  1. Here is my Reaper Bones Ogre Guard, 77456. It took a long time to finish the skin. I had a hard time getting it right with dry brushing layer upon layer and several washes, but I like the way it turned out.
  2. In a post Bones IV world there are lot more translucent miniatures in circulation. You may have had the same reaction I had, where I thought they were neat, but had no idea what to do with these things. Well, today was the day I decided I was going to try a few different experiments with painting these things to see what would happen. I did try an experiment once before with some purple translucent modes from bones 3, where I put a black wash over them. I was not happy with those results. They turned out looking opaque black with purple highlights from a distance, and translucent against a lig
  3. I would like to try airbrushing different sets of skin tones onto multiple copies (5+) of the same female figure as practice and as a reference for other models. Anyone recommend a Bones fig that is large enough to have quite a bit of exposed skin, but cheap enough that lots of copies wouldn't set me back too much. Yaphima (sure I spelled it wrong) the Frost giant comes to mind first, but looking for other options
  4. Good day everyone, here is my take at 89031, Tar-Baphon the Whispering Tyrant sculpted by Bobby Jackson. The 77531, Graveyard Fence Posts are also fron Reaper and were sculpted by Bob Ridolfi.
  5. Hello forum family, wanna show you just a bunch of speed paints; want to paint every bone I have before make another order, but if I paint everything in my usual way I will probably die before sooooooo... Speedpaint mode /on. No more than 2 hour per model, less if possible. Here the links for nudity: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1iqoCwXYMid6Dh7SwMCTOLAIzJtCvIBfH https://drive.google.com/open?id=12K4Pa_kVqK2PN6SD958IwmAxriq4PW8n https://drive.google.com/open?id=1L-h70djLTRJJhCHjsITsrvJpGr8crstM And that's all for now, I have to keep paint, see you later C&C welcome as alw
  6. A year ago I painted my first minis for D&D. It's not my best work, but it's most definitely an upgrade!
  7. Here is a lizard man I painted recently. I actually finished him a while ago but I didn't post him because there was someone else's posted that day that was much better than mine and I was embarrassed . So here he is now. I am quite happy with the color on his chest. I didn't want him to have a straight yellow chest because that would look too contrasty and cartoony so I used some yellow in a glaze medium and put it on. It was kind of chalky so I need to be looking at getting different yellow paint. The close pics show the flaws and chalkiness but from a foot and a half away it looks ama
  8. I've been trying to do a bit of painting every day, since RCon is coming up so soon. I have a problem with long-term projects, though, so I need to occasionally work on something quick and sweet in between. Sometimes I need to finish something to keep me motivated, you know? Tonight's lucky candidate was this bear, whom I love. His name is Randall and he likes standing in fields. Anyhow, enjoy!
  9. This is my most ambitious attempt to date. A mini-campaign I’m running some people through calls for many kobolds of varying colors and classes. I had 12 Kobolds from Bones I, the 4 pack in metal that those were based off of (03064), the metal Leader and Sorcerer (03024), the 12 awesome new kobolds from Bones 4, and a 7 pack (I may have gotten a freebie, I thought I bought a six pack) of kobolds from the Ral Partha TSR Official D&D 2nd Edition line, stamped 1989. That’s a whopping 37 figures. I want to paint tribes from all 5 chromatic factions, and want to have as few duplicate poses
  10. Found this girl i painted up about a year ago using reaper paints from bones KS 2 and 3, the sword hand is from a gw mini the sword is brass etch, C&C welcome t know the eyes are badly done
  11. I'm working up the nerve to start the larger mushroom characters from the darkreach expansion with this little guy. I really wanted to see what a bright colour scheme would do for the figures, playing on the idea of a brightly posionous mushroom. This is the result.
  12. Oddly these are the first two models I painted up from Bones 4. It just sorta happened. Added a bit of 'stuff' to the altar, the books alone seemed a bit empty.
  13. This figure is next on the agenda. I cleaned up mold lines, cut off the “base” part of his integral base, washed him and mounted him on a Reaper 1 inch base.
  14. Tabletop cultists for my dnd game. I wanted them to have a look that I could either use to be sinister and evil, or even 'good' cultists that have gone too far...the leaders feature red and blue while their subordinates feature green and blue. I chose to do metallic masks of varying metal types and shades. My goal was to work on the speed at which I paint things like NMM so that I can get results without agonizing as I might for a competition piece.
  15. Hello forum family, want to share to you my last work: Lou AKA chibi-Cthulhu Tried a purple contrast on him, the outcome is pretty nice, I think. The base is made sclupting some clay balls and cutting it in half to make the acid bubbles painted with fluo colors from Vallejo; then I've sculpted some tentacles and added to the base to make it more dramatic. A coat of glossy sealer and I call it done. Hope you like it: As always every comment, advice and criticism is super welcom!
  16. This was the must-have from Bones 4 for me! I cut off and modded the legs and created the base with apoxie sculpt so the hut can be placed on its own or on the legs. The paint scheme is "chicken" ;) I can't even remember all the colors I used on this thing, it was a mad mix of Reaper browns and golds, Pokorny terracotta, homemade washes, and I pretty much just kept going at it until I was happy. I hit everything with a matte varnish except several coats of gloss varnish on the window glass.
  17. Hello forum family, wanna show you my last work, the Necromancer the bones one; she got way less details than the metal one, but it is good to try new techs. So, why do not try to refine my NMM and new skin type? And this is the outcome: Had to paint the low edge of the blade, as the sculpted one is too small, and I tryed some basic reflection, pretty happy of the result :) Hope you will like her, and rememmber than any advice and criticism is welcome!
  18. My niece has her birthday in a week or so. We were up visiting so I thought I would bring up a dragon I created for her. I also had gotten the copper and alchemy set from scale 75 and kaphrixis is a copper dragon so... Here is the finished piece. The body was done with copper from scale 75 mixed with some Jaquards dry copper pigments for effect. The wings were aquamarine mixed with the copper and that was the effect I got. I thought the upper wings were gorgeous Then I asked: where would a dragon keep his spellbook? Answer: tatooed.to his wings of course!
  19. This past week I painted the Djinni figure from the Fan Favorites set. When I first saw this figure in the Kickstarter, being a child of the 60's and 70's, the first image that flashed in my mind was Jeannie from the classic I Dream of Jeannie TV show. I knew that this was the color scheme I wanted to use on my Djinni figure. :) I made a couple changes to the figure. First, I separated the lamp portion of the integral base so I could mount it on a different base; and Second, I mounted the sword the correct way as it is shown in the concept art, not upside down and left-ha
  20. Here are some more of my bones minis painted with various brands of paint Reaper, GW, Army Painter Sku:77362 Sku:77378 Sku:77329 Sku:77068
  21. This is the biggest "miniature" I've ever painted. I would not have even looked at it if someone hadn't asked me to paint it. It was a great challenge and a great learning experience. I love his slightly goofy "intoxicated" facial expression.
  22. Hi just wondering if all the previous bones miniatures will eventually be cast in the black bonesium or will they be kept in the original bonesium only?
  23. I painted a raptor. He was a speed paint to let out some steam.
  24. My take on the Giant Rhinoceros Beatle from KS4
