And things that look like ghouls! All the ghouls! Paul Muller is my number 1 dream ghoul man, he's made all my favourites. About 4/5 years ago I got in touch with him and we released the first set of ghoul mothers, which are....very horrifying - in the best ghoul way! The last horror campaign we did, we added some more Muller ghouls, and he got ghoul fever too and has sculpted us a whole bunch of them since then, that we're going to Kickstarter! Aside from ghoul ladies which I'm obviously a fan, we have ghoul men, ghoul children and even some ghoul teenagers. And ghoul pets! Fun for all the family!* *I've actually put a warning at the start of the Kickstarter as Bad Squiddo are known for our family friendly lovely things, and this campaign does have some dark themes as it's very much an Annie campaign, so if that's not your thing, there are ghouls eating babies and guinea pigs and things, so best not to scroll further. I don't think any are as grim as the ghoul mothers (the original pack) so there's that! We've got artwork from Patrice Rameau and lovely paintjobs from Andrew Taylor and John Morris.

Hello everyone, So this is my first project ever posted in this forum - yay. I am so excited. Anyway - I have to admit I am not the best miniature painter - I am far away from that. I can't understand color theory, keep forgetting important steps and in those moments where I should be patient, I can't wait and ruin everything. Haha - nevertheless I try to become better and therefore I started this project. Some time ago I came up with the idea to create an all-female soviet infantry battalion for the Bolt Action wargame. If you want to know more, please check out this link: Strike Witches - All-Female Soviet Infantry Platoon (Warlord Games Forum) It soon became apparent to me that the use of infantry alone wouldn't make any sense, so I decided to get me some tanks and personnel to man them - tank riders and officers to command the vehicles. My army itself is painted in a merely tabletop standard, but as I am always flashed by what a good painter can achieve, I want to take the chance and try to enhance my skills by reading and watching tutorials on how to improve certain aspects of my painting and as the tanks will be standing out of the masses of infantry, I want their commanders to stand out, too. That said, I started painting the three ladies using i.e. Corporeas face painting tutorial, didn't like the outcome, stripped them (*chuckles*) of all the paint, started painting again, ruined the job once more, stripped them again, painted once more, liked the face, ruined the leather, stripped them again and so on - I guess a plastic kit would be molten by now. After a longer time without having the ability to paint, I returned to the painting table just to figure out I had forgotten almost everybit of knowledge I aquired regarding painting. So I went back here, but unfortunately Corporeas Tutorial was not "illustrated" anymore, thanks to photobucket. So I decided to join the forum to inspire myself how to paint and to make some steps forward in painting miniatures. Let's go. The original figure I got looked like this: Due to some ... breast issues in the wargaming forum I was present at that time ("Well, we like to play armies who in reality commited mass murder, but - oh my good - did you attach boobs to this figure?! How dare you?!" and so on) I decided to fuel the fire - and I really like the outcome. It reminds me a bit of anime figures. Haha. She looked like this: But as I wrote, I then totally screwed up the paintjob like a complete idiot and now I am back to square one. Well then ... here we go again. I had to correct some scratches in the Greenstuff, so that should be dry by tomorrow, then I'll base coat her and will start painting. Slowly and steady. One step after the other - and we will see where this ends. See you next time!

(Note: I actually started these a while back, though they are not done yet. This is a bit less of a WIP thread than a how-I-got-here-so-far thread, which I will update as I get my old pictures organized. Questions and comments and critiques are, as always, welcome.) Last summer Bad Squiddo Games hosted a brief Kickstarter, "My Last Sunrise," of an assortment of Gothic horror minis centered around vampires. These two stood out to me as a little beyond the Hammer horror ethos of most of the other figures. While I was painting them I thought of them as "Feral Vampires," although when I just rechecked they are called "Vampire Thralls." I dunno. They don't look very thrall-like to me. Their tag line in the Kickstarter was "Float about in my night dress cooing for scraps? No way. I hunt my own meal." Anyhow, they have a fun, odd, lady pirate or highwayman look. All paints used are Golden Matte Fluid Acrylics. Color mixes are (usually) noted, but not exact ratios. Questions are welcomed and I will try to answer them. Critiques are appreciated. This is a slight deviation from how I prime figures. Normally I prime them with Titanium White (which I did here) and then wash over them with Burnt Umber to bring out the details. These I wanted kind of cold-looking, so I washed them with a cold dark grey mixed from Burnt Sienna and Ultramarine Blue. That's them on the left. For a while I was including Bad Squiddo's "Dracula" in the photos, so you get a free peek at that too. And as per usual, the first thing I did was their skin. In contrast to the skin of living humans, I have been painting vampire skin in stark black-and-white mixed from Titanium White and Carbon Black. The very first layer is thinned Titanium White, then pale shadows of the lightest grey.

This is the female vampire hunter, BFM MLS008 from Bad Squiddo Games. There is no WIP thread. As always, comments and critiques are welcome. I painted her up as a Latina because something about her outfit felt a little Spanish Baroque to me.

Bad Squiddo Games put out this set of four vampire hunters (from rather different eras), SKU: BFM MLS007. Some parts of some of the sculpts are a little crude. In the end I think I painted them rather roughly, but then my sympathies tend to lie on the other side. There is no WIP. As always, comments and critiques are welcome. I think of this guy as the Dum-Dum Dugan of the group. This one just seemed disreputable, almost as scary as the monsters he hunts. This guy could be any sort of modernish cowboy or frontiersman, I think. I painted up the Baroque one as Latino and imagined him dealing with infestations in colonial California. This isn't a great angle, except I like how his chained book turned out. We have some old books about, and the ancient worn leather does tend to look like that.

These are the "Vampire Brides" from Bad Squiddo Games, which last summer came out with a line of Hammer-type horror figures called "My Last Sunrise." They are sculpted by Gus Kearns and were introduced with the tag line "Get married, they said. Best day of your life, they said." WIP thread here.

Finally finished up the Gunny Peegs this weekend - was mostly finishing off the basing. They are small guinnea pigs, with guns, from one of Bad Squiddo Games' Kickstarter (although I believe they are available on her site as well now) More pics:

A note: I use Golden Matte Fluid Acrylics and mix my own colors. All color references are to what I have mixed and sometimes how. Last summer Bad Squiddo Games had an eyeblink of a Kickstarter (I think it might have been one week) for a line of Gothic horror minis, called "My Last Sunrise". Annie the Dice Bag Lady specializes in realistic non-objectified female minis from manufacturers worldwide and has a pretty good sense of humor about it. These are three vampire brides from the assortment. They have a classic Hammer horror look to them. They were introduced in the Kickstarter as "Get married, they said. Best day of your life, they said." Anyhow, I figured I would paint them up. As ever (though I don't think I have mentioned it lately), comments and critiques are most appreciated. I'm always learning and glad to hear other perspectives. Normally I prime my minis white and wash them with Burnt Umber, a rich, dark brown. But I wanted these to look more chilly so I washed them with a cold grey mixed from Ultramarine Blue and Burnt Sienna. It does not enhance the details as much as the darker Umber. Ultramarine Blue tends to dry with a grainy texture in thin washes. In passing, I note that this looks like a pretty good crystalline rock texture and would be a fairly fast method for painting statues. C&C welcome!

Hi all, My latest... abomination. Don't like how he turned out. At all. But...I know well enough that a finished mini is a good mini. I really love this model. I got it in a very recent and ultra fast Kickstarter. I think he's a cool looking dude. I might strip him one day and redo him but until then I will start on the other 3.
