere. The closeup pics show how much work I did on the fur for the back lioncloth as well as the wood grain lines I painted on the planks on his right thigh. I based him on a wooden plaque my mom
  8. Did a little painting today to calm my nerves before the con. Experimented with several brands of metallic paint. Photos are not great, but you get the idea.
  9. Finished this guy up.
  10. Here are a trio I painted up quickly for the same encounter as the smaller ones - result is a bit cartoony but serviceable. I think I got the eyes on the purple one to look nice and insecty though - used red with a pale green metallic thinned down over it.
  11. Hey, don't normally do WIPs, so forgive me if I skip steps, but I started working on my gazebo from Bones 4. Built up a cork base and mounted on some basswood (slightly harder than balsa): I'm going to be using this as blocking terrain in Kings of War, so I don't really need any interior functionality. I got a Rivendell vibe from this, so I'm going to load it up with some greenery. First step is covering the rock parts with a gritty paste: Just left the steps exposed and some edges.
  12. Hello forum family, as I already wrote in the WIP thread I just wanted an Aasimar but don't wanna buy one, so I decided to make my own converting the bones version of the Ghoul Queen and the Angel of Shadows. And this is the outcome: Hi-res picture I really like how she came out, I really hope you'll like her too! Every c&c and advice is super welcome :) Thank you for watching!
  13. Hi all. I may have finished this guy in record time. I am trying this new thing where when I want to stop and get up from my desk... I don't . This is a bugbear that I just primed with a couple others even though I didn't really have any strong feelings about him. But as I started working on him I started to get more excited, which is something that's been happening to me more now. I just start a mini to get more stuff painted and end up liking the job. I have started to put more effort into highlighting because I got a nudge here on the forums and I am so glad I did. I really like the
  14. Here's the bones Cave Troll! I painted some of the pustules red with white-heads on them...very gross and troll-ey. :)
  15. Ok, forum family, as the title says, I really wanna paint an Aasimar, but atm I can't buy any more mini (wanna paint what I have before!) and so I decided to make my own one. So I took this: and this: to make this one: I know the picture sux, but I'm pretty happy of how she came out... now time to choose the palette.. mumble mumble Any advice, is welcome, help poor Cicciopiu to make it real! :D :D
  16. Here's the creepiest mini I own, and my wife's least favorite!
  17. Next up to bat, a selection of the denizens of Dreadmere, from Reaper Miniatures: Bones 4
  18. Here's another set intended for Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago. I tried to do up the Bloodstone Gnomes as Tribals, as one of the Tribal traits is Pygmy and their armor seemed that fantasy MesoAmericana
  19. I needed a nothic so I made one! I used the mortar gargoyle, cut off the wings, used paperclips and greenstuff to make the spikes, and greenstuff to redo his face and eye. He's a little goofy looking but I kind of like him! Maybe we'll get a real nothic in Bones 5!
  20. Hello forum, wanna share with you my last paint: the bone version of Angel of protection; this mini lacks a lot of details, both faces are blooby , so I've chose to speedpaint her, then I'll buy the metal version as I really like the sculpt and I want to give her justice! :P As you can see not a perfect job, there are also some paint spots on the wings... but whatever... Hope you like her anyway, c&c welcome as always! Thanks :)
  21. Like Howard the Duck, but with a katana. And armor, and a scarf, and... okay, not at all like Howard the Duck.
  22. This mini made the difference on whether I was going to go for the Fan Favorites expansion. For some reason, I really liked the original Flail Snail in the MM. Never actually used (or encountered) one in a game, but the concept is so out there that I had to love it. This one I had trouble getting the shell to look organic. I tried a lot of different colors and treatments (most of which resulted in the shell spending time in the Simple Green...). Could have been the color choices, I guess?
  23. After battling a few of these in an expedition to the nether planes, I figured I should paint at least one of them...
  24. I love this guy's pose, and doing his eyes was really fun. I'm conflicted about the base though... the figure seems stable enough, but the base seems too plain. Suggestions welcome!
  25. This is a Bones Crystal Golem I've painted (just a few inks and quick drybrush) to be used as a proxy for "Ice" character in Rumbleslam games.
