  1. after doing the bugbears I figured why not try something a little bigger, how about some ogre's, unfortunately most of the ogre's were sold out in the reaper store and ended up getting this piece which at the time didn't know I already had.
  2. and the last of the bugbear raiding party I did.
  3. Raiding party member.
  4. and now for his raiding party
  5. I decided to do the Mystic Circle so I could do all kinds of occult and folk horror scenarios. Currently "cooking" in the utility sink. The base parts were pretty warped. I may glue them to some foamcore for a little extra stability, but mostly traced, because I need to keep them " modular" for storage (the arches, I think they still qualify as dolmens, but I forget, will get pulled on and off. Unless it really doesn't work ). This will likely be an all June project, because I had an unexpected computer death and porch reno and need to deal with that.
  6. Some quick paints for the table. The pirate is a good demonstration of why I don't try sculpting - in addition he had a lot of casting problems in his legs and feet, so.... he will do but I kind of cringe. The shroud was a very quick paint - I cut the hands off, because it seemed more creepy that way
  7. More from May - the cultist pair 77518. I also added in my other recently painted pair (77351) with cirlce and I think they make a nice grouping.
  8. My first time painting a chibi figure. Probably not the last. Painting this made me feel happy.
  9. My 3 year old had been exploring my basement paintbstation and fallen in love with the "elephant. " Yesterday I glued and primed it for painting. About 60% got covered in rainbow splotches of craft paint before child abandoned the project to play with recently varnished terrain. I smoothed out all the blobs of paint to vaguely cover everything in a greenish/pinkish/brownish grey. We may paint more, or else I'll paint some eyes and seal it.
  10. A pair of Bones bears (or the bear Bones, if you like) I tried to paint these from pictures of real-life grizzly bears. Every time I paint an animal it ends up with a chaotic riot of washes and highlights in different colours until it looks enough like the source images to satisfy me. I doubt if I could paint another one and get the same colour! The coat of the Dire bear is much coarser, which really shows in the photo (like the fine moulding line on the Cave Bear's face) but is less bothersome in more natural light. I painted these as companions to my Stone Giant tribe
  11. All four Reaper Bones Stone Giants, but with some modifications: Replaced the club wielded by the guard with the one from the smaller, older giant Gave that giant a home-made hammer and a rock to throw. For colours I chose a base of old Citadel Adeptus Battlegrey, brightened with white for highlights. The cloth colours are all greyish hues rather than natural stone colours because I thought that might be too dull. Very happy with the purple cloth, which is done with the Reaper Dark Elf Skin triad. I tried to do decorations in bluish green jade (though if you think it's mo
  12. Here she is - she is an NPC in my campaign... friend or foe? Tried a darker skin but not sure I quite got it. Well, I was pleased even if her eyebrows are a bit odd.
  13. Alright. So I want to share some old skeletons with you to both show off some of my older paintjobs, and to reflect on my growth over the past two and a half years. An what better way to show off my growth in Bones, than with bones? More Below Spoiler: I am not a fan of repainting old models or painting another copy of something I've already painted. I have so many minis in my collection that I'd rather keep moving forward. That said, I love painting similar things. It's a great opportunity to reflect on your past projects and to compare where
  14. For the RCL Zodiac Challenge - the Taurus not one of the more creative choices like Libra or Aquarius. It is my Adopted Star sign because if Horoscopes are at all useful it is when they make guesses at problems or opportunities based on the personality connected to the sign. by personality I fit like 3 of 4 tendencies, and 0 of 4 of my birth sign. knocked this guy out in a few hours this morning.
  15. My kid loves stealing my dice. So I'm painting some High Rollers as a bday gift later this summer. Kid is not old enough to paint with a brush yet. Day 1 was saturday - priming and base coats on the bases and D'Tenian. Maybe my first painting this year?
  16. Here's a simple one for you. Painted the Great Worm as a Purple Worm to the surprise of no one. More Photos Below the Spoiler:
  17. Couldn't find a better thread to post this in. Has anyone else ever had mold grow on their minis? I have a set of bones that have been sitting around for about two year. They were super glued to a reaper base. Baking soda and super glue were used to blend the integrated base into the round base. There's also a layer of cheap craft paint as primer. These guys have been sitting on my painting table in a former sun-room for about two years. I noticed the bases had yellowed a bit, which I've begun to notice on some of my other older bases using baking soda as
  18. Hello Forum friends, I'm being quite productive lately Gonna show you the most recent mini I painted: Small world Sophie. Ok, I have to say I'm in love with this chibi minis, I'm gonna buy lot more cause I find them so funny to paint! About the paint job, well, anytime I manage to paint Sophie, my color choice for her wings is always Violet (or purple if you prefer) and so why do not make my life easy and go for a complementary palette? So, purple and yellow. Easy peasy... Anyway, this is the result, I'm quite happy of her, I hope you'll like her too. As always every C&C is more t
  19. Worked on some critters. The leeches were painted Walnut Brown and highlighted in medium grey. Then I went over them with Turbo Dork - 3D Glasses. Then wash of Nuln Oil Glossy. Ended up with the slimy/glossy look I was trying for. Dire Crab, I was inspired by the color scheme that many have posted here, which i think they were modeling a Blue Crab which seems to be more green with many interesting colors in it. I painted the whole thing Ivory, and then glazed inks and washes up and tried to be careful on where I laid the wash/ink down. Some wer
  20. Here there are my Bones Black Deep Gnomes! I arranged them in a small display base, with crafted gems and mushrooms.
  21. Previews for Reaper's June releases just went up in the "Previews" section, and they're from the Bones 5 Kickstarter. Granted, there's still April and May unaccounted for, but there are a number of large models from the Bones 4 Kickstarter that haven't been released at retail yet. We already know they're suggesting that the Stygian Barge may never be released, but I'm hoping most of the rest will be. By my count, all of these haven't hit the game stores yet: Narglauth Dragon Turtle Agramon, Duke of Hell Blacksting Wyvern All of the Fantasy Scenics Thunde
  22. My partner for the Secret Sophie exchange this year was NecroMancer and they requested demons or some other stuff, so I painted the Queen of Hell. About the same time I had ordered a 3D printer and I had found a base that kind of matched an idea I had in my head. The printer was going to ship on time, then it wasn't, then it was, and finally came in just in time to print my display base. It is from the celestial pack by Archvillain Games. It's 100mm plus some overhang. For a bit of additional flair I added some blood imps to the base. One thing about pre-made display bases thoug
  23. This was a repaint from earlier this year. I bought Quickshade Strong Tone for speed painting some of my board games and tried it in Woody. I liked the way it worked for the most part but as you can tell I got some frosting when I matte coated it. Another thing that happened was my paint cracked on my base but I kinda like the way it looks. I probably won't bother fixing any of the issues as I moved on to another figure I am struggling with.
  24. Fun and quick one for RCL new release. Have been aiming for a more dull/gritty looks wtih a lot of my recent figures.
